Yes I didn't expect to cry. She did so well on Tuesday bless her.

RIP. Quite jarring, the way the BBC immediately talked about 'The King', although I know that's the tradition and what she would have wanted.

It’s not ‘tradition’ it’s the way it works. The heir becomes monarch instantly.

Helgadaley · 08/09/2022 18:55

I can't believe how sad I am. RIP Your Majesty.

Nidan2Sandan · 08/09/2022 18:55

I'm really quite upset. I am a royalist and could never imagine not having her as our head of state.

RIP Queen Elizabeth
Long live the King

maddiemookins16mum · 08/09/2022 18:55

I’ve just had a little cry, especially when they went straight into the National Anthem. RIP Elizabeth R.

AcrossthePond55 · 08/09/2022 18:56

Rest in Glorious Peace. A life of service indeed. "Well done, good and faithful servant".

She's set a high bar. Hope Charles is up to it.

GlassDeli · 08/09/2022 18:56

Very sad news.

nauticant · 08/09/2022 18:57

The heir becomes monarch instantly.

It's because of the chequered history of interregnums between monarchs.

Bluesbrothers02 · 08/09/2022 18:58

I haven't stopped crying 😭
This just tops off a shit year for many reasons Everything in life seems so unstable at the minute - we've just had yet another new prime minister and now a new monarch.

Whynobreadpudding · 08/09/2022 18:58

Such a beautiful woman. Rest in peace.

fortheloveofcheesecake · 08/09/2022 18:58

We're all quite upset here. What an amazing woman who became queen at such a young age and has just been a constant in our lives. Loved the twinkle in her eye.

Youngatheart00 · 08/09/2022 18:58

RIP. I cried at Huw Edwards announcement seeing how obviously emotional he was

SommerTen · 08/09/2022 18:58

I'm sad because when I saw her looking so frail at the Jubilee I thought she reminded me of my Nan in her last few months.. in fact it's because I'm reminded of my Nan's death that I'm upset really.

Anothernamechangeplease · 08/09/2022 18:59

Very sad news.

I am no monarchist, but I respected the Queen's incredible sense of duty and her commitment to service. I also valued the continuity that she brought to public life. Surprised myself by just how upset I felt when I saw the news...I guess she has just always been there.

I hope that her family will be given some space to grieve privately.

frostyfingers · 08/09/2022 18:59

An amazing woman and how lucky this country was to have her as head of state for such a long time. A life of duty well lived and a very hard act to follow.

BoreOfWhabylon · 08/09/2022 18:59

We will not see her like again.

RIP

AgnestaVipers · 08/09/2022 19:00

I'm no royalist but feel sad. RIP.

Met Truss and decided to give the rest a miss.

harrystylesbeard · 08/09/2022 19:01

The Queen had died, not passed. Its a solemn moment for a very old monarch. God rest the Queen

Bunnylover1961 · 08/09/2022 19:01

I feel surprisingly sad considering I never even met her - I think she did a good job though and took her duty very seriously throughout her life.

RIP HRH Queen Elizabeth II

StillMedusa · 08/09/2022 19:01

I'm surprised at how emotional I feel, but she served her people, worked so much longer than anyone should ever do, and she was the figurehead of our country.
But now we will see Britain doing what we do best... ceremony. We will be witnessing a great piece of history with the funeral and then coronation.

I hope Philip was waiting for her :)

Yes, he is clearly genuinely moved. His voice is still breaking at times.

the80sweregreat · 08/09/2022 19:01

The general consensus is ' might not be a royalist , but we will miss her ' I think
Plus now there's a man in charge .
It is a sad day

Yes, me too, it reminds me of losing my Mum.

Northernlurker · 08/09/2022 19:01

Well I sobbed buckets. When they said 'The King' - wow.

Cats1234567 · 08/09/2022 19:01

I feel really sad about her passing and also my 14 year old is also feeling really sad. I can’t stop thinking about her. Such a beautiful incredible lady.
