What do I need in Ikea tomorrow?

I'm off to Ikea with a mate tomorrow, (she needs to pick up something). I already have a small shopping list but please help me with anything you think I might just need to chuck in my blue bag ...

  • Different size zip lock bags
  • Couple of pot plants for my desk at work
  • Laundry basket (£3 one, fits into gap in PAX wardrobe)
  • Big zip up bag (like the blue ones but a clear one, great for moving laundry from the machine to the washing line and back)
  • A big curtain for by the front door for the winter
  • Gingerbread biscuits

I'm fine for tealight candles, have no room in the freezer for meatballs, I don't really do picture frames and have plenty of cushions and blankets. What other useful stuff have you found there recently that I might need or have you found anything that looks particularly useful for the upcoming winter of doom? Thanks in advance :)

The pear drink (just don't make the same mistake as me and buy one for DC2) - they come in alcoholic and non-alcoholic versions. 😵

If you know any children, Ikea’s large soft toys are the best around and amazing value. My 8 yr old adores his and they are always popular as gifts!

Those cucumber silicone end sealer things come as a set of 3 sizes, great for half an onion or the top of a soured cream tub or a large yoghurt pot.

We love their glass storage with the lid for any food.

@RedToothBrush I think it depends on how well you know an Ikea store. Ours is only a few miles away so we have always been able to look at something, come home and consider it and return to buy it very easily. When we lived elsewhere our nearest Ikea was a 45 minute drive away so quite the expedition. I would say we would be under 10 minutes for shopping.

It’s a safe space here- which one did you buy for DC2 🫣😆

Agree with pp who said IKEA will tell you what you need.

The cheap colourful kitchen scissors are probably the best scissors on the market so definitely stock up on them.

They have blocks you can put in the freezer that attach to the top of a sandwich box with a rubber strap- they're brilliant!!

Sharks. They sell sharks.

Cuddly Golden Retriever seemed to be the most popular in our local Ikea the other week! Link

I hadn't understood the excitement over Ikea ziplock bags until I bought some the other week. The quality is immense!

I bought the bag clips too, so I can actually start using my clothes pegs for pegging clothes, not crisp packets.

I'm now seeing many things that I wish I'd bought thanks to this thread. DH is out this weekend. Might have to take a return trip!

Chocolate moose.

(Not a typo, some assembly required)

missverstaendnis · 24/08/2022 16:11

I just looked up the shark. Either the child model on the website is tiny or thats one big plush mammal 😳

DS has the pig on his bed, that’s cute.

After my recent trip to Cornwall, I recommend their cheapest towels for caravan holidays - think they’re called something like Dimforsen - as they dry a lot quicker than decent towels. I also go through quite a lot of flannels for clean ups, as my son has continence problems (although they seem to be resolving so they may finally be getting binned 🤞🏻) That one might be a bit niche.

This is true. I have bought expensive ones which seems as good as the ikea ones. I now have several pairs in the kitchen and use them for cutting up meat among other things. I also use them in the garden for dead heading etc.

Sorry @mrsfeatherbottom I can't find it in the uk site only the Greek one - I got it in store beside the containers at the start of the summer - attaching a pic so you know what to look for
