Surely there's an army of retired government ministers ready to come and help him out at zero notice? There was supposed to be one of retired teachers, doctors and nurses, after all.

I'm sure Nigel Lawson, John Major and the ghost of Maggie Thatcher would be delighted to help dig him out of this shitpit. Really.

Do we know which Tory MP is due to do the press tomorrow morning?

They are in for a ride.

I forget who it was but he pulled out this afternoon.

SunflowerGardens · 06/07/2022 21:50

@minou123 hope he makes me chancellor. Petrol is now 15p a litre...free wine for everybody. Free period products and boxes of chocolates for women on their periods - not that Dairy Box shite. Ceiling fans will be installed for women age 40+. Heating bills for homes with children, ill or disabled people and pensioners will be paid for by the government. Free childcare for everyone. Lower rate of tax for people who don't benefit from the above measures just to be fair.

You have my vote 😁

They've got a little ticker on the screen on BBC News showing the running total of resignations since yesterday. It's 41 now. I think it was 38 when we switched on. Grin

42 according to Sky News.

bloodyunicorns · 06/07/2022 21:52

😂😂👏👏

toomuchlaundry · 06/07/2022 21:52

@ilovesooty did he resign

Good move.

One that BJ should have tried a few times before now.

Please can someone explain what it means by 'levelling up minister' sorry if its a stupid question.

It's an intelligent question as in real life it means SFA.

It was suppose to be a post to make all regions in England equal economically etc but no money came with the ministry.

Westfacing · 06/07/2022 21:52

The Tories - so entertaining!

54isanopendoor · 06/07/2022 21:53

Well it couldn't happen to a nicer bloke...
At least he can go back to that Aberdeen club again, get off his face & grope people. Oh, no, that was Pincher not Gove, wasn't it? .... sorry my mishtake....

ilovesooty · 06/07/2022 21:53

But I think that 42 includes Gove.

OK, thank you.

StrychnineInTheSandwiches · 06/07/2022 21:55

You can imagine anyone who's left staring at their phone, beads of sweat on their brow, willing it not to ping with a message saying 'sorry babe, but you're doing morning TV and radio interviews tomorrow'.

No-one knows. I've been asking the same question for years, and I still don't know.

It's like minister for Brexit Opportunities (or whatever that lanky streak of piss is). No-one knows what it means.

Yes, another one went a minute or two after I posted that. Upset about Gove being sacked, I think. Shock

Zahawi was always one I thought was ok but he blamed it all on Alastair Campbell this morning which was utterly bizarre

I listened to that interview. It was bizarre, he seemed to believe that continuously repeating it had been a mistake to appoint Pincher would mean no one wanted to talk about the lying. It was like he was a very junior minister sent out with one message and not briefed on any possible follow up questions.

I did wonder if, whilst enduring that, whether the penny might drop about just how serious this is now. But, he's not stupid, he must have known that already.

echt · 06/07/2022 21:57

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 06/07/2022 21:40

Perhaps he's being very considerate and wants to avoid making her travel back from Balmoral.

No, me neither.

Now I think of it, I hope the Queen doesn't die before Johnson goes. He'd love it.
Disclaimer: I have no reason to wish HM dead anyway, but the thought of that oaf posturing at her funeral is nauseating. I think Charles might chin him, though.

GreenLunchBox · 06/07/2022 22:01

I've got no sympathy for the UK being made a laughingstock. This was always going to happen, but they voted for it anyway because: forriners

Onacuctustree · 06/07/2022 22:01

Ha. I bet he hasn't had chance to talk to Carrie yet. Bet she has publishers on speed dial.
The man is ridiculous. If I hear the word mandate again, I may scream.
How can he not see that if his own party are turning on him, he has lost the public?

minou123 · 06/07/2022 22:02

ilovesooty · 06/07/2022 21:51

Ha ha ha ha ha 😂

I'm not surprised. After today's PMQ, who would be brave enough?

Figgygal · 06/07/2022 22:02

Its just embarrassing now

GreenLunchBox · 06/07/2022 22:03

ilovesooty · 06/07/2022 21:53

But I think that 42 includes Gove.

It shouldn't do because Gove is not a 'resignation'

AllMyExesWearRolexes · 06/07/2022 22:03

Johnny Mercer for PM!

SunflowerGardens · 06/07/2022 22:03

ITV news live from Downing St and it sounds a bit rowdy outside
