What do I need in Ikea tomorrow?

thesnailandthewhale · 23/08/2022 20:42

I'm off to Ikea with a mate tomorrow, (she needs to pick up something). I already have a small shopping list but please help me with anything you think I might just need to chuck in my blue bag ...

  • Different size zip lock bags
  • Couple of pot plants for my desk at work
  • Laundry basket (£3 one, fits into gap in PAX wardrobe)
  • Big zip up bag (like the blue ones but a clear one, great for moving laundry from the machine to the washing line and back)
  • A big curtain for by the front door for the winter
  • Gingerbread biscuits

I'm fine for tealight candles, have no room in the freezer for meatballs, I don't really do picture frames and have plenty of cushions and blankets. What other useful stuff have you found there recently that I might need or have you found anything that looks particularly useful for the upcoming winter of doom? Thanks in advance :)

I bought a soctopus today! Plus ginger biscuits, hooks to stop DS throwing clothes in the floor (yet to be tested if it'll still work) and the new veggie meatballs. I went for a bedside table, it was out of stock...

Should have picked up £2 beer glasses.

Chickadeeandchic · 23/08/2022 21:33

Alllllll the cuddly toys!

In the laundry section the other week I picked up this amazing multitool thing for cleaning, it's like a flash mop with scrubbing brush, squeegee attachments and all sorts! It's fab.

I also got a laundry octupus for keeping socks etc out the way of normal laundry.

They had pan sets which have a strainer section built into the lids of the pans which I thought was pretty good!

The cucumber condom. It's one of a set of stretchy silicone covers, called Overmat IIRC. Buy all sizes. Incredibly useful for jars and bowls, as well as cut veg.

That's what I was going to say. I can't remember what I did before I had them. All the sizes are so useful.

House plants.

Whitney168 · 23/08/2022 21:37

A ?Raskog? trolley - so useful for all sorts of things in this house.

DilemmaDelilah · 23/08/2022 21:38

Replacement loo brushes (yes I do use them and I don't care who knows), a set (or two) of the black kitchen tools, my daughter wants a baby bath please (she's in Liverpool), wrapping paper - it is unbleached and recyclable. Otherwise I went last weekend and got everything 😁

Loving the suggestions so far ... as lovely as he sounds I'm not sure I need a shark ... I am forever decluttering and I think he may not last too long here, sorry!

Very keen on the overmat things, had no idea they do cinnamon buns but will definitely go and find those, already have a couple of socktopusses / socktopi? and yes, they are things of wonder ;)

I have had the green tupperware tubs before but didn't use many of them, will chuck some scissors in the bag, always useful! I've got a garlic crusher already although rarely use it, have never had a dime bar so may have to try one of those :)

Sealing clips are one of those things I always mean to get but always forget to pick up so will add them to the list. Interested in the baking tray organiser, not sure where it would live though, might need to restructure my cupboards a bit but it would be useful.

Oh yes, the ginger biscuits! Definitely a big box of those. (I didn't get any) 😞

Plants

confusedlots · 23/08/2022 21:44

Oh yes I just remembered I saw really nice glasses in ikea. They were labelled as beer glasses but had a small stem, I thought they'd be great for breakfast orange juice in the mornings!

mnahmnah · 23/08/2022 21:46

Ooh and I saw an advert the other day for an amazing pink pan set

PeskyYeti · 23/08/2022 21:46

The sandwich bags are the best!

Yasss gal!

While you're there, I need my airing cupboard sorting. Don't suppose you can pick me up another Pax system?!

No problem, Bastard

(but I think I’d like payment in advance for that!)

80smercedes · 23/08/2022 21:52

Sandwich bags and napkins! Colourful ones if you are posh, plain white ones for me, 9000 napkins for a quid (or something like that Grin)

godmum56 · 23/08/2022 21:54

frozen cinnamon buns

poppym12 · 23/08/2022 21:56

Swedish fish

Twofurrycats · 23/08/2022 22:01

Pear cider. Might be too early for glogg.

Madcats · 23/08/2022 22:04

Just to warn/manage your expectations but the Bristol IKEA was busy rearranging about 1/3 of their floorspace yesterday.

They do meatball gravy in cartons now.

DD used to sleep with an earlier (grey) version of the shark.

Ah yes, the cucumdom!

Goldmember · 23/08/2022 22:11

I went last week and bought cloth napkins, bamboo chopping board, scissors, metal funnel, tiny egg frying pan, food pinchers/ tweezers alongside the Actual stuff we needed. Obviously stopped for hot dogs, cinnamon buns and donuts on the way out.

IKEA is my second home, I'm always on the app. I feel like I know the names of most items in there. "No darling, we want Hemnes, that's real wood, not Koppang or Idanas" I'm that IKEA wanker 😳.

This is amazing - I’m just about to order a sofa! You’re an actual superstar for sharing this, thank you! Flowers

Eggmcmuffin · 23/08/2022 22:22

Check out money-saving experts weekly email as they have a 10% code for ikea (it's a QR code). Bought a desk yesterday and it's just come out so very annoyed I missed it but hopefully you see this in time😀

mrsfeatherbottom · 23/08/2022 22:25

We just got a wireless charging pad for £5 because DH's phone port was causing problems. Lots cheaper than a new phone!
