I didn’t expect to cry.

What a queen.

Thank you ma’am.

I really sobbed !
It's so strange too as I never met her

XingMing · 08/09/2022 21:22

I think crying is a really honest response. I did too, briefly. I didn't ever meet her, but I did think she was one of the REALLY good honest public servants.

Precisely !
I haven't cried like that in years !
It's so strange

It’s just so sad! I’ve been crying all afternoon. Still crying now. It’s just hard to believe she’s gone. She has always been there.

I hope her passing was gentle and peaceful and that she was surrounded by all she loved dearly. I hope she got to give her little dorgi’s one last rub before she went back up to Prince Philip.

The Christmas Speech will have a very different feel this year.

Rest in Peace dear Queen

To the person that put together the montage just played on the BBC, you have completely finished me.

A remarkable life. Unique.

My son 15, is just as moved today as my 86 year old mum.

What an amazing life.

The BBC montage is setting me off every hour too, she was absolutely stunningly beautiful in youth as she was in her golden years.

YesitsBess · 08/09/2022 22:08

The BBC have really crap footage compared to Sky IMO, Sky have polished montages and footage running and the BBC is just Clive repeating the same stuff in a studio.

I want to feel a bit sentimental and have a cry, not be looking at the same live footage of umbrellas at Buckingham palace.

I did appreciate Huw Edwards today though.

Delphinium20 · 08/09/2022 22:36

RIP. Not British, but have always loved your Queen. Quite the long life!

YoniWheretheSunDontShine · 08/09/2022 22:39

It's natural and also cathartic.
I ve been crying all evening but not solely for "her".
It's the things she represents, the thread's that bind time together being broken..

I suddenly feel quite old!
I don't like change.

It's also triggered by my losses.

It's all sorts of things. And the day has been depressing and reiny.

The heir becomes monarch instantly.

It's because of the chequered history of interregnums between monarchs.

Quite

Goldpaw · 08/09/2022 23:07

The Queen stood for so much more than herself. That's what I feel I was crying for half the afternoon. I'm a Republican, I shouldn't be that upset, but her no longer being here feels like the tectonic plates of our lives have imperceptibly shifted. Life's constants are no longer there.

Particularly coming two days after we have a new PM. It's all strange and unfamiliar.

The Queen dying also reminds me of the personal losses I've suffered, my dad who was the same age died earlier this year, and for the losses still to come. I'm grieving those changes too.

It's all a bit complicated, odd and unsettling.

testerwiki · 08/09/2022 23:14

When Harry and Meghan are brought up AND called names on the day the Queen dies which they had NOTHING to do with it then we all know what the comments are about. If its freedom of speech for the haters then it freedom of speech for it to be called out.

I was surprised by the mass hysteria when Diana died as I felt none of it...did I broadcast my opinion or just keep my mouth shut out of respect?

I neither know nor care.

Plus, social media wasn't a thing, then. There might have been the odd message board or bulletin board but both were pretty niche back then. And Internet was sllloooowwwww.

I live in Spain. I want to go to the funeral. I really want to be with everyone in London. I hope they announce when exactly the funeral will be, so I can get flights sorted. I imagine that a lot of Brits will want to fly home for it. It is homing birds wanting to go home to respect someone we loved.

There’s a, ‘order of events’ covering the next few days in some of the press and the funeral will be 10 days from today.

NanaNelly · 09/09/2022 08:03

@Mooshamoo - I’d also like to come.

Sporty2022 · 09/09/2022 08:11

Does Operation London Bridge start today ( day one of mourning)?
Ten days in total isn’t it ?

DorritLittle · 09/09/2022 08:19

I felt very sad! My mum is 74 and got her first TV set for the coronation. It is the end of a very interesting era.

Yes. It ends the morning after the funeral which is 10 days from today.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 09/09/2022 09:46

The funeral will be 10 days from today

That would make it on the Monday, which surprises me; I thought it would be on the Sunday, a quieter day on the whole for those who want to travel

Thank you for your service to our country, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Ma'am.

Rest in peace.

This is one of the most offensive sentences ever composed. Engage in this national hysteria if you must but please don't imply that she or anyone in her lineage ever did any good for Northern Ireland.

Day 10 is what’s listed on the information in the press regarding operation London Bridge. Yesterday was day zero.

Yes. Yesterday was classed as day Zero (seemingly) because it was well into the day that the Queen passed away.

worriedatthistime · 09/09/2022 12:14

@Member82 why are you on this post then ?
