Thank you @AmaryIlis for putting my mind at ease!

Braverman for PM, hahahaha Grin

Deluded does not even begin to cover it. Will Johnson sack her tomorrow?

Goodnight all. I really enjoyed your company today here and on the other more batshit thread. Let's see what tomorrow brings!

cakeorwine · 06/07/2022 23:29

If they don't go, then Cabinet meetings are going to be awkard. Will the seating plan change?

Bloody hell, I've had a ridiculously busy day, had to record PMqs to watch it eventually at around 8.30 with a late dinner, so missed most of today's events. Everytime I passed the TV the count had gone up, so I turn to you guys to catch up, read the two and a half pages on the last thread thinking things must have quietened before discovering the new thread.

Thank you for the entertaining couple of hours, bastard still hasn't gone though, even though his sycophants are leaving him in droves.

I think Braverman must be trying to deflect by saying she would like to replace him, either that or it was a poor attempt at humour.

ilovesooty · 06/07/2022 23:47

Braverman is probably deluded enough to believe she's a credible candidate. 🤣

Flumpaphone · 06/07/2022 23:53

They're actually going for the "stolen election result" narrative aren't they

DuncinToffee · 06/07/2022 23:54

On possibly the most chaotic day in British politics ever, a unifying figure emerged late evening: Suella Braverman.

As one, the entire population fell about laughing when she declared herself a candidate to be the next Tory leader on Peston.

Thank you for bringing us together.

Surely you would just resign

Lonelycrab · 07/07/2022 00:01

Surely you would just resign

That requires a conscience

BreadInCaptivity · 07/07/2022 00:04

I think the one to watch are the quiet ones - Truss and particularly Wallace.

Boris will have to be pulled out of number 10 kicking and screaming.

I honestly believe he thinks being PM was what he was born to do. He's utterly delusional.

That said I save my distain for those who continue to support and encourage him.

He's fractured his own party. He will not be able to fill the vacancies created by the resignations. Thus stopping the business of actually running the country.

It's a political mess and embarrassment enabled by mediocre politicians who know they would never have achieved high office without supporting a narcissistic, lying buffoon whose moral compass points only to his dick and self interest.

Everyone knew Boris before he was PM and yet millions voted for him. Fair play, he's never been shy about the sort of cunt he is.

So what's the big story here? Well IMHO it's about the failure of the opposition party to offer any credible alternative to the most grubby and inept Cabinet in history.

And yet Starmer wants our votes?

A man who can't even articulate the sex of 50% of the electorate.

A plague on both their houses, springs to mind.

tobee · 07/07/2022 00:11

Really I have distain for anyone who voted for him in the first place. Or voted for a party candidate standing at the general election that he was the leader of

Booklover3 · 07/07/2022 00:15

I agree @BreadInCaptivity I’d be quite happy for Starmer to get his marching orders also. I’d like them to both go.

Lonelycrab · 07/07/2022 00:22

Its nothing to do with the opposition party. What on earth are you talking about?

The big story is Johnson becoming borderline mentally unstable, whilst it all burns, and we all sit here going wtf. Do keep up.

Patronising much?

Why do you think we are in this mess?

Where a morally deficient, work shy egoistic won a landslide election?

I was a LP member for nearly two decades. I'm no Tory voter.

Boris "happened" because the LP went into meltdown and is still struggling to gain any credibility.

It's absolutely pertinent to point out that the failures of the LP are a significant factor in this debacle.

Even now, with a snap election (if it was called) the concept of a LP landslide (which should be a forgone conclusion given this shit show) is laughable.

It's all about checks and balances and the Tory's have not had any credible "balance" in years - resulting in them going into a wormhole of their own.

This.
It's got fuck all to do with labour, This is a conservative party failure from start to finish.
They knew what he was like but still allowed him to be in a position of power.
They failed to do the right thing when his failures became apparent and 211 of them still thought he was doing fine 3 weeks ago.
Bit slow on the uptake those MPS.

Lonelycrab · 07/07/2022 00:41

Hmm here and now is what you should be thinking about.

Stop trying to excuse and apologise.

Im not intending to patronise you or anyone. These are desperate times for our Parliament, and democracy.

And this is now a complete shambles.

So stop deflecting the blame. It doesn’t work anymore

Probably. Which could be interesting as apparently it's Attorney General's questions in the House of Commons.

I'm not deflecting the blame.

I'm apportioning it appropriately.

I have zero tolerance for Boris and his cronies.

However denying that the LP have contributed to the mess by not being an effective opposition is just delusional.

HRTQueen · 07/07/2022 01:26

Reminds me of Maggies last few days

we are now seeing the true Boris Johnson fiercely ambitious right or wrong is irrelevant (for him) and extremely arrogant he won’t care who votes against him he feels he should stay put

Lonelycrab · 07/07/2022 01:28

I'm apportioning it appropriately

So is that like… 60% Johnson, 40% Corbyn?

itsgettingweird · 07/07/2022 04:35

I know the Daily Mirror nicks stories from here daily.

But they've nicked the line "Get exit done" (from Cornetto I think) and it's their front page headline.

scamander · 07/07/2022 04:44

Why do I feel like all this drama is to get the attention of his great chum Trump. He probably has his next conversation with him in mind. Wants to pull the ' I refused to give in to the establishment/system that was out to get me'.

the80sweregreat · 07/07/2022 05:02

Dont dream it's over
Don't you want me? ..

It's another day and the headlines in the papers are all about Boris Johnson and him clinging on to power and what options are left for the others going forwards. Can they finally make him resign?

itsgettingweird · 07/07/2022 05:44

AmaryIlis · 06/07/2022 23:05

Braverman also saying she would stand for the leadership.

I suspect she can expect the sack sooner rather than later

She can fuck off with that leadership bid.

I don't want her running around here for much longer - we'll get stuck with her otherwise 🤣
