No, I'm going to get some shopping in about an hour, then back home and I will probably stay indoors or sit out on the patio in the shade and read a book.

Just looked at the met office and the hottest temperature is forecast in Central London at 36 degrees.

Where we are in the SE it is predicted to peak at 33 degrees. Feeling very annoyed that my son's school has advised everyone to stay home.

Met office is predicting slightly lower. My phone says 41 for tomorrow but met office says 38. I hope the met office is right!

No. I think the prediction of 40 is off. We won't see it but this will go down in Mandela effect history as the summer of 40 degree heat because it has been so relentlessly pushed on TV and radio and social media

More effort could have been put into warning people not to swim in dangerous waters, which we get every summer, which would have saved more lives

Yes, because where’s the fun in saying ‘a few places in the UK could reach 40 for a small part of the afternoon, but it’s not guaranteed - late 30s is looking more likely. If you live in those places then take appropriate precautions during the afternoon. More than half of the country will have temperatures of less than 35 - 35 being the top temperature, lasting for maybe 2 or 3 hours, possibly less, in the late afternoon. For the majority of the day most parts of the UK will in fact be no warmer or just a few degrees warmer than yesterday…’

Yes... my 4yo DD is extremely vulnerable bless her, she has profound disabilities and seizures alway increase when she's hot and tired - she's also been very unwell with the heat in general. It makes her vomit and limp. It's awful to see. I also have a young baby so not feeling overly relaxed Sad

BeerPongChampion · 18/07/2022 09:33

I’m not worried but then I’m healthy and don’t have to do much at all today. I’ve changed some plans I had as I don’t like the heat so will do them next week when it’s cooler. I’m a bit concerned for family and friends that have health conditions and work outside or need to travel in London today. And I have sympathy for anyone who is struggling. I’m concerned for my dogs and other animals that will struggle.

I posted that it was 28 where I was yesterday because that’s what the met office said it was. When I checked the actual temperature, it was three degrees warmer.

No, of course not. But I am extremely fed up with all the media hysteria - even on Radio 4, ffs!

Wrong thread. I’ve reported for deletion.

Is anyone more worried about the heat in UK today after all the reports of wildfires and the major incident declared in London as a result?
