I’m just wondering how they do a 6 hour journey. Do they have stops for loo breaks? Do they change drivers.?

Did anyone else think they heard boo-ing when the proclamation was read out in Edinburgh; I think it was just after the National Anthem at noon.

If it did happen I'm appalled - there is a time and a place for displaying your views, but this isn't one of them.

Royalistforaday · 11/09/2022 12:59

PizzaFunghi - Glamis Castle is a bit of a trek westwards off the dual carriageway and then doubling back on themselves. Brechin Castle is 5 mins (or so) off the main road.

Plus it’s much further south than Brechin. I think Brechin might be half way 🤔

LIZS · 11/09/2022 13:00

Yes there was. Not surprising given the mix of people in Edinburgh.

Dear Anne,

All of mumsent is concerned about your loo access 🤣.

I want her to do her leg stretches as well to prevent DVTs, and have a nice walk around for a few minutes. I know she's trim, but I want her live very long and prosper for some reason she's not Andrew.

Crimsonripple · 11/09/2022 13:03

They're having a scheduled stop now.

FetlocksBlowingInTheWind · 11/09/2022 13:06

Last night I read about Anne's attempted kidnapping. Didn't she say something like 'Not bloody likely!' And refuse to get out?

She can handle a few hours without a toilet break 😂

I know I know, they've had a break already. I love that story though!

I was watching and definitely didn't hear booing.

I'm 'glad' (if that's the right word) the Queen died in Scotland. It's allowed us to be and feel a part of the proceedings. Nearly all major events are held in London which always feels detached to me and happening to other people. I'm going to Edinburgh on Tuesday to pay my respects, something I wouldn't have been able to do otherwise. It's almost like she planned it this way.

FetlocksBlowingInTheWind · 11/09/2022 13:09

Is it me or does it not look that crowded outside Buckingham Palace? Is the crowd flow being restricted?

MassiveSalad22 · 11/09/2022 13:10

I wouldn’t be surprised if she did plan it this way, in fact she probably did TBH. She planned all the rest of her death didn’t she? Maybe apart from the date. Hanging out in Scotland a lot, she loved Scotland so makes sense she wanted Scotland to be a big part of her send off.

PinkyFlamingo · 11/09/2022 13:11

Strangely seems to unite us more ( n s won't like this)

What a lot of people don't seem to grasp regarding tne SNP and Scottish independence it's Westminster the issue is with not the Royal family. When Scotland becomes independent I can the King would still be head of state, similar to other commonwealth countries and even the King of Scotland as I've just heard someone say on TV.

sleepismyhobby · 11/09/2022 13:12

Can't see it being 6 hours it's Aberdeen - Edinburgh airport which would be around 3 hours? I just saw a post on fb and going through peterculter and they were driving at a decent speed

elizaregina · 11/09/2022 13:13

Actually re Anne it's very telling really that it was her not the queen's beloved Andrews who had been with her all this time and it's Anne who is now traveling with her.

Usually it is the daughters left to support their mum's I appreciate Charles was also on hand but is now busy.

I wonder how much else Anne has done because it's always the queen and Andrew supposedly!.

SimonAndGarthsUncle · 11/09/2022 13:13

I have driven Aberdeen to London (about 9-10 hours) several times. Without stopping.

Its not impossible or even particularly difficult as long as you don’t drink loads before setting off 🤷🏻‍♂️

In death we are all the same.

Without wanting to be flippant or disrespectful, it genuinely occurred to me that I now have more money than the Queen!

Congratulations. And it is flippant and disrespectful. Do you normally do that at funerals and the aftermath of someone’s death? It’s true what they say - money can’t buy manners, discretion or tact.

Unfortunately there was booing and some eejit shouting 'Up the Republic' or something. NS looked very nervous.

elizaregina · 11/09/2022 13:14

Massive, on another thread someone said the Queen said if she was able to choose, then she would prefer to go at Balmoral.

PinkyFlamingo · 11/09/2022 13:15

I did. The Herald is reporting it as fact. I wasn't sure at the time as it could have been part of the gun salute, but there was at least one blue-haired numpty there with a placard denouncing imperialism.

derxa · 11/09/2022 12:32

I've driven from Northern England to the Central Belt area many times, and find the Scottish Borders area also spectacular, especially on the M6/M74 side. But on the way back, it does seem like I'm on the road for ages and am still in Scotland
We're in the Borders (just) I do the journey to Herts and back very regularly. I'm always by a group of trees on the hill next to the M74 that looks exactly like a cock and balls.

I know exactly where you mean!

It has amused me a little because there have been comments from friends and people on mn expressing surprise that Scotland is a) large and b) beautiful.

I'm English but went to university in Scotland and have lots of friends and family there and visit multiple times a year and I absolutely love it. It seems to be a genuine surprise to some people that Edinburgh is 100s of miles from the highlands and that the highlands have amazing scenery.....

Definitely. I had a friend who was a stringer on a national London newspaper. He live near Hawick. He used to get messages from his office saying 'There's a story breaking in Fort William.' Could you pop up there this afternoon......'

Princess Ann will have a bladder of steel.
