Ii don't know what to do. I'm in absolute agony but have no one to look after dc (she needs to sleep as had a late night and lack of sleep makes her dizzy.

I just don't know where this has come from.

Did you also have COVID recently? Any family history of DVT? Any chest pain? I would be more concerned about pulmonary embolism which is a complication of DVT.

Unilateral leg swelling, bluish purple toes, childbearing age. DVT needs to be excluded. The blood test would be Ddimer. However yours might already be positive as you mentioned blue bruises/microclots.

WotsitsQuavers · 24/07/2022 09:36

Positive D dimer doesn't always mean DVT as there are other things that can make it positive.

Get to hospital urgently as you risk losing your foot or worse your life if you don't!!

Infections don't need a wound. I had Septis that started like this but with swollen fingers & hand. I nearly died. This is not something to mess about with, the faster you get medical attention, the better chance they have of saving you/your foot

Have you read the OP's posts? She's been to hospital.

Bruising easily can be due to vitamin deficiency.

Nope, I missed that @WeAreTheHeroes Blush

But I'd still say to go back as that doesn't sound right to me at all.

Yes vitamin deficiency can mean you bruise more easily, it doesn't cause bruising though & swelling & heat like that needs more thorough investigation than appears to have been done here

WeAreTheHeroes · 24/07/2022 10:20

I'm not a doctor, she needs to allow time for the antibiotics to start taking effect, but needs to act if they're not working.

Still can't sleep. :( I'm worried about DVT now, had an hour's flight twice in the last week

Go back to A&E OP. Don't let them fob you off.

RockinHorseShit · 24/07/2022 10:28

I should have perhaps added...

When this happened to my hand, my hand infection needed to be drained, so they kept me in for that, wired up with tubes in & out of my hand & I was on very strong IV antibiotics & strong IV pain killers too. I'm surprised they haven't kept you in to have it drained, as the antibiotics they have given yiu say they know it's an infection

user97632467 · 24/07/2022 21:16

I'm gonna go back.

These are the bruises I have.

My blood also clots a lot and they can never do blood tests.

Something isn't right.

Thinking of you and hopeing you are OK and get the correct treatment xxx

woolwinder · 24/07/2022 21:41

When I got cellulitis in my left leg and foot in 2007, I had to go in the Bristol Royal Infirmary for a weekend and have IV antibiotics. When I had it again in early 2022 the doctor gave me a one week course of oral antibiotics. I mentioned what treatment I had had before and asked 'Why the difference?' The doctor said 'Fifteen years of progress, plus we don't admit for this sort of thing nowadays. I'll call you in 24 hours to see how you are'. However, if you are vomiting and can't take oral antibiotics you really, really need to be seeing a doctor SOON especially with those bruises.

AIBAnxious · 24/07/2022 21:55

I just wanted to add that it really sounds like you need to go back - you need antibiotics and if you can't keep the oral ones down it will continue getting worse. The bruises look scary but I'm not a doctor. If anything has got worse though I would go back straight away. I had cellulitis in my hand once and it took 3 visits to A&E over 2 days before they gave the iv antibiotics. The oral ones juts weren't doing the job. Sometimes you just have to persist to show them it's getting worse before they take it seriously.

abdidab · 24/07/2022 22:04

I really hope you are back in hospital. Make sure they appreciate that you Long QT as a temperature can be dangerous.

abdidab · 24/07/2022 22:04

As can vomiting if it disturbs your electrolyte balance.

ElphabaFlies · 24/07/2022 22:10

Please make sure you mention the bruises - they could be a really important clue.

uncomfortablydumb53 · 24/07/2022 22:21

I hope you're back in hospital and they are treating you well

HollowTalk · 24/07/2022 22:35

Oh I really think you need to go to A&E urgently. Do you have someone to look after your daughter?

"... randomly..."

Could this be an adverse effect of the covid vax . Vaxed? Boosted? Boosted recently?

Or it could be COVID or post COVID infection

SweetSakura · 24/07/2022 23:38

How are you doing @user97632467 ? I hope you made it back to hospital ?

Or it could be COVID or post COVID infection

Well, the photos are reminiscent of some of injuries shown on various vaccine-damage reporting sites and channels.

I suppose what you suggest is possible too - have such things as a result of covid infections?

I guess if the OP wanted to, she could confirm her covid or jab status. Hope she recovers, whatever the cause.

the drs thought what I had was cellulitis. My foot was sore, very swollen and hurt to walk on it, put a shoe on it, etc. after testing, warfarin (incase of blood clot) and countless bloods and drawing on me it turned out I had a lymphatic drainage problem that had just appeared randomly.

Please do get cellulitis ruled out because it can be dangerous.
