What tune does your local ice cream van play?

Mine is Popeye the sailor man.

We have Match of the Day too. I thought it was a weird choice but appears to be normal!

When I was a kid we had 2 ice cream vans that did the local area. One playing Greensleeves the other played Waltzing Matilda.

Popeye, I always comment that kids would not even know it as its so old.

Interesting fact about ice cream van tunes - they are only allowed to play for up to 12 seconds continuously.

Since I learned that, I often count silently when the strains of 'If you go down to the woods today' start, to see if Mr Whippy is adhering to this (not that it would bother me if he wasn't).

It was Match of the Day here. I love the Viz suggested lyrics to that! Now it’s The Entertainer which I thought was an improvement but it’s not when you hear it at least ten times in a row!

The Good, The Bad and The Ugly. Very loudly. Thank goodness he doesn’t come round very often but when he does he can be heard over the whole village.

I have no idea what ours is. I will find out, but Google doesn't like my humming. DH and I have our own harmonies we put to it, with our own parts.

The only problem is, the van drives so fast! By the time I realise he's on our street, he already driving past our house and round the corner. I'm not sure I'd catch up with him when he next stopped. I took DS out once to buy an ice cream, when we heard it on the previous road, but the van never turned up. Some others were there too and we were all a bit confused.

I grew up where there was no ice cream van, then lived in a flat in London where there was none either. So moving here and having DS means I'd love to buy one, but just haven't managed it!
