No.

Been in far worse plenty times, and provided you are sensible it really isn't a big deal.

Kezzie200 · 17/07/2022 03:26

I'm worried about my elderly Dad. We lost Mum in May and he's trying to give up driving. He's got a blood test on Tuesday and intends to walk to it. Probably 2 miles each way and hes 81. In normal circumstances it would be a good thing, to keep him occupied and moving, but I think I should suggest an alternative to him for Tuesday.

I expect he will resist my advice though because he's been trying so hard t9 do these things

Kezzie200 · 17/07/2022 03:28

For me, no. I'm off swimming in the sea again tomorrow. Then ill come home and chill under the gazebo. Its lovely.

SirenSays · 17/07/2022 03:45

No, I'm worried about the vulnerable and those that have to work in the heat. Personally I love this weather!

tonystarksrighthand · 17/07/2022 03:53

No. Lived in Spain and had this weather all the time. Kids still went to school. Yet again mass hysteria in the U.K. media frenzy

Pedallleur · 17/07/2022 08:32

People pay ££ to go to Dubai, Turkey etc. Doesn't seem an issue then. Billions work in hot countries or even a few hundred miles away in Southern France, Spain etcand they get by.

lickenchugget · 17/07/2022 08:33

No

IslandGardens · 17/07/2022 08:33

No not worried at all

quiteathome · 17/07/2022 08:38

Not really, I am working from home tomorrow. I am more worried that this will happen more and more frequently as part of climate change though.

RichardMarxisinnocent · 17/07/2022 08:42

I'm a bit worried as the heat in my flat by the afternoon earlier this week made me feel a bit ill. I'm considering staying at the office until the evening Monday and Tuesday as it's cooler there, instead of coming home.

Sparklingbrook · 17/07/2022 08:43

No. Looks like by Wednesday it’ll be back to normal.
I am more worried about how worried some people are getting about it.

Frazzled2207 · 17/07/2022 08:45

Not particularly about the next few days no although not looking forward to it

about climate change and this becoming a new normal, yes absolutely

PrachtStück · 17/07/2022 08:46

I’m Spanish and grew up there so no, not worried. I’ll dress appropriately, take water with me everywhere, it’ll be ok. Unpleasant, yes, but it’s 2 days. These temperatures are constant where I come from, early June to late September. We still went to school / work, and there was no aircon. Like I said, unpleasant but not worrying.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 17/07/2022 08:46

I loathe the heat but it's only 2 days which helps knowing it'll be over soon enough.

I'm going shopping in a minute so I can stock up on food that doesn't need cooking!

MeanderingGently · 17/07/2022 08:49

Yes, I'm really worried, I hate the heat. It literally makes me throw up when it gets too hot, I can't think straight, I have no energy and face eating. I drink gallons to make sure I am hydrated so no, it isn't dehydration that does it, it's the heat. As the heat rises I become slower and slower, I have to do things very carefully otherwise I make stupid mistakes. It also makes me feel very depressed, I have this feeling of gloom and doom while it's very hot which only lifts once it gets lovely and cool and fresh again.

I work in hospitality, the job is heavy and involves lots of carrying and running about. I will have to be in for a long shift all this week, including Monday and Tuesday. I do not know how I will cope. I'm goign to take a T-shirt with me and ask whether I can wear it, because our uniform is too hot and has a high neck collar.

At home I have air conditioners plugged in and running, curtains closed and a fridge full of ice cubes, as well as no-cook meals ready. I could cope for a couple of days keeping quiet at home until the heat passes but to go into work is another matter. I genuinely can't understand how anyone can like this sort of heat, it really is beyond my comprehension!

AmongstTheCosmos · 17/07/2022 08:50

Yes. I'm concerned about climate change and that this will become a new normal for the uk which will be disastrous for our flora and fauna, who have adapted to much cooler temperatures.

I am also concerned because we do not have the infrastructure in this country to manage very high temperatures. Very few homes have air conditioning, and many public buildings also lack it. This means that people aren't able to have a respite from the heat which puts stress on their bodies.

FriedTomatoe · 17/07/2022 08:51

I'm not worried for me or my kids. I'm a bit worried about my dog though.

GreenManalishi · 17/07/2022 08:52

Have these people that are "worried" about two days of hot weather never stepped onto a plane to Spain for a fortnight? I'm so baffled at the hysteria. Half the world deals with it on a regular basis, but anything other than a fine drizzle and we are all feeling the fear!
It's just common sense, stay in the shade, slow down, if you feel hot have a cool shower, and sit near a fan, stay hydrated. Panic not, you'll be back in your jumper cooking a roast by Wednesday. I used to live in Canberra with a roofer, and he used to return home from work every day sweaty and tired, but alive and well (more's the pity, but that's another story 😂)

bloodywhitecat · 17/07/2022 08:53

No. This has been my year from hell so far and I have a hard time coming again this week so I am determined to just take the next few days in my stride.

GreenManalishi · 17/07/2022 08:54

... and it's a myth to say that all homes in hot countries have air conditioning, they simply do not. Some do, but the ones that don't don't just self combust! They deal with it.

ClocksGoingBackwards · 17/07/2022 08:55

Not worried at all because the vast majority of us will be perfectly fine.

hopeishere · 17/07/2022 08:57

I'm not worried as it's not going to be that hot where I am. However I would definitely not recommend your dad does this. Can you give him a lift or could he get a taxi?

Harridan1981 · 17/07/2022 08:57

Not looking forward to it as not a fan of heat, but not worried. But we live in a big house with areas that keep cool, have a big shady garden, have parents with a proper swimming pool for cooling off in, and are near hundreds of beaches for early/late trips. I can understand why many may be worried.

User8394721 · 17/07/2022 08:58

No, DH has gone off camping up north so not quite as hot for him, means I have the house to myself so can just draw the curtains, not have to bother about proper meals and watch box sets.
