Songs that give you shivers

In a reflective/contemplative mood and would like some music to match...

Currently listening to The Night We Met by Lord Huron on repeat and it is suitably giving me the feels.

Appreciate that some songs will have individual emotional associations, but what are your favourite haunting songs that transcend that and give you shivers regardless?

Just give me a reason by pink - it gives me goose bumps. When I first heard it haunted me a bit… I don’t know why as I am happily married but it spoke to me so much

Mad world and Pale Shelter - Tears for Fears

OMD - Joan of Arc

Chris De Burgh - Girl with April in her Eyes, the Tower, Just Another Poor Boy

He sang a lot of ballads

The song which says, I wasn’t expecting that at the end of each line. It’s beautiful, and heartbreaking at the same time.

SherwoodForest · 20/08/2022 20:02

Lots of brilliant songs here. I will add Rainbow Eyes by Rainbow.

Ciaras version of Paint It Black. I'd not long lost my mum when I first heard it, and, to me, it sums up perfectly the grief of losing a loved one. It can still make me tear up four years later.

You are my sunshine.

Aw I've never met anyone else who finds that song emotional. Makes me weep every time, for family/memory reasons.

Youth by Daughter.

It reminds me of the last winter we spent together before my little boy died, we would spend hours cuddled on the sofa as he was so poorly.

I can't describe in words how it makes me feel now but I often play it for some strange mix of torture/comfort.

All I wanna do is make love to you by Heart gets me every time - not the music but the story the lyrics tell.

Precious Annie Lennox If I'm not mistaken she wrote it for her longed for baby
