Yeah, we don't have xenophobia in this country. Brexit didn't happen and Polish people don't get shit for speaking Polish.

What was that Nigel Farage used to say about not hearing any English on the trains when his children's mother tongue was German?

One or two rooms in your house that are just full of old clutter and nothing else.

If you're low-income, it's because you've got few storage options. Also, you're less inclined to throw stuff out as it can't be easily replaced on a whim.

If you're high-income, it's because you've got so many rooms that it doesn't matter.

How would speaking a second language ever be seen as "chavvy"?

It depends on the language, some languages are perceived as superior to others.

Crossing a desert in Africa on foot while potentially being shot at, then crossing a body of water in a dinghy

poor: feckless illegal probably after an easy life

rich: daring adventurer, give the man a TV series

Perfect.

Based on local gossip/FB comments etc:

Wealthy family homeschool their DC, 'don't believe in' formal exams, dress flamboyantly, primary school aged DC often sent out for the day without parents to 'have an adventure', often all sit in their garden playing music until late at night (cello/violin/trumpet), DC rarely mix with anyone outside their extended family (who all live in a similar way), tell anyone who will listen that their children don't have formal lessons, they have practical experiences eg, travel, music, fishing, crafts. Local verdict = Bit odd but the DC are clearly happy, must be hard work having the DC around all day.

Traveller families passing through the area behaving in a very similar way but without owning any property. Local verdict= How do they get away with this when we'd get fined for taking DC our of school for a holiday? Make sure your doors and sheds are locked, and keep a close eye on your DC as these people are almost certainly thieves and abusers.

Boris ….umpteen kids from various Mothers ,apparently this is acceptable in certain circles!
Local estate, considered extremely common if Mother has umpteen kids from a variety of Fathers !

But Boris isn’t a woman - as far as I can tell.

Actually its not "harmless" - its finger pointing. Nothing right with normalising the label "chavvy"

Garden ornaments

For which group? Depends what they are. Definitely not gnomes. No, not even ironic ones.

georgarina · 02/09/2022 14:47

I went to both. At the private school and one of the poshest-of-posh mums had been a heroin user when younger and passed on an illness to her kids. I believe they discussed it in a magazine interview.

At the public school you would only have heard rumours like that whispered about the roughest of families.

Speaking a second language is chavvy? You sound racist and really unpleasant.
