Pie place near us does sweet and savoury pies and for the sweet, does build your own pie-scream sundaes so I’ve just eaten a slice of banana cream pie, caramel sauce smashed up with vanilla ice cream and toasted pecans

Pesto and Gruyère-topped cod, baked on a bed of Mediterranean vegetables.

Strawberry ice-cream, made in my ice-cream maker from fresh strawberries.

Pasta with a courgette, lemon, Parmesan and pine nut sauce. Sounds weird but was lovely.

I make that and it’s delicious.

Could I be cheeky and ask the quantities of water v pecorino?

We had a food tour yesterday and I'm gobsmacked that, according to our Italian guide, they rarely eat other cuisines. She'd never tried Indian or Thai food and had had Chinese once. I like Italian food a lot but I love eating different foods.

I have an Italian friend living in the UK who only seems to eat Italian food.
We went out for dinner & she booked a pizza restaurant. Went for a McDonalds with the kids & she had the ltalian summer chicken thing 😂
Each to their own - she's given me some great, simple recipes.

Best food this week: smoked salmon with scrambled eggs and dill mayo. I could eat it everyday.

Cold nectarine out of the fridge. Amazing.

Sirloin steak medium rare with homemade onion rings and mushrooms about 15 mins ago.

NiqueNique · 13/07/2022 18:59

Fresh cherries.

Fresh strawberries (pick your own).

Prawn and courgette linguine with basil, garlic and chilli.

Steak and a broad bean salad, with freshly baked ciabatta on the side to dip into olive oil/balsamic vinegar.

@AmbushedByCake that sounds fantastic.

God, I miss gelato in Italy. 😭😭

pastapestoparmesan · 13/07/2022 19:02

Ice Kitchen and Lickalix ice lollies. Better than homemade.

A580Hojas · 13/07/2022 19:05

Either the paella I made on Tuesday night or the avocado, tomato, mozarella and basil salad I made last night.

NiqueNique · 13/07/2022 19:06

@Freeasabird76 Now I wish I had made onion rings for our steak dinner. 😡😡

A salad made with sliced peppers, red onions, ginger, chilli, coriander, mint and lime juice. We had it with wraps and some spicy chicken. It was so good we had it again the next day.

Recipe please!!

Homemade lasagne & hmade garlic mozerella bread
Homemade fudgy dark triple chocolate cookie 😍

Justcashnosweets · 13/07/2022 19:10

I made a steak sandwich that I had seen on Instagram. It was mustard mayo, leaves/lettuce, medium rare steak sliced up, cambazola cheese and homemade caramelised onions. It was one of the most delicious things I have ever made and eaten, and I can't stop thinking about it.

Freeasabird76 · 13/07/2022 19:10

@NiqueNique Sorry 😋😋
Was a very rare treat.

Probablyfine · 13/07/2022 19:12

Also homemade potato salad with grated carrot, red onions, diced celery, honey caramelised walnuts, Mayonnaise & ranch dressing, chilli flakes. I'm going to add chopped apple as we'll next time! We had this with quesadillas.

I had my first ever steak on Saturday. Sirloin and cooked by DH. Ate it in 5 minutes. Felt amazing and think I'm addicted.

I'll never ever forget the first time I had a steak.

It was May 2001.

NiqueNique · 13/07/2022 19:14

@Justcashnosweets Now I’m doubly angry! 😡😡😡😡

LOVE a steak dinner. Love a great steak sandwich. Love steak and cheese.

KittyCatsby · 13/07/2022 19:15

An avocado blitzed with some lemon juice and olive oil , a little salt & pepper and poured over filled pasta . Delish .

Ipadannie · 13/07/2022 19:15

Bad girl bakery muffins. Bloody lovely

PlanetNormal · 13/07/2022 19:17

Perfectly ripe white peaches from M&S. Just divine, like something you would buy from a market stall in the south of France.

NiqueNique · 13/07/2022 19:18

@BeanyBops that actually gave me a properly warm fuzzy feeling inside! Happy for you.

@CuttedUpDress I can still remember the first time I had a steak. T-bone, fresh off the barbecue with a garlic, parsley and chilli butter. 30-odd years ago. Heaven.

CottonSock · 13/07/2022 19:18

I did a nice corn and black bean salad. Zingy with lime and coriander.

darlingdodo · 13/07/2022 19:21

Prawn curry with basmati rice and summer pudding with thick yoghurt. Not on the same plate.

takeitandleaveit · 13/07/2022 19:26

Last night's freezer tapas 😂

What a mixture. Three onion bhajis, a naan bread, half a piece of cod left over from our last fish & chip supper, four sausages, some slightly freezer-burnt prawns, a mini kiddy size cheese & ham pizza, and something equally as delightful but has been erased from my memory. Just as well, to be honest!

takeitandleaveit · 13/07/2022 19:26

That was between three of us, I didn't eat it all!

Trixiefirecracker · 13/07/2022 19:27

I’ve been making what is weirdly called the Jennifer Aniston salad. It’s very moreish. I’ve stuck avocado and loads of feta in it and olives. Yesterday had it with homemade asparagus quiche and baby salad pots. Yum.

neerg · 13/07/2022 19:28

Last night I had sea bass on tarragon sauce with smashed potatoes.
It was my first Hello Fresh dinner and I was impressed!!!!
