We're in the garden with nice cold drinks.

We can hear the traffic and occasional sirens - we're on a main road and near all the emergency services.

Ds2 is wittering away, in the house.

Dishwasher draining behind me.

The local rook family is being very vocal.

And on either side, there are chattering, scratching and squeaky sounds. A bit like demadogs 😱

Unfortunately my neighbour's young children who play out every night in the summer months until midnight.
They only got out of the paddling pool 30 mins ago, but at least they are screeching now :(

Furrybutts · 18/07/2022 23:15

Aren't not are

Itslookinglikeabeautifulday · 18/07/2022 23:18

The motorway, very, very faintly. And Dh breathing next to me (always falls asleep first)

generalh · 18/07/2022 23:19

Rain! It is raining in my part of South Wales.

PickAChew · 18/07/2022 23:19

Torture, @Furrybutts though hopefully they will sleep in if they don't have school, tomorrow.

TV and the dog is snoring. It’s remarkably quiet round here despite being very urban. There is zero noise at night, we are very lucky.

ThackeryBinks · 18/07/2022 23:21

Diffuse traffic noise
Dishwasher
Shower running

echt · 18/07/2022 23:22

I can hear the following birds calling: currawongs, magpies and sulphur-created cockatoos.

Blanketpolicy · 18/07/2022 23:23

Loud humming (tinnitus is a bitch) and ddog making noises (dreaming)

marmitecake · 18/07/2022 23:25

The hum of the air conditioning in our room in a resort in The Canaries where's it's 28 degrees (sorry!), and my tinnitus.

BrianWankum · 18/07/2022 23:28

Someone’s car running outside my house.

FlowerPig · 18/07/2022 23:30

DDs sound machine which plays Brahms Lullaby ALL NIGHT and is louder than usual with her bedroom door open. DP snoring, the TV he isn't watching, occasional traffic and the fountain in the pond which is definitely the best of the bunch.

Dontwanttoberudeorwastetime · 18/07/2022 23:31

The neighbour has his friend over and they’re quietly chatting in the garden with a couple of beers. It’s not loud enough for me to hear what they’re saying but the low rumble is quite comforting.

AllLopsided · 18/07/2022 23:32

The fan; DH snoring; crickets.

2tired2bewitty · 18/07/2022 23:33

Dh having a shower and a bit of traffic.

Saralyn · 18/07/2022 23:34

Lying in bed in my dad’s house. Can hear crickets.

usingwhatsleft · 18/07/2022 23:35

Tractors

missdemeanors · 18/07/2022 23:35

Very faint sound of a plane
Owl hooting
Floorboard creaking: dh on his way upstairs to bed
Blissfully quiet where I am, which I adore

tapdancingmum · 18/07/2022 23:42

The hum of the Aircon, DH snoring beside me and Lily the hamster just coming out for the night.

SunflowerSmith · 18/07/2022 23:44

The dog panting and dh breathing

IamEarthymama · 18/07/2022 23:50

Water spraying in the garden as DW tries to keep the plants alive.

Robert Glenister narrating The Silkworm by Robert Galbraith, my current relisten, in preparation for The Inkblack Heart in August.

The dog mumble-growling in his sleep.

Time for bed now, earmark headphones on listening to Agatha Christie narration by Hugh Fraser, makes me very content and sleepy 😴

IamEarthymama · 18/07/2022 23:51

Ear MASK…

I can hear the following birds calling: currawongs, magpies and sulphur-created cockatoos.

I had to look those up. Are currawongs as much of an arsehole as a magpie?

The fan. I've just paused the Tv, otherwise I'd be listening to the screeching of Stranger Things but I'm about to head into the kitchen for a fortifying snack and another cool drink.

PickAChew · 18/07/2022 23:57

It's about that in some parts on England, tonight, though only (haha) 22, right now, in my part of the Northeast. Still 27bin my dining room and I'm about to find out how horrific the dormer bedrooms are.
