I think it's a shock because on Tuesday she was working and being photographed on her feet
It's so quick

dementedma · 08/09/2022 18:48

Sad here but a good death. In a place she loved with her family around and busy and smiling up to the last few days.
RIP Your Majesty.

thefamilyupstairs · 08/09/2022 18:49

It feels like the end of an era 😭. On a practical note, is tomorrow a holiday?

msssm · 08/09/2022 18:50

I'm unexpectedly sad too. RIP to a special lady.

RIP. Quite jarring, the way the BBC immediately talked about 'The King', although I know that's the tradition and what she would have wanted.

It's the tradition but it was a shock to hear. I am genuinely upset - its such a big thing in historical terms.

Rafferty10 · 08/09/2022 18:50

Truly the most inspirational woman ever.
None could match her dedication to her duty for the 70 years she was Monarch.

Her addresses at all the most difficult moments Britain has faced over the decades have been wonderfully uplifting and comforting.

I am so sad.

mirilou · 08/09/2022 18:50

I am also surprised at how sad this has made me; crying real tears.

Actually shocked at how upset this has made me.

RIP.

Yes, same here. It has unexpectedly really saddened me; I’ve cried in front of the children.

I liked her whole story. The relationship that she had with her parents and sister, her traditions, the fact that she was well travelled and loved Scotland and horses. I liked her stoic attitude and the fact she genuinely was a stable for this country. It is a massive loss. I’m not sure that will ever be replicated again.

FlosCampi · 08/09/2022 18:51

Very emotional, a good woman.

SavBbunny · 08/09/2022 18:51

Agreed a great stateswoman.
The longest monarch and she saw in our new female prime minister. Perhaps she thought, job done.
Rest in peace your majesty. You were an inspiration.

Cats1234567 · 08/09/2022 18:51

God bless the queen, it is devastating , she was amazing.

ZenNudist · 08/09/2022 18:51

In shock

RIP

connie26 · 08/09/2022 18:52

So sad. She's been a constant in my life. Feels like the end of an era 😓

PlanetNormal · 08/09/2022 18:52

I am a lifelong Republican, but I had enormous personal respect for the Queen. My thoughts are with her family and friends. Having lost my own grandmothers, I know how they are feeling.

RooRem2 · 08/09/2022 18:52

So sad🥺🤍

Littlemisspawpatrol · 08/09/2022 18:53

I saw about ten swans this afternoon around 1.30pm. I was surprised because I've only ever seen two in that spot and never that many anywhere on a river. It felt like they were coming out for something very important and then half an hour I got home and saw the news that she was ill.

Sofachoices · 08/09/2022 18:54

A dreadfully sad day. She has shown such loyalty and dedication to her role and to this country.

Carrieonmywaywardsun · 08/09/2022 18:54

This feels so odd. Odd she's gone. More odd that our monarch is King Charles

Jconnais1chansonquivavsenerver · 08/09/2022 18:54

I'm really glad for her that she was still on the go on Tuesday and died peacefully (I hope) less than 48 hours later. RIP.

Worldgonecrazy · 08/09/2022 18:54

The Queen is dead. Long live the King!

Its sad news but not entirely unexpected given the last released photo of her meeting Liz Truss.

Hopefully the media will allow our new King space to mourn before they begin the ghoulish picking over of every word, expression and movement.

AChickenClucks · 08/09/2022 18:54

I'm strangely upset and tearful. Which is silly. But we will never see the like of Elizabeth II again. Only people like my uncle (who is 80) remember a time when there was a different monach before her. 😢

Scianel · 08/09/2022 18:54

I'm much sadder than I thought I'd be.

the80sweregreat · 08/09/2022 18:55

King Charles
It sounds weird.
Have to get used to that one
