Now that the Queen is gone, if there were ever to be a referendum, would you vote to keep or abolish?

I would vote to abolish.

Keep, but smaller

LampLighter414 · 10/09/2022 16:29

Abolish. Time for them all to fade into obscurity. I wonder how long until the wealth was squandered.

Kualma · 10/09/2022 16:33

Abolish. What’s so wrong about President Truss? She was voted in by her party. Why does no one say imagine Andrew as King!

I adored the Queen but now I would abolish.

GyozaGuiting · 11/09/2022 09:26

Those saying the tourism would stay, it’s not just the buildings, a lot of people ARE interested in the actual family. The Queen was on papers in countries all over the World.

Furthermore, the soft diplomacy and soft power they use can be far more effective than anything our government can do. Additionally they’re part of Brand Britain, don’t underestimate this power.

I run a business and export revenue is higher than ever, it’s nearly higher than our UK revenue, because made in Britain stands for quality. In export meetings I routinely get asked if I know the Royals, people are interested. They’re interested in our music, London, fashion… but the royals certainly.

Charles also does so much good, I’ve been involved with the Princes trust and they’ve helped over a million.

Those saying get rid of it aren’t thinking of the second and third order consequences.

AuxArmesCitoyens · 11/09/2022 09:43

The people the Prince's Trust has helped wouldn't need helping if we spent the money that goes to the royals on social issues. It's a grossly inefficient way of getting help to people that need it.

Roselilly36 · 11/09/2022 09:55

Keep but much, much smaller, just immediate lineage to the throne. Far too many currently that don’t seem to do a lot to support the crown, but reap the privileges.

Frangipani0 · 11/09/2022 09:57

Abolish.

Parky04 · 11/09/2022 10:00

Don't care either way but Oh is a Royalist so would vote keep for them. Not going to happen in any event as no party is going to be brave enough to have a referendum in their manifesto!

The queen has been a great figure to represent the country to the world, while the chosen figure heads have made us look like a country of numpties.

Until we have better option to represent out country as figure heads, keep the king/queen, abolish all the hangers on.

BlancmanegeBunny · 11/09/2022 16:49

PickAChew · 09/09/2022 23:17

Might as well keep. Look at the fuckwits who get voted in as president where that's an option.
