What do you secretly think looks fun?

You might never do it, or you might do it once you’ve got some courage.

Mine is LARPing. It looks like so much fun. But I don’t think I could ever do it

Doing air acrobatics, red arrow style. In real life I struggle with the mildest rollecoasters and regularly get car sick.

dolobug · 13/07/2022 14:52

Being a cougar😳

Being a cougar😳

😂

Flaunch · 13/07/2022 14:53

Fox hunting. I’d never do it on ethical grounds but can completely see the appeal
if charging round the countryside on horseback with the thrill of the chase.

Soubriquet · 13/07/2022 14:54

When I was a bit younger I really wanted to go
to Download and also experience a mosh pit. I think I would get badly just now days

Are you allowed to use the F word on Mumsnet? Why have fun when you can be prim and proper?

You very much are. Typing f* is frown upon.

dolobug · 13/07/2022 14:59

@mosesb Well it does look fun and I keep the fact that I think that a secret from my husband 😂

DoncasterHombre · 13/07/2022 14:59

Another one for line dancing, here. I like to think of myself as a God of Rock . . . but I have a Country music radio station on all day.

And playing knock-a-door-run as an adult. I sometimes have to resist the urge - if I'm walking past one of those houses with a door really close to the pavement - not to bang on it or ring the doorbell and run away.

Charley50 · 13/07/2022 15:05

Learning to horse ride
Going to confession as a sort of art project

ErrolTheDragon · 13/07/2022 15:05

Skating and roller skating. I'm a bit too afraid of falling now I'm over 60 though.

Re paddle boarding - try it if you're on holiday somewhere warm. And you don't have to stand up, kneeling works even if it doesn't look cool. Having tried it... hilarious if you don't mind falling in but kayaks are more practical.

I was in the middle of a crowd the other week at a festival gig and ended up on some random guy's shoulders.
So much fun, but omg, the soreness the next day.
A moshpit would actually kill me!
(Considering going back to the same festival next year, but with my camping chair to watch it sitting down!)

ginghamstarfish · 13/07/2022 15:08

Line dancing, waterskiing, scuba diving.

TheBikiniExpert · 13/07/2022 15:12

Climbing - but I dont have the arm strength!

Bouledeneige · 13/07/2022 15:13

Climbing. Going on a motorcycle again.

Dancing at a party on a beach.

Being a cougar😳

Already there, if being a massive Harry Styles/George Ezra/Shawn Mendes/Lewis Capaldi fan counts?
I've driven up and down the country for two of them this year seen another for the 7th time, and will be seeing one more next year, again.
My friends laugh at me, but all good naturedly.

I was referring to "fun" as the F word. Not fuck.

dolobug · 13/07/2022 15:19

@StrawberryLipstickStateOfMind1 Well I was thinking of something rather more carnel and up close and personal than that but whatever works 😉I remember my mum getting very into Jude Law movies at my age, not my cup of tea but she had a blast!

Veralil · 13/07/2022 15:22

Parkour, it looks amazing. I always wanted to be a Ballet dancer too but am way too hefty. That is also why I've never been the girl on his shoulders at a gig which is a long held dream of mine!

Deadringer · 13/07/2022 15:24

Being childfree

zoop1 · 13/07/2022 15:25

@bigbluebus There are different types of paddleboard and you can get wide ones that are very beginner-friendly. I went on a SUP tour on a local waterway everyone in the group (~10 of us, probably aged between 18 and 60, all complete beginners) managed just fine. I haven't done more of it as I'm already involved in a different water sport that takes up a lot of time, but I can see the appeal. Why not give it a try?

PattyMelt · 13/07/2022 15:27

bigbluebus · 13/07/2022 14:35

Paddleboarding. At 58 I'm not sure I'm brave enough to try - mostly because I don't like cold water and I'd probably spend most of my time in it!

Same I was telling Dd I want to try it but the water is too cold. I'm 60 and will do it if we are in a warmer country and I get a wet suit and a life vest.

BertieBotts · 13/07/2022 15:28

Ice skating. Looks fun but I've absolutely hated it every time I've tried. It's freezing cold (duh!! 😂) hard when you fall over constantly, too many people going too fast, with terrifying blades on their feet ready to slice open any part of me. No, I do not like ice skating.

BertieBotts · 13/07/2022 15:29

Maybe I'll try it if I have a frozen lake to myself some time and one of those baby snowsuits but in adult size.

Ooh, I watched The Talented Mr Ripley the other night, Jude was delicious in that...
