Self-conscious about saying certain words

Does anyone else forget how to correctly pronouce a certain word repeatedly and then deliberately not use it out of fear of mispronouncing?

My word is placate. I always forget whether it is a hard C or an S sound, so I never use it even if I want to!

Is the stress on the chol (COL-uh-strol) or the es (col-ES-ter-rol)?

BTW re placate, remember 'King Adolfus': c and g always take their hard sound when followed by a, o or u (KinG AdOlfUs). So it's pronounced plackate.

Can you make yourself a little memory too for it? Like for instance 'I placate Kate'.

I have to use 'COULD schedule, SHOULD schedule' to remember the correct UK pronunciation of the word (not the US one)

Yes I do and It makes me feel stupid . I’m Canadian too so I’m constantly mixing up the British way to say certain words. .I’m dyslexic and struggle with pronunciation/words as it is so I’m basically double screwed lol

I can't say "bald", it comes out as "bowled" but apparently it's a West Country accent thing.

Pianist. Because my brain thinks I'm about to say penis and halts me, so it comes out wrong.

I seem to get prostate and prostrate wrong so I have to pause and rehearse in my head.

Also tragedy can often spill out of my mouth as tradegy.

I came on to say this! I said it once wrong, got laughed at and have never attempted to say it again. Now can’t even remember which way I said it and which way is correct!
