Rudest encounter with a celeb I've ever experienced

1000 replies

chattp · 30/08/2022 11:17

Not that I've had many!

But Christian Bale was in London 'itsu' a few months back.

He was buying something but I'd just picked it out of the chilled section. I saw he went to reach out for it at the same time so offered it to him, as I liked something else anyway

His response? 'You've touched it. Why would I want it now?'

I was really shocked at how rude he was!

There's just no knowing, is there. People's public personas are in no way a reflection of their real selves. Good or bad.

Well I don't think this incident covered him in glory either, tbh. It all seems to correlate.

But do tell him I said hi.

anon666 · 30/08/2022 19:54

I think he has a reputation for being a tosser. A while back some technical guy recorded it and he ended up having to make a huge apology

ShirleyPhallus · 30/08/2022 12:26

Not a surprise, considering the article about her behaviour at trying to get in to sexy fish

I've never heard of her! Google didn't enlighten me much.

Imagine the egotism of thinking your one brief encounter with someone defines them as a person.

Imagine the egotism of someone who doesn't bother to read the thread title before weighing in to tell everyone off. And the ignorance not to misuse the word 'egotism'...

DeclansAFeckingDream · 30/08/2022 19:55

I met Gordon Ramsay. God he was so ... nice. 😂 Completely unexpected but he was utterly lovely and really funny. DD was about 3 at the time and he was so nice to her (obviously she didn't have a clue who he was) that I completely changed my mind about him.

Brigante9 · 30/08/2022 19:56

I met Oli Townsend at YHL. I think he was pissed, because he grabbed my hand and was very friendly! I love the photo of us! He told me how great he thought my home town was, he’d been out and very drunk there the week before. 🤣I met him again when he was doing a show and he was very different, polite but cool.

😂yeah, you would have been served up on a platter to the audience

I have cold sweats just thinking about it 😰.

Sharron Davies. Very full of her own importance and extremely rude when I met her at a local riding school.

I'm surprised to read this about Sharron Davies.

She came to my son's swimming club and gave a swimming demo / training session to the group. She went into the water with the group and was really helpful and absolutely charming.

Afterwards, she used the showers and changing area with everyone else, just chatting pleasantly.

I’ve heard he’s pleasant but I’ve never met him myself so can’t give my own impressions.

She’s obnoxious. Liked to throw her weight around. Very entitled and demanding and perceives slight when there’s been none. Will quickly resort to being loud and confrontational, and doesn’t have a problem throwing personal insults (I witnessed this but it wasn’t directed at me, for what it’s worth). From what I know from others who have had dealings with her, this was par for the course and has been for years. Got the strong impression that these specific character traits don’t go too well with alcohol.

Thank you - the slight stuff made me think she was quite fragile (have observed that on SM) and yes to a drink problem. I do feel sorry for her though. Although she is doing herself no favours sharing messages the stuff IG was sending to his daughters was awful.

He would say that, he's a gold plated twat. Beautiful speaking voice, I'll give him that.

If his public pronouncements are his fake nice persona, he must be a grade 1 dickhead underneath then.

Yeah, he's got it all upside down. Straight women didn't need to cruise because we never needed to hide our sexuality, it was never illegal and we wouldn't get the shit kicked out of us for it. Although, we did need to pretend we weren't "slags". This just strikes me as a man who doesn't have any close female friends. Hopefully his views have changed in the last 12 years.

rodeobobuk · 30/08/2022 20:10

I regularly bump into Bruce Jones (Les Battersby) in the pub in Chester.. I've sat on tables near his...

He's a vile horrible ranting piece of work.

MattDillonsEyebrows · 30/08/2022 20:11

Goosygandy · 30/08/2022 15:15

He's well known to be a nob though. Loads of stories about his entitlement.

What gets me about stuff like this, is what do their friends actually think of them? Surely there can only be one or two guests who would enjoy a divide like this, the rest would surely feel like complete nobs being divided from the commoners.
If any of my friends were to try anything like that, I'd completely rip the piss out of them and laugh hysterically.

Maybe that's why I'm not friends with any footballers.🤔

Kennykenkencat · 30/08/2022 20:14

My dd has met a few actors and celebrities through her work and there is only one who she met who was truly obnoxious. I read that the films he is in a few of the other big names who he stars alongside don’t get on with him either.

She did save one celebrity from a stalker. Hid him under a table with a long cloth over and then found his wife so she could accompany him back to his seat.

I met Kim Jong-un a couple of years ago, he was awful. I took the last packet of crisps from the counter at Starbucks and he was so rude about it & complained to the staff that he only ate salt and vinegar crisps. They eventually placated him with a blueberry muffin but it was a tense few minutes.

Whilst I myself have never stolen the last packet of crisps from him, I do know someone who went to school with him (I am aware that is a tenuous claim). Big into the Dungeons and Dragons apparently. No muffins were mentioned.

Surely saying you don't know who Christian Bale is, is a bit like saying you don't know who George Cloney is, or Leonardo DiCaprio?

I had no idea who he is either.

Jess Glynne. Awful. As were her ‘people’. Diva demands and rudeness all round.

Agreed

Isn't he just a park bench wino these days? (he always was but got lucky)

YesitsBess · 30/08/2022 20:17

Jerry Sadowictz (?) used to take huge and unpleasant delight in returning porn videos he’d bought from our store (why our record shop sold porn I will never know) and targeting young female staff to do the returns, he’d tell us why he was returning them in order to get a reaction. Not graphic enough, stuff about genitals, not enough deep throat etc etc and fucking revel in making female teenage staff uncomfortable. And he was fucking rude about it.

In the end security had a code for when he came in, and I always handled the return. I was 18 but just wouldn’t react to his bullshit. He hated me and I refused to give him the satisfaction of being ‘too edgy’ for the girls to deal with.

Absolute cock juggling thundercunt that one.

Not anymore.. he's acting still but z list b grade crap.

He regularly rants on about being a "very wealthy man" but still has to take the bus home to his village in north wales.

Chrysanthemum5 · 30/08/2022 12:31

To be honest, I'm on Nicole's side with this one. It must get incredibly annoying to constantly have people yelling to get your attention

I agree.

some people are born actors great in front of the camera, but not good with engagement closeup especially if it feels like fan-dom/adulation - they want to do their professional job and not have to deal with strangers. I get that, there's no law that says they have to do all the whistles-and-bells. It must get very tedious after a while.

Duncan Bannatyne at a Charity do making it all about him in a Do you know who I am manner He also never donated a penny

Canthave2manycats · 30/08/2022 20:23

I've always felt it was a bit crass to approach any celebrity I've met in public. I might smile and say hello, but I don't get the 'need' to invade their space?!

DH went to school with Jimmy Nesbitt, different years, but JN will still say hello and call him by his name around 40 years later if they bump into each other.

DD saw Michael Kors in NYC. I begged her to introduce herself; she was a fashion design student at the time. She wouldn't, even though I told her the worst that could happen was he might tell her to eff off... 😜
