DH is shaving his face tonight

The first time in honestly about 15 years.

Clean shaven. Razor.

He's always had a beard and at the very least 1cm stubble (and the last time he did that must have been about 8 years ago)

I don't know how I feel. I asked him to do it because I can't even remember what he looks like clean shaven. What if I don't like it 😂

This is meant to be lighthearted, I'm not forcing him to shave!

My DH has had a beard the entire time I’ve known him.

He’s 53 but looks 30 without the beard. I like it when he occasionally shaves it off because it’s like being with a different man, stubble rash included 😁

If you don’t like it OP, it’ll grow out in a couple of days.

Charlieiscool · 06/07/2022 09:59

Did anyone ask women what they thought about this fashion for beards. I hate them personally unless they are trimmed and tidy but the men walking around with that big filthy mess on their faces yuk

I think he will look younger. I'm actually really nervous 😂 He probably will look like a different man!

Oh no, I love a beard. Not put off by them at all.

I actually prefer scruffier beard (ala Jason Momoa) to a finely groomed one.

I love a beard too - except for the groomed ones, which I find silly looking.

Change123today · 06/07/2022 10:09

I don’t mind a beard! Except my husband grew one in lockdown (he has to shave everyday if he goes into the office and by 5 o’clock he has stubble!) so he was quite looking forward to it - nope grew it for 2/3 weeks kept it tidy but he looked odd with one (a bit too like his Dad which just crept me out)

Has never attempted again!

ClinkeyMonkey · 06/07/2022 10:13

DP would love a beard, but it's always a bit sparse when he tries to grow it!

@Charlieiscool 'big filthy mess on their faces' really made my laugh🤣

QuantumWeatherButterfly · 06/07/2022 10:16

Yeah, I can't stand beards. Personal preference and all, but I'm glad DH doesn't have one. Beards are for dads. And yes, DH is a dad, but that is not the point!

Gooluck OP 🤣

Onthegrid · 06/07/2022 10:20

My DH goes from looking like a smart middle aged man (he is 54 but could pass for mid 40s) when clean shaven to looking like a elderly homeless person when unshaven. His beard grows in at least 3 different coloured patches and in no way could be described as designer stubble, he couldn't go to work like that or appear in video calls so it is only when on holiday he can grow it.

I hope you like your clean shaven DH

What??
Can you imagine the uproar on here if someone asked "Did anyone ask MEN what they think about this fashion for women doing x?" They'd be roundly pilloried.
Men can do whatever they like with their own bodies, whether you like it or not.

BellaTheDarkOverlord · 06/07/2022 10:29

Dh can't grow a beard but can grow a moustache. Looks like Pornstache from OITNB when he does 😂

Beards are manly. How can a man be without a beard? I can't have more facial hair than my partner, that's just not on. Hairy faces, legs, chest, pits, please!

starcluster · 06/07/2022 10:38

@Justkeepon yes, often times it's for the best😂 Some men look ok if you've only ever sen them shaven, but when a man has a beard then shaves, the transition can be quite stark.

Bluevelvetsofa · 06/07/2022 10:41

Some years ago, DH grew a beard. I loathed it, but his face etc. I had my hair coloured much darker with auburn. He hated it. When he shaved the beard, I changed the hair.

SheepingStandingUp · 06/07/2022 10:42

DH wasn't allowed to shave when DS was in hospital so grew one for about four months, much like our lawn also grew wild for four months. I was a bit sad when he shaved it and mowed the lawn but at least I knew what he looked like for years first. The chin is always a worry when the beard Goe. S

Giveaschitt · 06/07/2022 10:44

Probably a bit outing if my family are on here, but my Dad has had a beard for as long as any of us (including my Mum) had known him. He shaved it off once on a whim - didn't tell anyone he was doing it (turns out Mum had always said she wondered what he looked like without it, so he figured he'd see...). He walked out of the bathroom as I was passing and I screamed in shock - I thought it was my Uncle and couldn't understand why he was in our house (he lived quite far away)! Turns out what he looked like without his beard was the absolute spitting image of his brother. My Mum begged him to grow it back because she said she just felt like she was kissing her BIL.... He's had a beard ever since!

OrlandointheWilderness · 06/07/2022 10:44

Oh god I couldn't imagine my DP without a beard! Love the beard, so so sexy.

ChagSameachDoreen · 06/07/2022 10:47

He will look so different!

My DH grows a beard for two months of the year for religious reasons, and I get so used to it that I barely recognise him when he shaves it off.

whataloadabullocks · 06/07/2022 10:56

I think we need a before and after photo!
I like a beard, but don't like getting stubble rash when it's growing! Dh can't grow beards mine seems to grow better but previous boyfriends have had them, and I think they can be really attractive.

Nothingfree · 06/07/2022 11:10

My dp was clean shaved when we met and thought he was good looking now has a beard and has done for years and wow so frigging handsome. (Hated it when he shaved it off once 😂)

midsomermurderess · 06/07/2022 11:15

It’s odd that someone thinks women should be consulted on what men chose to look like. There’d be uproar if that was suggested the other way around.

Gensola · 06/07/2022 11:23

@SheepingStandingUp can I ask why your DH wasn’t allowed to shave? Is it for religious reasons? Don’t answer if you’re not comfortable, I was just curious ☺️ I hope your DS is ok now!

Bit of a difference between hairy underarms and legs and horrible messy Taliban-style beard which gets bits of food stuck in it. Eugh.
