I'm guessings some posters pick their spuds from the ground Hmm

You know potatoes grow in the ground? And lots of people grow them? It's not a shock that some people just might pick their potatoes out of the ground!!!!

midsomermurderess · 23/07/2022 12:24

You typed all that out, Christus bikus. This place is getting odder and odder.

gogohmm · 23/07/2022 12:25

£125

donquixotedelamancha · 23/07/2022 12:25

I count 19 processed/pre made/convenience things.

19? What are they then, because you've lost me.

Come on OP, you are just being lazy by not synthesising your own Ibuprofen. Home made is much nicer than store bought.

I shop for my gran she has exactly the same things every week her one basket has gone up by £7.68 a week since January.

What used to be a £30-40 top up shop is now £70-80 shop for my family

Surely that's because of what your family buy? If yours grans has only gone up £7-8 and yours has doubled, look at what you're buying!

MercurialMonday · 23/07/2022 12:26

We spend £300-350 at Asda every month bulk of it food but also household things that's 2 adults and 3 teens.

Plain flour and toilet roll are bulk items from Amazon - and there's often top up of cat litter and occasionally cat food from on-line shops but not every month.

There are top ups especially towards end of month from Aldi and Small Tesco but we try and avoid these.

So it's roughly about £100 a week currently.

Grackl8 · 23/07/2022 12:27

Crikey OP, is that how you get your kicks😀 You need to get out a bit more!

OooErr · 23/07/2022 12:28

Itswaytoohot · 23/07/2022 12:21

Some people have wildly overestimated. They must be very well off that's all I can think.

Quite the opposite.
The only buy basics, like me, so have no idea how much things like 'premium steak and ale pies' cost...

goingtotown · 23/07/2022 12:28

£240.

BlackForestCake · 23/07/2022 12:28

Buy some washable cloths next time so you don’t have to keep buying kitchen roll

gogohmm · 23/07/2022 12:29

Shopping has gone up but not evenly so I suppose it's hard to guess other peoples baskets. We are spending around £120 for 4 adults and that includes 4 Gousto meals and lunches as we take sandwiches.

OooErr · 23/07/2022 12:29

AH OSRRY OP!
somehow misse dyour last update
sorry people

gavisconismyfriend · 23/07/2022 12:30

We’re you surprised at how much it cost or were you expecting it to be more?

takeitandleaveit · 23/07/2022 12:30

elizabethdraper · 23/07/2022 12:11

I counted 19 processed /convenience foods as well

Where? Because I've counted up several times and can't get it past 15, even with counting the 4 pies individually.

Decafflatteplease · 23/07/2022 12:30

Is this at Aldi / lidl? I reckon around £150 at Aldi / Lidl.

feetarefordancingwith · 23/07/2022 12:30

@Movinghouseatlast of course
but most of us don't have time for that.

Happymum12345 · 23/07/2022 12:30

Bargain! I think I might swap to Aldi!

Caspianberg · 23/07/2022 12:30

Whatever the price, how can you say there’s only 2 things processed on that list? When it includes things like pre made pies, some lattice thing, angel cake and microwave rice packets.

Sure a frozen pie might only cost £2. And that’s ok if your on a tight budget. But don’t pretend people spend ‘silly amounts’ because they buy all the fresh ingredients to make a pie. It’s two different things.

Whiskers4 · 23/07/2022 12:30

Depends on whether some of the products are premium or not. I'd have has as many shop brand as possible, so hopefully not more than £120, but I guess otherwise up to £150.

I guess that's not a week's shop as no milk, cereal or bread products. Being noisy, how long will it last and how many in family? Either way, enjoy.

NellesVilla · 23/07/2022 12:14

Did the OP ever disclose the final bill? Cba to read through!

Are you not able to use the see all function?

I can do you some home-made aspirin if you like!

Chewbecca · 23/07/2022 12:32

It was less than I would have predicted, but I do mostly shop at Waitrose. Maybe I should look elsewhere. In terms of too processed / over priced crap - below are the worst offenders imo. But we all do it for certain items!

4x premium individual steak & ale pies
Halloumi fries
2x Goats cheese lattice tarts
Frozen skin-on fries
Mini hash browns
3x microwaveable rice pouches
pack sliced ham
pack sliced chicken
pack sliced pork loin
stuffing mix

Viennese biscuits

Decafflatteplease · 23/07/2022 12:33

Just seen your update that's a really good price @takeitandleaveit

Can I ask what sort of meals you are making. It seems similar to an Aldi shop when I go minus the cat stuff but I come home and realise I haven't got any actual meals it's all bits and bobs admittedly stuff we will use of course. Maybe I'm just bad at meal planning!

No - not 2 processed. 2 branded.
