I'm pleased her death was quick and hopefully she didn't suffer. She was still up and about and dignified until the day before so thats the best death anyone can hope for really. The most recent pic of her reminded me of my grandma when she deteriorated, frail and bruised, I felt so sorry for her. Its a very sad time.

I appear to be the only one in the UK who couldn’t give a whooping funt ! Yes, had I known her as the majority of our population appear to lay claim to , I may have felt something. Definitely not sadness/ you do not die suddenly at the age of 96. She led an entitled ,long and apparently happy life (and had she not ascended to a role not originally on the agenda, she would still have lived a life of luxury and excess) My feelings at this point in time go more towards Meghan. The vitriol of our gutter press because of an interview she gave to Oprah Winfrey ! Oh what short memories the British have when it suits their narrative . Both Diana and Charles were interviewed on national TV and openly discussed their infidelity and at that point the RF started to dissolve through their behaviour. This appears to have totally skipped the minds of the stupid ! Poor Meghan appears to have taken the brunt of the Daily Hate and other cat litter tray liners. She has many excellent qualities; humanitarian, female empowerment activist, relinquishing any payment from the privy purse and declaring financial independence. She married a man she loved but, unfortunately found out they were a bunch of shits just a bit too late.I just hate the whole fucking hypocrisy.

Helgadaley · 10/09/2022 01:12

I can't believe how sad I am. Crying on and off. It's a truly momentous time in history. I never met her, yet she was always there in the background. Christmas day will never be the same. Presents, lunch, then the Queen's Speech. Timeless.

Thank you LINABE, I couldn't have said it better myself! Autumn61, keep your spiteful words to yourself, and go away!

Mamanyt · 10/09/2022 05:00

I am so sorry, guys. She was a gracious Lady, and will be missed around the world. I was just stunned. My grandmother attended her coronation, and one of my prized posessions is a beautiful broach commemorating it. It is a sepia-toned print-on-china, and a lovely thing.

You knock people for thinking they knew the queen whilst claiming to know Meghan’s attributes - you are the hypocrite

Totally agree, no point posting this on here though, most have their hands over their ears. They also seem to have forgotten the Prince Andrew pay off and wonderful relationship the royals had with Jimmy Saville.

Sporty2022 · 10/09/2022 13:33

Rosie22xx · 09/09/2022 18:37

People do realised the royals colonised so many countries right? And stole many jewels that belong to different countries, right? Or do people like to forget this information? If she was so nice, she would have issued deep apologies and refret and issued back the jewels to where they rightly belong. She also helped pay off Prince Andrew the paedo. There are many things wrong with the royal family, that an ordinary family would be hated upon. Open your eyes people, actually think about who you respect and support, it's a good representation of your own character too. Wake up.

Absolutely shite. The late Queen didn’t colonise anyone. She had only been on the throne since 1952. She spent her entire life trying to do good for the world.

You do realise that your ancestors probably did not so good things? Like everyone else in history. We can’t change what our distance relatives did.

Kings and Prince’s hundreds of years ago went into battle and killed people. Do we blame the current Royal Family for that? Something they had nothing to do with?

RampantIvy · 10/09/2022 13:35

Not sure the queen did.

Doesn’t mean they knew what was going on does it? You really shouldn’t cast aspersions like that.

Kazibar · 10/09/2022 17:29

I’m way more sad than I expected, she had as my own mum would have said a good innings…

Kazibar · 10/09/2022 17:31

I’m sorry they didn’t give the Duke of Edinburgh title to Edward, it went William whos also duke cambridge, Cornwall and Edinburgh and Pow

RampantIvy · 10/09/2022 17:32

I just read this on Twitter, and I agree with this sentiment.

Neither the late Queen, nor any member of the Royal Family alive today is responsible for colonialism or the exploitative actions of historic politicians & businessmen anymore than you are.

SavBbunny · 10/09/2022 17:40

The 'fab four' are out in Windsor speaking to people. No bullet proof vests. To those who say a life of privilege, would you do it? I wouldn't. Not on your Nelly for all the tea in China. I would be scared.
God rest Her Majesty. A total star.

100% no, I wouldn’t do it. I have a huge amount of respect for the queen who always put her duty first. That must have been hard. Less so for Charles, who didn’t, and changed the rules to fit his personal life. I think it’s almost slavery. There’s no choice and no freedom. However, it is also as well compensated as it is possible to be. Literally no higher privilege and practically unlimited funds.

They do have the choice to give up the duty and the privilege and some of the money (whilst still remaining wealthy beyond most people’s wildest dreams) If they haven’t, well, you can’t have it both ways. If your identity is based on your belief that you were born better than ordinary people, to do a job that ordinary people cannot do and with extraordinary wealth and privilege, you can’t really complain if you are then not treated like an ordinary person, can you?

XingMing · 10/09/2022 21:27

Or you can just earn your own money and get on with your life the way you want to live.

I saw about ten swans this afternoon around 1.30pm. I was surprised because I've only ever seen two in that spot and never that many anywhere on a river. It felt like they were coming out for something very important and then half an hour I got home and saw the news that she was ill.

@Littlemisspawpatrol So very interesting. I went out for a bike ride that evening and saw a spectacular rainbow, the like of which is rarely seen. It was fully arched and sat beautifully in the sky and I instinctively felt it was signifying something important. The evening was also serene and beautiful. I came back home and learnt the news! Praise be to God!

Member82 · 12/09/2022 11:52

@Mooshamoo

British soldiers and Police committed countless atrocities and war crimes in Ireland in the last fifty years, very much during her reign. Google Bloody Sunday, 1971 Newry Killings, Ballymurphy Massacre, Springhill Massacre, Guildford Four & Maguire Seven, Birmingham Six, and British collusion with Loyalist paramilitaries to name but a few in Ireland.

Once done reading those and educating yourself about your shameful history in Ireland why not educate yourself further on British war crimes throughout the rest of the world while she was sitting on the throne – The Mau Mau Uprising in Kenya, The Battle of Danny Boy in Iraq, genocidal massacres of Australian indigenous peoples throughout the 20th century, and the countless reports of torture and child murder in Afghanistan in the 2000s.

No person of sound mind could ever read these reports and for a minute think that their history of colonisation is something to be proud of. You mention German people and their feelings about their own history. The difference there, is that Germany took major steps in confronting their past and recognising their shameful history. To this day they educate their young about these events and worked to ensure it never happens again. The English refuse to recognise their evil doings and the scars inflicted on the rest of the world, all in living memory.
Elizabeth Windsor sat atop a cesspit of corruption, privilege and secrecy.

Perhaps save your tears for the working class old people who are going to be cold and hungry this winter after a lifetime of hard work and not some privileged old criminal who never did a days work in her life. If she is the symbol of Britain, Britain is rotten to the core.

To be fair, lots of people had wonderful relationships with Jimmy Savile. The royal family weren't the only ones he deceived.

Novella4 · 12/09/2022 12:14

It wasn't just Savilke

RampantIvy · 12/09/2022 20:34

Goodness. You really do have an axe to grind @Member82! You really hate the Brits don't you?

I accept that parts of our history is rather shameful, and I imagine so do most people, but I doubt that many other countries of European origin have a clean slate either.

Why do you feel it is necessary to keep posting bitter rants in this thread? Do you always tar people with the same brush. How far do you take it?

Member82 · 13/09/2022 11:55

I most certainly do not hate "the Brits". I have many British friends but I cannot stomach the hollow pageantry and fawning news coverage this past week. These were not rants, just facts, that most English people know nothing about nor do they care to. The posts on here about swans and rainbows and pride and her service are beyond laughable. A national "grief" for a woman who wouldn't have spit on any of you. And now a nasty little man will continue the cycle of pomp and nonsense. I'll not post on this thread again. I've said my piece.

BunnyBusiness · 13/09/2022 18:27

Sorry Member82, if you are so appalled by the coverage of the death of Queen Elizabeth and the ascension of King Charles III then the answer is simple, Dont Watch It & Don't read About It!

Certainly don't come onto a thread set up for people who wish to share their upset over the loss of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth.

If you want to vent your spleen then setup your own thread.
