Will the bank note notes and coins now change to King Charles?

Also the crowns on public servants uniforms , and buildings like police stations?

Id guess it will change quite quick?

JustAnotherPoster00 · 08/09/2022 19:02

Who will I have to tell me austerity is going to be hard now while sitting in front of a golden piano, end of an era for sure

Wheresmywoolyjumpers · 08/09/2022 19:02

Not a royal supporter but you have to admire her sense of duty. I guess we will be looking at an official funeral and coronation at a time when we can ill afford it.

WildRosie · 08/09/2022 19:02

She got through her Jubilee and saw off the abdication advocates - one issue on which she would not budge. I hope she had a glass of something decent in her hand as she kept going right until the end.

MoodyMooToo · 08/09/2022 19:02

I am so upset, silly really but it hit me more than I thought it would

worriedatthistime · 08/09/2022 19:03

Heard it in the car 15 mins ago
Def end of an era

CrunchyCarrot · 08/09/2022 19:03

Very sad, and I did burst into tears when Huw announced it. I feel very emotional, she's the only monarch I've ever known and was a big favourite of my mum, who passed away some years ago. They were born just a few months apart.

RIP. I’m not a fan of the royal family but she did a good job.

End of an era.

I think so too . She has been an asset to this country

Flapjacker48 · 08/09/2022 19:04

Why are people wondering about money and like? It will take years to change - there was loads of notes and coins with the king on for years after he died.

vera99 · 08/09/2022 19:04

My sick heart shows
That I must yield my body to the earth,
And, by my fall, the conquest to my foe.
Thus yields the cedar to the axe's edge,
Whose arms gave shelter to the princely eagle;
Under whose shade the ramping lion slept:
Whose top-branch overpeer'd Jove's spreading tree,
And kept low shrubs from winter's powerful wind.
Henry VI, Part III (c. 1591), Act V, scene 2, line 8.

madasawethen · 08/09/2022 19:04

So very sad. I'm in tears. She served us until her dying day. RIP

I'm sad because when I saw her looking so frail at the Jubilee I thought she reminded me of my Nan in her last few months.. in fact it's because I'm reminded of my Nan's death that I'm upset really.

It's reminding me of my nans death a few months ago. I feel so emotional, albeit I'm still not really over my nans death.

I imagine she did. Incredible woman

RIP. Quite jarring, the way the BBC immediately talked about 'The King', although I know that's the tradition and what she would have wanted.

That was the statement from BP, not the BBC's words

Mooshamoo · 08/09/2022 19:06

I am absolutely heartbroken. I feel real deep grief. She was like a mother figure to the nation. She was a constant guiding presence. She put so much effort into her years on the throne. She worked hard. She never got into any scandal. She did so much for the country. Its no wonder all of us are upset. She has been there for our whole lives. Having to move from her to Charles is a huge shock. I miss her.

ALongHardWinter · 08/09/2022 19:06

I'm not a royalist but I admired the Queen for her dedication and dignity. End of an era.

Devastated, god bless our Queen and may she RIP 😭

PeskyRooks · 08/09/2022 19:08

Bye Queen you were a truly great lady.

what will the national anthem be now?
New money...everything's changing
The last few years have been so weird
king Charles sounds odd only known the spaniel up til now!

Ohdofuckofdear · 08/09/2022 19:08

R.I.P to our Queen you will be long remembered and forever missed.💐

Mooshamoo · 08/09/2022 19:09

I feel really sad at having to change from having a female motherly Queen, to going to a male King. And not just any male. A male that has not been known for his kindness in the past.

Its a shock.

hammerandtong · 08/09/2022 19:10

A good and faithful servant 🇬🇧

Seymour5 · 08/09/2022 19:11

I admired her constancy, her sense of duty. I enjoyed watching her take an interest in all sorts of people, and her delight when a child presented her with flowers.

A long life, well spent. RIP Queen Elizabeth II.

Darbs76 · 08/09/2022 19:12

I’m so sad. I’ve always been a bit of a royalist, so glad I took my daughter up to London for the jubilee, we will have many memories of sitting on our deckchairs on the mall enjoying the celebrations. It was clear then that she was so very frail. Thanks Ma’am for your amazing never to be matched again service. We will miss you

CousinKrispy · 08/09/2022 19:13

I'm no royalist and think the monarchy needs a lot of reform in this country, but I admire her dedication and feel surprisingly sad. The end of an era indeed.
