what is everyone’s opinion on a lone female travelling from York to London on their own to see the Queen lying in state?

my partner and mum don’t think it’s safe which has me wondering

Of course it it. What on Earth do they think will happen to you?

Aworldofmyown · 10/09/2022 21:09

You'll be fine. Many, many women travel alone to London!!!

Coughee · 10/09/2022 21:10

Why wouldn't it be safe? Assuming you're an adult.

Twizbe · 10/09/2022 21:10

Of course it's safe.

I'm taking my children to BP tomorrow so lay some flowers.

fairgame84 · 10/09/2022 21:10

Of course it's safe. Why wouldn't it be?
It's a direct train from York to London as well.

tigerbear · 10/09/2022 21:11

Huh?? My 11 year old travels into London alone to school each day!
why wouldn’t you be safe???

DelphiniumBlue · 10/09/2022 21:11

Huh? What do they think the problem will be?

weebarra · 10/09/2022 21:11

Why don't they? Terrorist threat? Crowds?
I don't see what the problem would be?

BrookeDavisQueen · 10/09/2022 21:11

Do it every day.

Be sensible - don't go wandering out of the tube looking at your phone and keep your bag shut. You'll be fine.

Jumpking · 10/09/2022 21:11

Yes, it's fine.

Go

Doveyouknow · 10/09/2022 21:11

What?! How do you think women in London travel around?

TrueNorthernBird · 10/09/2022 21:11

Actual single women live in London! We also travel to Other Places and survive.

StillMissV · 10/09/2022 21:11

You know women, like, live here? And we go shopping and walk to work and live our lives?

Yes the crime stats are higher but I wouldn't call it unsafe Hmm

NewBootsAndRanty · 10/09/2022 21:11

...

TheOtherWoman2 · 10/09/2022 21:12

Your partner and mother are absurd

Theeyeballsinthesky · 10/09/2022 21:12

God Lord are there really ppl who think like this?

you will be completely and utterly fine. The york to London line is a pretty good line as well - trains are fast.

Puffalicious · 10/09/2022 21:13

What on Earth? Why wouldn't it be safe? I can't actually believe there are people like you out there? Is this the 1800s and you need a ladies maid to accompany you?

TokyoSushi · 10/09/2022 21:13

I'm going by myself from the NW, didn't even cross my mind it would be unsafe!

LittleBearPad · 10/09/2022 21:14

Why on earth would your partner think you’d be unsafe, or your mother?

ClocksGoingBackwards · 10/09/2022 21:14

Your partner and mum are ridiculous. Plenty of women live outside London and travel in and out of it successfully all the time.

TheOGCCL · 10/09/2022 21:14

What do they think could happen to you?

AdelaideRo · 10/09/2022 21:15

I've just come back from a solo holiday - two european countries. 3 cities. Multiple train journeys and I don't speak the language in either country I visited.
Nothing bad happened.

Making this journey will be good for you. Do it!

HipsterCoffeeShop · 10/09/2022 21:15

What the hell 😂😂😂😂 what do they think is going to happen?

tectonicplates · 10/09/2022 21:16

How do you think Londoners get around town on a daily basis? I commute to work and back every day and usually walk around town on my own. I don't need my DH to accompany me 🤔

stilldumdedumming · 10/09/2022 21:16

If you are worried for your safety, it might help to remember that it's going to be safer than normal because there's so much sW at the moment.
