I think it's done about a month in advance - they don't do it too early to minimise the chances of a major event happening that must be acknowledged, necessitating a re-record.

It will be interesting to see if Charles keeps the same format, or shakes it up.

It baffles me that 70 years is apparently not long enough to get used to it.

No, they remain valid - just like coins, bank notes and stamps remain valid. They'll gradually get pushed out by the newer issues

I had an email this afternoon to say mine had been printed - it arrived around the same time that the announcement was made by the look of it.
So I guess in cases like mine I'll have that passport for the next 10 years.

I think football matches (and all sports) may be cancelled all weekend (not sure if longer.

No comedy shows (I see Sarah Millican has cancelled)

It looks likely that Trevor Sinclair is jobless (hopefully!)

I applied for dd's new passport last week - wonder if it will refer to His Majesty.

Feels like when Victoria died (not personal feeling, what I've read) - her reign is all people can remember, except for a tiny minority, so you feel oddly thrown.

There are still VR postboxes.
