Ii don't know what to do. I'm in absolute agony but have no one to look after dc (she needs to sleep as had a late night and lack of sleep makes her dizzy.

I just don't know where this has come from.

Sorry I haven't thanked you all enough for your support and well wishes. They mean so much.

My mum is in the hotel with my DC next door. She keeps facetiming me and asking for "boobies" 💔 she has developmental delay and likely autism. It will be her 4th birthday in less than 2 hours. I wish she was next to me right now.

I have just spoken to the nurse in charge and completely broken down. She was lovely. She's getting a breast pump for me and she's telling the doctors they need to get a mid line in right now and put a PICC in in the morning. She's the only person who has said, "look at all your bruises". I feel listened to and heard. I'm grateful she heard me out.

I am just hoping I will get the line in asap and resume treatment so I can be with my baby as soon as possible. It's the first time I've slept alone in 4 years, my heart is empty and so is my stomach

Please, please complain to PALS if you feel strong enough to do so. I wish you well and I hope the lovely nurse is able to get you what you need to get well.

BringMeTea · 28/07/2022 22:56

Oh you poor thing. What a horrible ordeal! I hope they get some antibiotics into you soon. Flowers

It's like cat and fucking mouse here.

Doctor is refusing to follow nurse in charge's advice. NIC just kept saying they said you can go home tomorrow perhaps. Yes, I can but only after I've had 24 hours of fluids and anti emetics.

I'm to sit and wait for him to come up but he has "priorities."

I'm definitely contacting PALS. I was waiting till I was out to deal with it as a whole but looks like it can't wait. Spoken to the site manager twice, he just told me to speak to NIC. NIC says speak to the doctor. Doctor isn't available to speak to.

Another day wasted with no medicines.

I haven't had any of my usual medicines, anti depressants etc since Saturday. Having withdrawal symptoms also.

This isn't lack of NHS funding. It's like they don't like me.

Reading this thread with absolute horror, you poor thing! Your DC is in good hands, please try not to feel too bad on that account, it’s you that needs the care right now. Will be thinking of you, all the best to you for a speedy recovery and reunion with your LO.

Tearing up just reading your words. I'm so sorry. This is unimaginable. Except sadly true. Please do contact pals. You should have been listened to the first time. This makes me so mad. I hope you're better really soon 🌹

😥 thank you so much. I'm still sat here waiting so I'm going to hop on crutches down 15 floors to a and E and demand to speak to the doctor. I have no option.

Thank you for your kind words

Happy birthday to my DC ❤️

I'm heartbroken and furious for you in equal measures
I commented earlier that I thought it was outrageous and I so hoped you'd be treated better when you had to go back in the first time
Please don't worry about DC, you must be well to care for them yourself.
You're trapped in a vicious circle of incompetence and neglect
Can you contact PALS right now?
Is there a relative or friend who can come in and advocate for you?( not that it should be necessary)
Sending you love and every healing thought possible

uncomfortablydumb53 · 29/07/2022 02:40

Happy birthday to your DC..

BlodynGwyn · 29/07/2022 03:16

Oh you poor thing. You need someone fighting for you. Your children will be alright. Happy Birthday OP's DC.

user97632467 · 29/07/2022 04:01

@BlodynGwyn @uncomfortablydumb53 thank you, I will tell her tomorrow that you said happy birthday, she will be so happy. 😊

So I was so desperate that I hopped down to the ground floor to try and find this doctor. When I got to the ground floor I was faintish and I was put into a wheelchair by security by the exit doors. I was then in so much pain I had a huge panic attack. They brought me back upstairs and the nurse lied and said she didn't let me leave. (Bearing in mind I'm so dizzy that it took me about 15 minutes to hop put of the ward) and she's saying she walked past me and refused me to go?

No one was helping me. I called 999 I was that scared that I couldn't breathe properly. They left me sat in the wheelchair for 1 hour and a half because I don't have the strength to walk to my room. Finally she wheeled me into my room but she refused to help me get on the bed. I tried to roll onto the bed from the chair and fell on my infected foot and was screaming in pain. She left me. I kept calling and she finally came back and asked what I wanted. I said can you help me please. She didn't help me. I had to hold on to the bed with my upper body and move my entire lower body with just my upper body.

This reads like some bad dream. I feel like someone is playing a practical joke and a TV crew will roll in any minute saying, "this was all just a joke."

Anyway the doctor finally came and said I need a line in to have my fluids and meds but it's now so late that no one will come so I'm to wait till the morning to get a PICC line????? Like what?!

Luckily I left my phone on voice recording so the whole thing is documented.

All they keep telling me is that they're busy and overworked. I get that. But I wouldn't even be here if they had listened to me on Saturday last week. They'd have one less patient to look after.

I'm going to contact PALS in the morning. This is my 6th day without my tablets (including anti depressants) so I'm also having withdrawal symptoms. Oh and to top it off I'm heavily bleeding (not a period)

Anyway I'm determined to get these meds in and get out tomorrow even if I have to leave late evening. If they put a line in in the morning I am determined to get out for my DC.

Also to someone who mentioned a relative advocate.

I have my step mum on the phone when the doctors come so she can talk to them also. She's called the site manager 3 times and is helping me with asking the correct questions etc. She heard the doctor say I will have 24 hours of fluids and anti emetics and a picc line should this line fail. Apparently the doctor didn't write that down.

How are you this morning OP? It’s truly horrendous what you’re going through but sadly it doesn’t surprise me. A relative of mine is going through something similar in hospital. I really do hope that PALS help you although it’s often difficult to speak to them straightaway and you may have to leave a message.
I hope that a new set of doctors this morning will mean that someone takes responsibility to ensure you get the care you need.

SNWannabe · 29/07/2022 08:54

I’m shocked and disgusted at your treatment- get the name of the nurse who refused to help you and look up her name on NMC register which is on their website and report her to the NMC. In fact report every nurse involved in your care as they are continually failing in their duties as nurses. Awful

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 29/07/2022 08:56

Oh God how awful but tbh every hospital stay I've ever day seemed like a bad practical joke 😢

Really hope you get sorted soon 💐

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 29/07/2022 08:57

**had not day

silverie · 29/07/2022 09:11

How bloody awful, I am speechless!!!

It sounds like you are doing all the right things.

I am so sorry you are going through this.

WeeM · 29/07/2022 09:37

This is awful, I hope things progress today. And at least you have everything documented here for when you need to give all the details to PALS.

💐

MarshaBradyo · 29/07/2022 09:38

This is so bad

I hope you get to the end of it soon op

uncomfortablydumb53 · 29/07/2022 09:45

I'm so sorry, this reads like a nightmare and I hope the Dr on duty today will be made familiar with your case. The actions of the nurse are shocking.lacking in compassion and negligent.
I mean, everyone knows they're busy, as you acknowledge but you are fast because an emergency because of all the messing about
Im glad your Stepmum is advocating for you. When you're so unwell, you've really vulnerable
It's really useful to have recordings and documentation. You'll be able to act on these when this nightmare is over
I'll be thinking about you, and check in again

ThomasinaGallico · 29/07/2022 11:02

Jesus wept. This treatment would disgrace staff at an abattoir.

ThomasinaGallico · 29/07/2022 11:07

By the way I wouldn’t be surprised if half these ‘nurses aren’t nurses at all but lesser qualified HCAs. There aren’t many actual nurses about on the front line these days.

rubbishatballet · 29/07/2022 11:38

This is awful. Email the Chief Nursing Officer/Director of Nursing and cc the Chief Executive setting out everything that is going on and requesting their help. Names and possibly emails will be on the Trust's website and if no email just try first name.surname @ whatever the Trust's address is for generic info type emails. Do it now so that they can look into this before the weekend. An email like this received at my trust would not be sat on.

rubbishatballet · 29/07/2022 11:39

Cc the Trust Chair for good measure too.
