For me it’s Ben Wallace or Liz Truss. No idea how good either would be but for some reason I am drawn to them.

who do you all think it should be?

OP posts:

They're all poor, including in the other parties. There's nobody in the whole House I "want". From the contenders I'd probably choose Braverman.

LizzieSiddal · 08/07/2022 22:39

Not Liz Truss, she seems to not have much between the ears.

Not Penny Mordant, anyone who goes on a reality TV show as an MP should be immediately barred. (See Nadine Doris)

Id like a Labour PM but failing that Sajid Javid seems ok.

DuckonaBike · 08/07/2022 22:40

If we have to have a Tory, John Major.

treenu · 08/07/2022 22:42

Andy Burnham

shedwithivy · 08/07/2022 22:45

Father Frodo Komodo

DinosaursEatMan · 08/07/2022 22:47

Zelenskyy.

Autienotnaughtie · 08/07/2022 22:48

Angels Raynor 👏👏👏👏

EmmaH2022 · 08/07/2022 22:48

Just saw Steve Baker is not standing, he was my preferred candidate!

allboysherebutme · 08/07/2022 22:49

They all tell lies to get our votes, so none of them. An ordinary person could definitely do a better job, a they do not care about us they do not live our lives. X

Blinky21 · 08/07/2022 22:50

Kier Starmer

merryhouse · 08/07/2022 22:51

Given that it has to be a conservative...

William Hague
Sayeeda Warsi
Rory Stewart
Ruth Davidson
Luke Evans (MP for Bosworth - wild card)
Rob Butler (MP for Aylesbury) - just to fuck up future History students

BoreOfWhabylon · 08/07/2022 22:51

I've never voted Tory but if I did it would be Tobias Ellwood. Gravitas and courage. He's one of those people who runs toward danger, to try to help, when others are running the other way

Him or Tugendhat.

Ben Wallace apparently exaggerated his military exploits a bit

DinosaursEatMan · 08/07/2022 22:53

I honestly don’t think that any of them have what it takes. God knows where we go from here.

Assistanttotheregionalmanager · 08/07/2022 22:53

Angela Raynor or Jess Phillips 😂

stayingpositiveifpossible · 08/07/2022 22:56

I'm backing Mary Berry.

And her sponges.

BringBackCoffeeCreams · 08/07/2022 22:58

Liz Truss? I've got cabbages growing in my garden which are smarter than her.

I don't want to see any of them leading the country. They all supported and enabled Johnson. There's not a shred of decency in any of them and the country deserves better.

Rosessmelllike · 08/07/2022 23:00

Wallace.

QueenOfHiraeth · 08/07/2022 23:04

I haven't made my mind up yet but think that whoever is selected will then become the next target of the media and the public's trust in them will be undermined. Just look how many negative comments are made about them here already
I honestly believe that we have allowed the media to become so destructive that it will undermine the stability of any future government of either party

Dancingwithhyenas · 08/07/2022 23:04

Kier Starmer

Dancingwithhyenas · 08/07/2022 23:05

But failing that absolutely not Priti Patel or Rishi Sunak (who is busy telling us all there is no money whilst he and his wife cheated the tax payer from money - one rule for them…)

Dancingwithhyenas · 08/07/2022 23:07

curiousitygotthebetterofme · 08/07/2022 19:37

Yes I don’t think I’d mind him.

id maybe consider Sajid Javid too

Jeremy Hunt did terrible things for the NHS. I wouldn’t trust him with our previous public services.

MarshaBradyo · 08/07/2022 23:10

I associate Jeremy Hunt with pro lockdown which makes me a bit nervous about having him, so I hope not

Charles11 · 08/07/2022 23:12

Jeremy Hunt really admired the Chinese zero covid approach so definitely not him. I'd be very concerned how he'd manage an increase in winter cases.

wonderstuff · 08/07/2022 23:14

Truss, but really just for comedy value. I put that clip on of her giving the speech on cheese if I need cheering up. She seems fairly harmless.
I know Hunt was a nightmare as HS, but he was great on health committee during the pandemic and seems to be honest, I’d be happy with him.
Bojo booted out so many good people! Rory Stewart was saying recently that he’d like to return if he could.

Charles11 · 08/07/2022 23:14

EmmaH2022 · 08/07/2022 22:48

Just saw Steve Baker is not standing, he was my preferred candidate!

I really like what I heard from him over the last couple of years. He always stood up to Boris.
