Won't lie i think too much news and media coverage of it has got to me im actually quite concerned now about the heat , we're in a red zone with it likely to be 39.c mon+tues , I only have the school runs to do but im not even looking forward to that.

No it’s wonderful!!
I am concerned about what this means for climate change though.

WTFGG · 17/07/2022 13:42

I think anyone who says it’s all hysteria are the same who said during the pandemic that “only the vulnerable will die “ !! But your “only” is my “all “. Great that some people are lucky to have perfect health but when you have a family member with complex health needs events like this are a worry . We’re prepared as much as we can and hope our DC stays well . Please don’t dismiss some people’s concern for their family members as hysteria hyped up by the media !!

@takeitandleaveit Have you heard of Jelly Drops, they might help.

Thank you Smile

She's just never been one for drinking much. You can give her a glass of water and she'll take a sip, then hours later have another sip. If she remembers. She has carers going in three times a day (although we will check that they turn up at the right time over the next couple of days), so hopefully they will keep an eye on her fluid intake.

Wartywart · 17/07/2022 21:42

No, I was pregnant and living abroad when it hit 50 degrees one summer. We all coped.

TheChosenTwo · 17/07/2022 21:49

I’m absolutely not worried in the slightest. I’ll be in a classroom, I know it will be hot, we have measures in place.
im not looking forward to it by any means but I’m not concerned!!

feedyourheed · 17/07/2022 21:50

I'm not worried. I lived and worked in a very hot country and managed okay. You get used to it.

100%. This attitude of “I know better then the experts” that is lingering from COVID is beginning to grate. They don’t just issue red warnings for no reason, and oh my god if one more idiot mentions Spain I’ll pack the fucker off on a plane myself. 2 years of a pandemic has given these people something akin to a lobotomy

It takes weeks for your body to aclimatise to hot weather, not two fucking days where the rise in temperature is severe and unusual.

feedyourheed · 17/07/2022 21:53

I've just been reading about the crazy 'climate change' weather patterns, droughts and heatwaves in the early 1300's. It puts things into perspective - these things are cyclical and happen regardless of us. It's an interesting read.

Im bored, sick and tired of the scaremongering and listening to excuses why this shitshow of a country won’t carry on.

I’m bored, sick and tired of the gimps in this country that think they have more knowledge on literally any subject than the experts in that field but then thems the bastarding breaks isn’t it!!

HijadelaLuna · 17/07/2022 21:56

As a European from the continent i am finding this hysteria about some hotter days completely baffling considering the amount of brits who are perfectly happy to travel to places like Dubai. I do agreee that climate change should be taken very seriosly but there are so many countries worse off without stopping live…

Absolutely, it’s embarrassing.

Toohot22 · 17/07/2022 21:58

Dubai is predicted 41 degrees tomorrow and 42 Tuesday. Where I am it is 40 and 41.

feedyourheed · 17/07/2022 21:59

It is embarrassing. It's not even that unusual in the UK. The media are hyping this up and freaking everyone out. Just like they did about covid. Judging by the comments the same people are getting in a frenzy.

Tip: turn off the telly. It's melting your head more than a bit of summer sun will.

HijadelaLuna · 17/07/2022 22:00

Sorry typo- without stopping living because it is warm- and no we do have air con in private houses either

Really , not unusual to be 40 degrees? Sure 🙄

HijadelaLuna · 17/07/2022 22:34

It really isn‘t unusual for most of the world😳 it is in fact a lot hotter in many countries. just stay in the shade and hydrated and you‘ll be Fine.

Shade? What shade? My flat is south and west facing, no shade in here after about 11am. It's currently 27 degrees in my bedroom. My office at work tomorrow is on the shady side of the building, and hopefully will be a bit less hot than my flat, but it still won't be anywhere near cool.

41 degrees forecast here for tomorrow. Not unusual - really? It's going to be the same temperature as Dubai.

The difference is that the places Brits travel to in Dubai are all fully air conditioned....

LT2 · 18/07/2022 06:53

Yes. Really only because I have a baby though. He's 6 months. I'm not super worried, but I'm not looking forward to it. He gets grisly being stuck at home, and when it's hot - we have a much happier day when we go out! We've been at home with covid for the past week. He is also a very clingy baby, so wants carrying around a lot🥵 baby group on got cancelled understandly, so we haven't got that to go to. I do at least have my DH at home.

PoorMegHopkins · 18/07/2022 07:03

Yes I’m worried. Worried that I’m responsible for a room full of children and I have to watch to check they are not becoming ill.
Yes I’ve been to Spain but all I had to do there was dip in the pool then lie about drying off, then dip again. Also - tiled floors and aircon.
My carpeted classroom that gets full sun at lunchtime is slightly different.
Its literally never been this hot in England. There’s a red warning because people might die. Healthy people. It’s not just the media.

Wheretheskyisblue · 18/07/2022 07:09

Just looked at the met office and the hottest temperature is forecast in Central London at 36 degrees.
www.metoffice.gov.uk/weather/forecast/gcpvj0v07#?date=2022-07-18
Where we are in the SE it is predicted to peak at 33 degrees. Feeling very annoyed that my son's school has advised everyone to stay home.

Crackercheese · 18/07/2022 07:12

It’s 39 here.

saleorbouy · 18/07/2022 07:12

No, with a bit of planning and common sense it'll be fine.
Having worked worldwide I've experienced hotter and survived
Seek shade and hydrate.
