I have a few but I'll just pick one. For me... the Friends background music everytime they change scenes. Particularly on a Saturday if I'm having a leisurely afternoon at home 🏡 and particularly the early epidodes when Monica was with Richard x 😊

Coming home from the school run / a day out and knowing that I don’t have to go out again. No cubs, football or beavers. Just a cosy evening at home and an early night.

I love when we have this. Especially now that it's turning chillier..

Going to bed by myself in freshly washed sheets.

This. Absolutely ♥️

cowskeepingmeupatnight · 05/09/2022 21:45

Hearing my husband sing in the bath.

jays · 05/09/2022 21:48

When I get a really good audiobook and I know halfway through the first chapter that I’m going to love it. What a lovely thread btw OP, I also like the Friends music when it’s a scene change.

Just before getting into bed I open the curtains and look at the stars for a few minutes. They're just so permanent if you know what I mean.

I have my bed directly under a Velux window for this very reason.

Backfires when we have a hailstorm at night 😂😂

Dippydonky · 05/09/2022 21:50

@PauliesWalnuts completely agree! I give blood for the message….and the biscuits!

@TeaTurtle also love a hot chocolate! My lockdown ‘treat’ was to buy a velvitiser.

But also… been alone in my house! Just me, sat, alone in the quiet calm!

Frolicinameadow · 05/09/2022 21:53

When I make my husband smile, a proper smile that reaches his eyes. It’s usually when he’s telling me I’m completely insane but he wouldn’t have it any other way.

my son putting his hand in mine when we go for a walk.
The greeting I get each day when I get home, dogs going crazy with excitement, kids come and say hello and chatter about their day. Eventually get to the husband who has a hug and a forehead kiss.

my almost teen daughter, when she needs a snuggle from her mama (even though she’s soooo grown up now).

Tiny parts of most days that give my heart a little somersault 💖

Putting out the washing and watching it blow in the wind.

When I've been out and come home and the dog is so pleased to see me it's as though he wants to climb inside me.

When I replace the cartridge in my fountain pen and the colour changes gradually from the old one to the new one.

Hitting submit when I have completed my latest OU assignment.

Minniem2020 · 05/09/2022 21:55

@BreathingDeep yours about you, your DH and your babies just brought tears to my eyes. This would be one of mine, we've just had a little weekend away with our DC and being able to have family time and appreciating them together was perfect.

Minniem2020 · 05/09/2022 21:56

I also forgot to say feeling DCs hand in mine. I really miss that when they get too grown up for it.

Galaxyinmypocket · 05/09/2022 21:57

The smell of a good fabric softener

lucysmam · 05/09/2022 22:00

That half hour of silence, with a cuppa, before everyone else is up. Especially in winter when it's dark when I get up & I can watch the world around me wake up.

The girls spend an hour or so chatting away about their days after school - sometimes it fries my head but I'd miss it if they didn't do it.

Leftbutcameback · 05/09/2022 22:01

When my favourite author has a new book coming out, especially in a detective series.

Also when a cute dog wants to say hello to you during a walk - bonus points if they sit on your feet and lean against you!

spiderlight · 05/09/2022 22:03

When my teenager is out with his mates/gf and he sends me a random silly unprompted whatsapp message or a photo. It's nice to know that I sometimes pop into his head as something other than an embarrasment/annoyance!

GreenGreenGrass23 · 05/09/2022 22:06

This is my favourite thread ever

mine is the cup of tea I’m brought before DH leaves for work and the middle of the night moves so we’re touching each other somehow, somewhere.

my teen girls when we sing in the car

My young dog, with wonderful recall, coming straight back and knowing I trained him. But tomorrow is another day and it could go pear-shaped.

this. It used to lift my heart to see my dogs come thundering back at my whistle.

BitOutOfPractice · 05/09/2022 22:12

I’ve had really lovely spicy chicken wraps for tea. I have all the separate components - the chicken, wrap, red onion, fresh coriander, yoghurt, mango chutney - all ready in my multi-compartment lunch box to take to work tomorrow. I feel like a proper grown up. A grown up with a delicious lunch to look forward to.

bellissimiaow · 05/09/2022 22:14

My cats' toes, the way they stretch them out and their little toe-beans always make me smile. And their teethies - the little front fangs that poke out even when their mouths are closed.
The way even my massive grumpy cat Reggie who will take a swipe at you for just looking at him, will sneak up onto my bed at night when he thinks you're not looking and start purring...

Hmmmwhatnametochoose · 05/09/2022 22:15

Actually doing what I'm doing at the moment. Lying in bed by an open window listening to thunder and watching lightening - it's getting nearer and nearer. I love it.

Skinterior · 05/09/2022 22:39

When I'm working and DS silently comes up and hugs me with one arm round my neck. He smushes his head against mine and then wanders off.

Back to school this week - this is the bit I'll miss.

Ladyof2022 · 05/09/2022 22:40

Being tucked up cosy in bed with my cat during a massive thunderstorm!

TeeBee · 05/09/2022 22:40

When my big burley teenage son shouts 'mum!!! I love you'. Apropos of nothing.

Bouncybouncyball · 05/09/2022 22:42

The second meal of a bulk curry I’ve cooked, even more scrummy as I’ve not slaved over a hot stove.

dropthevipers · 05/09/2022 22:51

Siting quietly by the riverbank when fishing you see all sorts of things you wouldn't otherwise, but nothing beats the electric blue flash of a kingfisher. Amazing to see them bombing up and down the river barely inches above the surface, like little fighter pilots!

Caminante · 05/09/2022 22:53

Spraying some perfume in the air just to have something nice to smell.
