Watching Mary Nightingale on ITV break the news with her voice breaking you knew it before she actually said it.

I mean, that's a way to go out right. I don't think she ever got enough respect for what she did in an essentially man's world.

They must have held the announcement, too, ecause it said she died this afternoon. I imagine that’s what ‘medical supervision’ meant. It seemed an odd phrase at the time.

I was one of the hard hearted ones who didn't cry when Diana died. But this has really upset me.

Feel terribly sad about this. I really liked her.

I'm welling up despite being an ardent republican I can only explain it as a feeling for me that we all are mortal however great or important we may be in this imperfect world and we all leave it in the end. RIP your Maj.
