Am I unusually heavy for my size or do I have reverse body dysmorphia?

Name change as this is incredibly obviously outing if you know me at all.

I’m often seeing threads with women saying they weigh X amount and are Y size, or have a low BMI and wear a larger size than me or think they need to lose weight. I can’t tell if I am unusually dense (yes I’m aware that muscle is ‘heavier’ but I’m not an elite athlete by any stretch!), or just think I look much slimmer than I actually do 😂

I’m about 166cm. What do I weigh and what clothing size do I wear?

@Fairyliz, I’ve posted my pic above, I’m also a 12 in most brands. I’m always intrigued by the size/weight/height threads too as they are always so varied. Obviously build plays a part but I can never get my head around how someone 3 stones heavier than me can comfortably wear the same size.

You look stunning. I would guess a size 10 possibly a size 12.

Yeah it’s so weird, particularly when at least one of the photos on this thread is obviously edited - very wavy lines on the changing room floor!

I wouldn’t be surprised if you were secretly about 14 stone. We have a similar body shape.

I am 13 stone pp and 4 inches smaller than you. I still wear a size 12, with the exception of fitted trousers due to my body composition as I am all bum, thighs and boobs.

Even in those magazine articles where they show a row of women talking about their bodies, the sizes and weights are hugely inconsistent and puzzling. Mary, 28 is 6 foot tall 11 stone and a size 8, but she looks wider than Louise, 45, 5 ft 3, 10 stone and supposedly size 14. It could be because things like boob size and how you carry weight, but also sizes vary widely in different shops so it’s all pretty meaningless.

Whatever your weight/ size OP you look brilliant. Slim, healthy and you have lovely figure and clothes.

The only thing I can add is that according to charts for my height I should weigh 9-10 stone.
Well, I weighed 10 stone when I was very poorly and was skeletal. Very very unhealthy. The charts don’t take into account body shape or build.

Also on the topic of 10st being wait like I am 8st 13 and actually quite chubby! I am short at 5ft 3 but I would be obese at 10st!

The issue with these photos is they lack context. So for example if you saw the op next to a size ten woman you’d immediately spot she is much bigger. But on its own it’s harder to judge

i think she’s a 14-16 and is in the overweight category.

@Sally090807 what a strange thing to say. Why do you think being overweight equals not looking nice? The picture is of a lady who is a UK size 16 , the only person who seems to think that's a negative thing is yourself.

I’d also add the op doesn’t carry her weight on her tummy, I suspect it’s her backside and legs, but the photos focus on her stomach and are side on in a flattering pose for the legs.

Also, if you get the chance, hold 12, 14 and 16 clothing up against each other.
The difference is often minimal between sizes.
Due to manufacturing, sizing can also be very hit and miss. Sometimes the same item of clothing can be identical in a 12 and 14.
Remember also that a 12 in one shop is not a 12 in another shop. Styles make a massive difference too.
In other words, don’t pay any attention to labels/sizes. Try clothes on and wear whichever size fits your body shape best.

Really curious what OP actually weighs and wears now. My guess is 12-14, and maybe around 12st.

There's a trend on TikTok at the moment where women are sharing their height/weight so you can see how it differs so much and really makes a mockery of BMI!

You have a nice figure i think. Skinny or even too,slim is not attractive IMHO. . Id say possibly mostly size 14. Possibly 12 or 16 in shops with smaller or more generous sizing.
