I have a few but I'll just pick one. For me... the Friends background music everytime they change scenes. Particularly on a Saturday if I'm having a leisurely afternoon at home 🏡 and particularly the early epidodes when Monica was with Richard x 😊

Sometimes my 7yo ds snuggles right up to me on the sofa. His hair smells lovely, he fits perfectly under my arm and I get this feeling of total contentment that he wants to be with me.

When my daughter reaches for my hand.

A 6 second video of DS when he was 3, showing me a ‘teeny tiny totato’ (he couldn’t pronounce his p’s at that age and needed a lot of speech therapy to have even have got that far).

It makes me just feel all the feelings ❤️

Berniebean · 05/09/2022 23:23

These are all so lovely to read and have properly cheered me up - we need more posts like these! 😀

Watching 26 year old dd develop my garden. She grew veg this year and danced when she cut her first broccoli. So glad she’s absorbed some of it.

someone making me a coffee. I always feel privileged.

Ella Fitzgerald playing in the weekend as I’m pottering about (takes me right back to a golden childhood)

Drying myself with a towel that was dried on the line. A breeze and sun-dried towel is definitely crispier than a dryer-dried towel and just feels cleaner.

That moment when you’ve got people coming over and everything’s done and DH and I are waiting for them to arrive with a glass of something, knowing a night full of laughs lies ahead.

That first gin & tonic on the deck when we get up to the family home for a month of Christmas / summer.

Locking the door in the evening when we’re all home and no-one will be going out again.

Goodnight kisses on DCs’ soft cheeks.

Coming across squirrels and occasionally a rat at my allotment with their paws full of raspberries or plums and their eyes doing an "oh SHIT!" expression when I see them

You should follow Chunk the Groundhog on Instagram. It's the most wholesome thing ever - someone set up a garden cam to film the groundhogs that come in his garden to eat fruit and vegetables. He even made them a mini picnic table to eat from.

Writing my name in a new notebook, especially if it's with new ink.

This is a great one because it comes with a sideline of fear of messing it up. So when you get it just right, in your very best handwriting....ooh happy feeling right there!

Titsflyingsouth · 06/09/2022 08:28

Fairy lights - always make me smile....

When I settle down in bed for the night with the dog and give her one last belly rub and she groans happily - love that sound.

Freedom2023 · 06/09/2022 10:36

Eating triffle in the bath...bliss!

Ha I was wondering if I'd sound too odd commenting on the utter contentment that comes from hanging my baby's clothes out on the line but I see I am not alone Grin

After years of renting flats with no outside space, buying a house and being able to hang laundry out in the garden was bloody wonderful.

Fast forward five years and now there's a baby with teeny tiny socks and wee little leggings. Sheer joy every time.

@Brontosaurus

ah you made me well up!

nothing like a line of teeny tiny baby things!

& the joy of hanging washing outside!!

I had an accident last year, completely smashed both shoulder cuffs & the balls etc. total replacements. the surgeon must have thought the drugs were affecting my brain because I asked if I'd ever be able to hang washing out again (🤪) he said it was highly unlikely, but I'd just have to use a 'wooden horse'.

my (second) greatest thrill in the last 18 months was hanging my first load of washing out! 😀😀😀. It wasn't a pretty technique!! (Still Isn't ) but I can do it!!

kayaking I'm hoping next summer! It'll only ever be on a calm lake now, no more sea or river (I wouldn't be able to get back in or battle against waves/current)

(my biggest thrill was being able to pull my own pants up!! You've no idea how exciting that was 😂)

Enjoy your lovely baby 😍

Handyweatherstation · 06/09/2022 14:11

@TooMuchToDoTooLittleInclination, congratulations on being able to put washing out again and on pulling up your pants! I hope your shoulders continue to improve and you can kayak again next summer. Regaining mobility after an accident is wonderful.

Love this thread, it's making me feel all fuzzy inside.

Mine is when I'm sat on the sofa (rare haha) with ddog on one side snuggled in, and ds on the other, when he sits and strokes my arm I just feel so content in that moment.

Watchthesunrise · 06/09/2022 19:44

Picking my mum up at the airport.

Watchthesunrise · 06/09/2022 19:45

And DDog looking up at me asking for a doggy kiss ❤

VinoDino · 06/09/2022 19:59

Alone, on the sofa, looking at the rain lashing down outside with my candles on.

My 5 yo DS is non verbal autistic, with very limited comprehension. Every night at bedtime he takes me by the hand to the back door so we can look for the moon and stars. It’s my favourite time of day. We have a projector for summer but nothing beats the look on his face when he spots the real thing

That's so beautiful @HalfBloodPrincess , it must feel so special. Smile Thank you for sharing that.

This is beautiful, no wonder it’s your favourite part of the day. Such a precious moment for you two to share 💕

WoodlandMummy · 06/09/2022 21:34

A cold, crisp, bright and sunny morning. Just makes me so bloody happy. Anything related to autumn really. Coziness, dark nights, heavy rain, open fires, Halloween. And then winter, going for a walk on a bright Christmas morning with frost on the ground is for me about as good as life gets 😃 utterly joyous

When I come home and my dogs go crazy with happiness. I don’t even go out for that long but the greeting I receive is so so heartwarming.

When my dogs smile, and they really do smile with utter joy. When my dogs snuggle into
me. anything to do with my dogs makes me happy.

When my baby kicks in the mornings. I’m 33 weeks and it takes him a bit of time to wake up so I start my day and then an hour or so later, I get a poke ‘hello’. Makes me happy.

DH coming home after he’s been out at meetings all day. His big beaming smile just makes melt inside.
