Anybody still supporting the bloated LiarinChief now needs sectioning along with him and his last few Fuherebunker enablers. SAS time strip him to his Union Jack speedos hands behind his head cable-tied and pull him over the threshold to a waiting paddy wagon and remand cell.

DowningStreetParty · 07/07/2022 08:35

I’m confused with this- surely Gove said no more than Priti Patel has (..publicly saying time to go Boris, but without the integrity of themselves resigning personally..) and Gove has been sacked for it whereas Patel hasn’t. And Suella Braverman said he should go, hasn’t resigned as Attorney General AND has said that she would stand in a leadership challenge. Johnson camp not even trying to look rational in their sacking of ‘snakes’.
Which is really unacceptable unParliamentary language to use obviously. This isn’t Taylor and Kanye. I made that bitch famous.

Who is asking him to stay on apart from Nadine Dorries and Jacob Rees Mogg ?

It’s always about the pursuit of power, being first among equals, and this is an example of how that ultra-competitive thinking between a tiny, select group of peers can take a whole country and economy down with it, and the super elite protagonists jockeying for position won’t even notice, let alone care.

This a powerful statement and totally agree.

If you look back over the 3 word slogans and sound bites we use to make the pies out of it all goes back to this

"World leading"
"First...."
Etc.

Even when he's floundering he'll suddenly pause, halt and begin one of these sentence starters.

In some ways it's almost pathetic. I've had to read various consultation documents put out by the Department of Education recently, and it's extraordinary how often they us the "world leading" claim. I really want to ask who on earth they think they're kidding. The notion that the rest of the world is going to look at our SEN system drooling with envy is absolutely laughable.

Cornettoninja · 07/07/2022 08:38

I think it's because the victims were too close to home for comfort

I agree that’s a large part of what’s happened but also I think it was the timing of Pincher. Since attention has turned on Boris negatively (widespread attention that simply didn’t exist when he prorogued parliament illegally) this is the first real time scandal. It didn’t have to rely on memory or give time to get people on side, silenced or bribed. If they’d kept a lid on pincher for a few more months we wouldn’t have seen any of this.

DuncinToffee · 07/07/2022 08:39

Gove was personal I think, sacked in a fit of rage
Or maybe a warning

Boris might be power mad and delusional but he's not stupid, he will know as well as anyone else that he can't be without a Home Secretary at this moment, and he won't find a new one at this stage.

Was she the one who kept laughing and Piers Morgan kept asking her what was so funny?

Yes!!!! That's what I remember.

Although she was dire Morgan as usual was just as bad and didn't come off well either.

Piers did Piers. She was awful wasn't she.

I work in SEND education and have a disabled child.

You're preaching to the converted on those consultations!

TokyoSushi · 07/07/2022 08:42

Sky News seem to be under the impression that No 10 is so quiet this morning because 'a resignation statement is being written.' Let's see...

A bit like the US election, I'll be quite sad when all the drama is over!

I’m still not entirely sure this isn’t the first actual sacking BJ has took ownership of. His usual MO is to get people to resign a’la Cummings.

Interesting. His biographer was on Newsnight last night. She said that there were people close to him who felt from the start that he did not have the mental resilience needed to cope with the pressures of being PM.

Is there a special mechanism for removing a PM whose mental health is in question?

He's just very weak but he's narcissistic with it.

He's really not a very interesting case study. A calculating arsehole who hoodwinked the British people with an eccentric old fool act, not too dissimilar to how Jimmy Savile did.

He tapped into the weirdness of the British people.

itsgettingweird · 07/07/2022 08:43

I have pondered if Goves very public sacking was some kind of pact between him and Johnson. I'll sack you, you get leadership when I'm home as I'll make sure of it.

Back Johnson pops up with an important role within the cabinet.

Other than that I would call it rage.

ancientgran · 07/07/2022 08:43

Is there a point where the Queen steps in? I don't imagine there is a precedent for this.

Notonthestairs · 07/07/2022 08:44

the80sweregreat · 07/07/2022 08:37

Who is asking him to stay on apart from Nadine Dorries and Jacob Rees Mogg ?

"Another source in government suggests signs of a PM statement being prepared

But a Tory source cautions figures like Andrew Griffith telling him to cling on and not to listen to other voices"

twitter.com/samcoatessky/status/1544948112690745344?s=21&t=98okFpN-Um0JWZvp0BFhfA

Andrew Griffith was sacked (sex texts and bullying I think) and then reinstalled in time for confidence vote for May but didn't stand for election in 2019.

vera99 · 07/07/2022 08:44

He should have got gums and ammo and take hostages along with Nads and blast the soundtrack to Natural Born Killers out of the window of No 10. It's gotta be drugs probably cocaine - it's the only thing that makes sense.

Notonthestairs · 07/07/2022 08:46

Zahawi calling for his resignation now.

TokyoSushi · 07/07/2022 08:46

Zahawi seems to have written some sort of no confidence letter!

I think its a difficult one. If this was following a General Election and he was refusing to leave then that's one thing but, like it or not, this is technically an internal Conservative Party issue. We still have a government which won a significant majority at the last election, the Queen won't overturn the 'will of the people'. I guess the question is whether there should be a General Election.

A reminder that yesterday Zahawi said the PM was always honest!

the80sweregreat · 07/07/2022 08:47

He has always had Priti Patel's back and she is the Home Secretary, so she probably can't resign that position. That's what i've read anyway. Constitution laws and regulations must be immense in these matters.
I thought about Savill and his ilk. , the ones who hood wink and pretend to be something they are not. They can pull the wool for so long , but eventually their true colours come through.
Zahawi has suggested Boris should resign now as well. Will he take any advice ?

Downnotdown · 07/07/2022 08:47

After yesterday's farcical events, today I've woken up ANGRY.

It's all well and good everyone throwing in their resignation letters now, but they should have taken some positive action against the petulant, entitled and obnoxious excuse we have for a PM.

They have finally stirred and realised how much their own careers depend on the actions they now take, or are seen to be taking. Well, it's a bit damn late. Every single one of them should hang their heads in shame. And I feel the same about those who voted for this incompetent crew in the first place.

But, unfortunately, I'm also annoyed at Labour for not being a competent opposition. It's time for KS to go, the LP needs a damn good shake up. They are being handed the opportunity to grasp control here on a plate. It will never be so easy again.

ClaudineClare · 07/07/2022 08:47

Maybe she could have him round for a nice cup of tea and talk a bit of sense into him? I'm clutching at straws aren't I.

User135644 · 07/07/2022 08:48

Given that government can't function properly now, surely a physical (and mental health) intervention is required to get Bojo out? This has all been depressingly predictable since his journo days. He's been enabled for years.

The Tories knew he was unfit for office but used him as a ruse to win an election and end the Brexit deadlock. Same with the media who hated Corbyn and wanted him beaten.

Both now turning against him but they're responsible. They created him, they enabled him. The Great British public also enabled him, he was the Tory who could win an election, so he was made leader over more suitable candidates because he made them laugh.

We get the politicians we deserve. We get the country we deserve.
