Think about the Queen and so on? Lol

MustardIsTheOnlyCondiment · 04/09/2022 13:24

I don't find spelling nearly as important as reading comprehension.

Indeed.

Then again being as thick as is seen as charming in the right circles.

JaneJeffer · 04/09/2022 14:01

As in LaQueen?

BlackeyedSusan · 04/09/2022 14:29

Ah, bloody hell, spent ages trying to find the right spelling for councillor as well, just to miss 'storeys'. 🙄

Cam22 · 04/09/2022 14:35

One seems to have touched a nerve.🙂

As in local government, elected official or as in someone to whom you go for support? The spellings are actually different.

Being able to spell jewellery…

Jesus ! WTF is your problem 😂😂

shinynewapple22 · 04/09/2022 16:00

@Cam22 if it's someone they are naming local authority housing after then it's going to be the elected official isn't it? Which is the spelling that the poster used .

Your kids being able to drive at the age of 13.

Kids being generally a bit grubby and unkempt (if you're rich enough, it's just "bohemian", and probably a sign that the kids will grow up to be fiercely independent and capable 🙄)

A mum I follow on sm who fits the bill as mc, calls herself an earth mother & ecowarrior... Even cringier is that she calls her feral kids... "feral, free-spirited wildlings" 😂
She's such an eco warrior that they have two hols a year plus an annual ski trip to Colorado... I guess their carbon footprint doesn't count!

the 2nd language - it depends on the languages as already said by a PP.

Polish/romanian/urdu etc etc as a first language and english as a 2nd will be viewed differently from being bilingual in another european language or learning chinese etc.

The Polish & Romanian I know are very cultured & well read with much better spoken & written English than most of the English I know... That's a mad statement!
The Eastern Europeans in dc's school with English as a second language are extremely high achievers both academically & musically...

Nobody is saying it is based in fact! Quite the reverse.

People are saying that Jacinta learning Mandarin in pre-prep is viewed as a “naice” middle class thing to be boasted about, whereas Mihaela being trilingual in Romanian, Russian and English, is being written off as “thick” for speaking with an accent.

Ewetoo · 05/09/2022 14:55

shiningstar2 · 02/09/2022 13:42

Lazy working class kid at school ...feckless ...won't amount to anything ext ext.

Lazy middle class kid ...oh He's an original. Can't be bothered with all the petty rules ...and I support him in that 😁

Oh yes a very MC acquaintance had a feral child whose "inquisitive mind always seeks to question authority figures" & "he loves & is encouraged to push the bounderies"... 😂
