£405k of severance pay for each resignation. what the actual fuck! No cost of living crisis there then.

Well my initial reaction is ‘absolutely fucking not’

tobee · 07/07/2022 10:59

God watching all these Tories trooping out to give their view in front of the camera really underlines that the got rid of the broad church of the Tory party in that parliament before the election

the80sweregreat · 07/07/2022 11:01

405 k will go a long way towards child maintenance payments ( if they spilt up!)
The others get this too ?
No wonder they were keen to resign!

Angela Rayner - "They will try desperately to change the person at the top, but it's the same old Tory party in government"

Very true, just look at Zahawi, a loyalist happy to defend the indefensible, he would just reshuffle the same people.

Do they get that if they're immediately reappointed?

Spudlet · 07/07/2022 11:02

God help us, but Steve Baker apparently wants to have a crack at leadership. Bloody hell that’s a scary thought.

Igotjelly · 07/07/2022 11:03

The Tories have done it so many times before, change the figure head and pretend it’s a brand new Govt, it isn’t. The party is rotten to the core and no one who replaces Boris will have clean hands.

Isn’t he the man who believes the climate catastrophe is a hoax?

It genuinely wouldn't surprise me if the bbc, sky etc had been told by a very senior source that the pm was going ("hello this is the queen speaking... Its done.")

Then No10 sees this whilst watching Tv and then gets their call fron the queen saying, "sort your fucking shit out and get off the pot".

Then the Tory Party goes into overdrive saying "right well you are not fucking staying until october"

And then Carrie is there screaming at Johnson "we are not leaving my wallpaper. I did not marry you only for you to be the shortest serving pm ever. You get out there and sort it out. I am the PM’s wife and i demand to be kept in the manner to which ive become accustomed" and he just stands there going "yes dear, i know. I am the pm and everyone loves me 14 million people voted for me personally and believe in my brexit buses even now and i must ensure this as part of my legacy".

Whilst also quietly thinking, "shit they are going to reveal where the russian bodies are buried now and im fucked".

Let's not forget that resigning PM BJ and Tory Ministers are entitled to a total of around £420,000 in severance pay, even when leaving in disgrace. BJ will get about £19k in his back pocket and even Chris Pincher will get about £10k. I'm sure Mr & Mrs J will clear out the rather expensive contents of No 11 too when they go - and let's face it, the next residents are unlikely to want that sort of decor.

itsgettingweird · 07/07/2022 11:07

RedToothBrush the scariest thing is you probably aren't far from the truth.

WaitroseWoman · 07/07/2022 11:08

AmaryIlis · 07/07/2022 11:01

That's the total, not individually, as I understand it: 25% of their annual pay. Still bad enough though for this shower.

the80sweregreat · 07/07/2022 11:11

I heard an interview with Mr Baker
He likes extreme sports and fast motorbikes.
I didn't like him at all. He is very smooth and an ERG nut.
He will appeal to the Ukippers

AmaryIlis · 07/07/2022 11:11

How can he represent us as Prime Minister of the UK when dealing with other countries? Surely every other world leader must ignore him on the basis that (1) he won't be around for long and (2) all his own colleagues say he is too dishonest for them to work with and unfit to be PM?

ClaudineClare · 07/07/2022 11:14

There is no way he will hang on til October. He's going today.

ancientgran · 07/07/2022 11:15

tobee · 07/07/2022 10:31

The by elections weren't real. They were just a media campaign Hmm

No he said they were just because of the people who'd had to stand down, one a sex offender and one with porn in hoc. Nothing to do with Boris.

tobee · 07/07/2022 11:15

Sam Coates reporting YouGov poll of conservative members want Ben Wallace as next leader

Rinoachicken · 07/07/2022 11:16

How can they let him keep going over summer - he’s not just disliked because of policies or whatever - he is DISGRACED - he’s been publicly called a liar BY HIS OWN MINISTERS, who are publicly saying he is dishonest, lacking in values and moral integrity, not fit for the office - HOW then can they allow him to stay in post for a second longer than necessary? He’s been found not fit to be PM ffs

Notonthestairs · 07/07/2022 11:16

Johnson has to go today. The end.

Raab can't be caretaker. It would be an unfair advantage in a leadership race.

Don't hate me too much but I'd like May (or someone similar) to go back in as caretaker whilst the Tory candidates slug it out.

Roussette · 07/07/2022 11:17

I listened to Womens Hour on R4 on way back from dentist. Ye gods, we've got a problem. The number of women texting in about how wonderful BJ was, how he'd been picked on, how the whole lot of his party should go because they've betrayed the most wonderful PM there has ever been.
I nearly crashed the car!

OP posts:
Rinoachicken · 07/07/2022 11:17

He has essentially been fired.

In ANY other walk of life that would be WOTH IMMEDIATE EFFECT - no working of notice period.

I totally agree. Like her or loathe her, no-one can deny she has moral fibre and is intelligent and not self serving. I doubt she'd take it on.

OP posts:
Rinoachicken · 07/07/2022 11:18

I really think they need to have a caretaker just so everything can settle down for the leadership BS. If he’s still there then the circus and scandals are just going to continue - it’s going to be chaos all summer. We need STABILITY now.

tobee · 07/07/2022 11:18

Yes @Rinoachicken and @Notonthestairs

ancientgran · 07/07/2022 11:19

Beth Rigby saying there have been suggestions of Theresa May as caretaker PM. I would think that will totally blow his tiny mind.
