Daily Project - Round Two!

We've filled up the last thread, so here's the next one!
All welcome- in an attempt to get a thing done around the home (or elsewhere) each day.
Ideally the sort of thing that will stay done- at least for a bit!

Today I have washed my shower curtain, and my 'boiling the kettle job' was to empty and clean my kitchen bin :)

Hi all- just a quick drive by wave. :)

Thanks to everyone and lovely to see @outoftimeagain again.

Thanks, all fine Chez Orange and neg tests for everyone. :)

FireworkFluster · 06/11/2022 17:53

Hello my lovelies! Time for a namechange as sunrise is so much later now, I doubt I'm doing it alone!
So sorry to hear of the stress @outoftimeagain and delighted to have you back. I love the meme you shared. I could not agree more. And also valium when desperate times call for desperate measures @Hooverphobe! I'm desperate to hear more about the Norwegian fisherman....
Hugs all round 💕
Hope you've all had some rest and relaxation this weekend! Mines been busy but I was crafty and combined some accidental Christmas shopping with (at!) work which is more multitasking than I usually achieve.
I've also been soaked to my underwear twice today, but I've had a bath and I'm in pyjamas already, and feeling all cosy. I have a suspicion that DH has fallen asleep in the bath. I'd better go and poke him.

petalpower · 06/11/2022 20:22

Loving the new name @FireworkFluster ! Sorry to hear you’ve been soaked twice. It’s been so wet here today too. Haven’t achieved much today but tomorrow is another day!

FireworkFluster · 07/11/2022 06:28

Hello @petalpower! The rain didn't stop here for more than the odd 5mins at a time. I think you're south-ish too? Though suspect it was universal yesterday. A lot of flooding round our way. Some smaller roads impassable (fairly rural) and delays on main roads where there was deep water across one lane.
Back out on the roads today so crossing fingers it's no worse, but it's raining now and there'll be run-off too.

Another Monday. Wishing you all well and I think all children back in schoolif they weren't last week? Sending peaceful thoughts everyone's way.

My spare room has inexplicably become more of a dumping ground than the study/office that it's supposed to be (DH has stolen the dining room) So I think I'm going to do something about that. And at some stage we need to repaint the front room and replace the sofa as it came from DH's house 12 years ago, 'his' end has broken springs (big lad!) and I slide off it unless my feet are up and my back is feeling the strain.

I think my daily one thing needs to focus around that 🤔

Bit of thinking out loud there 😳

Hooverphobe · 07/11/2022 07:16

Good morning @FireworkFluster - I think we can all sympathise with feeling in a fluster.

no rain here - our weather is ALWAYS the polar opposite of the south. 🤷‍♀️

I was feeling really anxious again yesterday so decided to put thy nervous energy to use and rocked through my bedside tables. Found 3 perfumes I like, but don’t love - so put them in the charity bag and immediately felt calmer.

this week’s task is to clear my sewing table as it’s always covered in other people’s junk - and to that end, today I shall order 2 baskets/tubs for children who don’t remove their shite.

OrangePumpkinLobelia · 07/11/2022 08:17

Morning all!

loving the new namechange @FireworkFluster

Back at school here but DS1 is having a hospital appointment mod morning so all hands on deck delivering children to school at different times.

Have just had a chat with DH about our Christmas budget as well. DH was a bit spendy on my birthday earlier this year so I am encouraging that it counts as my Christmas present as well.

My fridge organiser shelves should come today. I am ridiculously excited about it.

Hope everyone has a lovely day!

Hooverphobe · 07/11/2022 08:22

Speaking of shelves. I think someone here will know. I want wall-attached shelves to expand my book collection and make proper use of an alcove. All I can see online are stupid 12” flimsy things supposed to be decorative rather than functional. Where can I buy a set of about 5/6 (to do floor to ceiling) and about 2’9” across?

im asking this group because I know random home projects are your thing! 😁

good luck today @OrangePumpkinLobelia !

I’ve come into a bit of extra cash and am trying to decide between sofa/boat or electricity bill.

OrangePumpkinLobelia · 07/11/2022 08:45

Morning @Hooverphobe !

Would it be worth getting a joiner or carpenter in to give you a quote? Easier said than done though I know as i have been trying to get a quote for cupboard doors since the summer.

Thanks re the good luck. :)

Hooverphobe · 07/11/2022 08:59

Gah you’re right. Would be the best solution and of course far less likely to fall down. 😂 Right, project for this week - find a chippie!

petalpower · 07/11/2022 12:02

Fridge organiser shelves sound interesting @OrangePumpkinLobelia !
I agree about getting a carpenter to build you some shelves that are exactly the right size @Hooverphobe . When we had our kitchen and utility room renovated a few years ago we had a carpenter who built floor to ceiling cupboards in our utility room where the shelves inside were exactly the right depth for appliances, recycling tubs etc. He even built some very narrow shelves round the inside of the hoover cupboard for our jams and chutneys. Well worth it.
You’re right @FireworkFluster I’m in the south east. Still a bit rainy today but not torrential like yesterday. Definitely sounds a new sofa is order too.
Have a good day everyone.

outoftimeagain · 07/11/2022 14:19

Loving the new name @FireworkFluster . New shelves and fridge organisation sounds good @OrangePumpkinLobelia and @Hooverphobe

We had a lovely night away. I had the best nights sleep I’ve had in a while and now feel calm and relaxed. We visited North Queensferry yesterday and saw the world’s smallest lighthouse then we got some nice photos of us by the Forth Rail Bridge. Today we went to the nearby Lindt shop as I was going to treat myself to an advent calendar. I’d seen they were doing pick n mix ones so you could choose which flavours you wanted and how many but they had run out so I guess it wasn’t meant to be. I consoled myself by buying some chocolates anyway so it was worth the trip. The shops were super busy considering it’s Monday so I think I’ll be getting the rest of my Christmas shopping online.

Today’s plans are to sort through 3 boxes in the loft. Hopefully most of it is for the charity shop. The boxes are good sturdy ones so I’ll be able to store some things in there and clear some of the bags that are lying around. I’ve got my list written out for the week but nothing urgently needs done tonight so I think it will be an evening of reading my book and eating chocolate!

petalpower · 07/11/2022 18:18

Glad you had a good trip away @outoftimeagain and feel better for the break. Well done on the list but think chocolate and reading your book sounds perfect.

OrangePumpkinLobelia · 07/11/2022 19:46

Chocolate and a good book. Lovely!

Thanks to everyone.

FireworkFluster · 07/11/2022 20:29

Keeps trying to post but the scam pop up keeps popping up. MN onto it i believe.
Will try again tomorrow

Hooverphobe · 08/11/2022 07:52

I had that stupid pop-up yesterday. Malicious code injected into ads… you’d think mn could just run static ads for mark Warner/boden/range rovers and call it a day. 😉

My procrastination has led to a small win. I was planning on turning the temp of the boiler down thinking it’s wasteful to then add cold. But it’s such a tiny boiler that if I reduce the temp, there won’t be enough hot water to go around. Hurrah for laziness!

yesterday I had a really boring meeting. I turned the camera and microphone off and started sorting a drawer next to my desk which resulted in 2 more things for the charity shop and a handful of crap for the bin.

view from the back door last night when letting the dog out for a pee.

Daily Project - Round Two!
FireworkFluster · 08/11/2022 08:42

What an amazing view @Hooverphobe ! And I'm pleased you've had some successes! I think wise words from the others regarding getting someone in to sort the shelves. Locating a chippie is quite enough of a task. I laughed out loud when you referred to children who will not remove their shite 😂 Am similarly afflicted and mine don't even live here!

I've just reread my previous post and the accidental 's' on the end of 'keep' makes it looks like a nonsensical fb post. In future I shall try to write full and complete sentences 🤓

Your break sounds lovely @outoftimeagain and I can get right behind chocolate and a book. I'm stuck with 90% chocolate which is not as much fun as a Mars bar or the like, but I appear to have sugar addiction as once I start I find it really difficult to stop! I defy anyone to eat a whole bar of the really dark stuff.
@petalpower (I do love that name!) would be funny if we were neighbours. I love the sound of your pantry!

@OrangePumpkinLobelia I hope you managed yesterday's logistics and we need a picture of your organiser shelves! Actually, I have a meme for you!
I will try to find it as I'm in danger of losing this post!

FireworkFluster · 08/11/2022 08:49

For you, @OrangePumpkinLobelia

Daily Project - Round Two!
FireworkFluster · 08/11/2022 08:57

@Peridot1 is it oday you're coming home? You must be shattered! How many skips did you fill in the end?

Hope everyone else is fit and well hand 🖐

I must get my lazy arse into gear and write a list. Then decide what to do after that.

OrangePumpkinLobelia · 08/11/2022 10:02

Grin Grin

I love that meme!!

My organiser things are these;

www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B09Y17YFZZ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Not strictly shelves I guess, but stackable. I had also forgotten i had at the same time bought a magnetic whiteboard with pretty attachable coloured whiteboard markers for me to write meal plans and grocery lists and the like.

(I was the girl who adored buying stationery at the start of the school year).

FireworkFluster · 08/11/2022 10:12

Oh I can see how those would appeal! @orangepumpkinlobelia

I have been using this calendar for years. Not a flylady one but similar, and it appeals to me because there are stickers and I use different coloured pens for each member of the family.
They end up very pretty 😍

outoftimeagain · 08/11/2022 10:19

Fabulous picture @Hooverphobe . See the Northern Lights is a big one on my bucket list. Had a good laugh at the meme @FireworkFluster I’m definitely getting on as I find this sort of organisation fascinating these days. I was also the girl who loved buying stationery for school @OrangePumpkinLobelia in fact I still do I don’t have the use for most of it now but that doesn’t stop me buying it.

Tackled the boxes in the loft last night and have filled 4 bin bags for the charity shop so I’ll drop them off this morning. Last night’s plans of reading my book were scuppered when I misplaced my book. It’s in this house somewhere but I don’t know where! I’m thinking I must have put it in a drawer or somewhere similar by mistake but I just can’t work out where it is. Today’s plans are to find the book and work out how to return a parcel that was left out in the rain. It’s 2 electric items for DP’s birthday, he said just to give them to him now and he’ll check if they work or not but I feel that’s a bit rubbish. He already knows what they are as he chose them but that’s not the point. I probably wouldn’t return them if they were from a small independent company but I don’t think Jeff Bezos will be losing any sleep over replacing my items. I’m on annual leave from work today so I’m just going to potter about and what gets done and gets done and what doesn’t will just need to wait.

Have a fabulous day everyone

OrangePumpkinLobelia · 08/11/2022 10:27

ooh! i missed @Hooverphobe 's photo! That is amazing! We were in Lapland several years back but sadly missed the lights due to cloud cover! It is a dream of mine too.

Aria999 · 08/11/2022 12:06

Amazing picture @Hooverphobe !

We are having ongoing travails with the bathroom refit. On Friday evening the contractor managed to drill through a pipe. Cue floods of water through the living room ceiling.

So now they are having to open up the living room ceiling to dry it out and fix the pipe.

They are not happy, we are not happy, and it would be nice to get the bathroom back at some point! Fortunately it isn't the only one.

WinterLobelia · 08/11/2022 14:30

New name [twirl] (It's been raining so much it may as well be winter).

@Aria999 I am so sorry about your ceiling and the pipe. What an utter disaster. Thanks I hope it can be fixed really quickly and without any further troubles.

I have had a happy lunchbreak organising my fridge. Happy Days. Smile

FireworkFluster · 08/11/2022 16:30

Oh @outoftimeagain you really do have your hands very full! I hope you find your book.
@Aria999 what a nightmare! I really hope it all gets sorted out very soon!
I suspected you might change your name soon @WinterLobelia. I'd have gone for SoggyLobelia if we'd been taking bets! Quite honestly I should have probably changed to DampSquib Still extremely wet round here too!
