Songs that give you shivers

In a reflective/contemplative mood and would like some music to match...

Currently listening to The Night We Met by Lord Huron on repeat and it is suitably giving me the feels.

Appreciate that some songs will have individual emotional associations, but what are your favourite haunting songs that transcend that and give you shivers regardless?

Wuthering Heights by Kate Bush. Probably an obvious one but I love it and always find it haunting.

There's a really beautiful version of this done on a singing competition. Dolores O'Riordan (of the Cranberries, since deceased) was one of the judges.

The other one that gives me goosebumps when sung by those who can hit the range of it is the American National Anthem (I'm not American), so it's not patriotism or bias.

Notable performances are by Beyonce, Whitney, Demi Lovato, Ariana Grande and Christina Aguilera. I've also seen little girls perform it. If anyone knows music or singing, it's possibly one of the wide range of notes in any one song that has ever existed.

This is one of my favourite performances, by a 7 year old lol

This is Whitney.

Into my arms by Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds

Dalint · 20/08/2022 12:08

I remember hearing Christina Aguilera being interviewed and they asked her whether she could hit a High C and she didn't know (she was 12 I think at the time) but she knew that Whitney Houston could, so she tried that out in her bathroom and hit the note.

Wow. Thanks for those clips. I have always loved the American national anthem and love singing it (badly). Also not American nor any connection with the states. I've seen Whitney sing it before but the little girl! Brilliant
