Most underrated Disney films?

Hi

We’re going to Disney World soon (my 6th time, but first for DC), so we’re watching Disney films a lot to get in the mindset! I have two boys who aren’t massively into the princess films, although they have watched them. I have found they love Hercules and Tarzan - ones you never hear people talk about. I also can’t remember any rides or attractions or merchandise for them at Disney. I love them too - really feel-good and great music. The 90s Disney films were fab.

Any other underrated Disney films I should watch with them?

Hunchback of Notre Dame ❤️

takeitandleaveit · 17/07/2022 21:50

Has anyone mentioned Brother Bear?

SirenSays · 17/07/2022 21:50

Hercules is so underrated! No one has seen Yhe Black Cauldron, my DH thought I had made up Gurgi 🤣
Not sure if they're Disney films but I've have shout out The Land Before Time and The Brave Little Toaster

If they liked Tarzan I think they'd like, Atlantis and Treasure Planet.

Iwasjustasking · 17/07/2022 21:52

Big hero 6, my favourite ever Disney movie and so underrated!

Wbeezer · 17/07/2022 21:53

My boys loved Brother Bear and the sequel.

takeitandleaveit · 17/07/2022 21:57

Lady and the Tramp

mnahmnah · 17/07/2022 21:58

Big hero six has been watched a lot!

I find the Hunchback too upsetting I can't watch it!!

KohlaParasaurus · 17/07/2022 22:17

Another shout for Basil the Great Mouse Detective. And we also loved The Rescuers and The Rescuers Down Under, although the stereotypes make my toes curl a little now.

Lovely christmas one called the small one

boobot1 · 17/07/2022 22:29

Oh yes and darby O gill and the little people.

HerbErtlinger · 17/07/2022 22:30

My 5 yr old DS is obsessed with:

Encanto
Luca
Alice in Wonderland
Nightmare before Christmas

fatlazycow · 17/07/2022 22:40

Do you live action Disney’s count?

If so I vote Holes- all-round awesome movie and awesome book.

also love the princess diaries and freaky Friday.

Animation-wise Mulan (still cross the live action did not include songs nor mushu!) and Tarzan

UglyModernWindows · 17/07/2022 22:47

Please check out Eight Below. It’s not an animation but it has huskies and the gorgeous late Paul Walker in it.

I also absolutely adore Wall-E!

MyCourageAlwaysRises · 17/07/2022 22:51

Bolt is massively underrated, my siblings and I are all adults now and we all still love this film.

mnahmnah · 17/07/2022 22:58

@UglyModernWindows

I’m a fan of Paul walker in that! My eldest watched it when he was little and got very very upset when they abandoned the dogs! I spent the rest of the film looking one step ahead on Wikipedia and skipping then as bits!

@UglyModernWindows eight below makes me cry, I wouldn't put a child through watching it! 😂

ArtichokeAardvark · 17/07/2022 23:03

I was going to say Hercules but you've got it in the OP!

Otherwise my DS (aged 5) loves Peter Pan, Bedknobs and Broomsticks, and 101 Dalmatians which I don't think has been mentioned yet!

mnahmnah · 17/07/2022 23:08

@ScruffGin at the time I thought ‘Disney, dogs, good’. Didn’t occur to me that it might traumatise him!

Ooh, I'm jumping straight in with Frozen. Is that Disney? I have no young kiddies so am out of the loop.
It was beyond underwhelming. Generic rubbish.
Also The Lion King.
🤭😬

Justleaveitblankthen · 17/07/2022 23:10

Oops! Underrated you say? 😳
I'll get me' coat..

Bells3032 · 17/07/2022 23:18

Onward!! Absolutely phenomenal film and as someone who lost a parent fairly young it was very accurate emotions

RafaistheKingofClay · 17/07/2022 23:19

Definitely Robin Hood.

Whatevernext1 · 17/07/2022 23:34

Pocahontas
Bedknobs and Broomsticks
Lady And The Tramp
The Little Mermaid
Honey I Shrunk The Kids
Aladdin - the original cartoon version
Muppet Christmas Carol (not sure if this is Disney?)
