How to cover this for house viewing

Hi - I know this is a really small thing, but it's bugging me. We disassembled DS's triple sleeper so he had this small double and a single. Trouble is we can't get the dowel out and I think it looks stupid poking up like that on the marketing photo!

What can I drape over it? Blanket? Throw? Or something more imaginative please. I'd welcome your ideas. 😊

To the people who keep saying buyers won't be bothered. Please see the part where I say it's annoying ME. I know buyers won't be bothered. I have got a bee in my bonnet and I'm quite aware I'm being ridiculous. 😅

My friend has been over this afternoon and done this...

That's 1000000000 x worse

I realise you have a solution now but I was going to suggest you put a cat over it. They actually a natural 'socket' where the dowel could go.

I vote for cat. Genius.

Take the cloth off it, that looks worse.
It's a lovely house, it'll sell.
Just a tiny point - why have you got the lamps on? (It really annoys me when people have lights on in normal daylight)

Sswhinesthebest · 04/07/2022 09:01

Did you use the photoshopped photo that a pp kindly did for you? You haven’t commented on it.

FlappyCats · 05/07/2022 16:24

Hi all,

The EA won't use photoshopped images and I'm now half inclined to paint the dowel with pink and yellow spots and make it a feature!😄

The lights are on in some shots because the photographer put them on as it went very grey. We have moved cats and child and ourselves out of house now so we're staying an hour away then it can stay clean and tidy for viewings.

I didn't karate chop any cushions, but it didn't bother me either way and I looked up declutterers online and found them to be an absolute godsend.

For anyone who's interested, it's gone live this afternoon with the dowel loud and proud! 😂👍

Your house is lovely! You've done well, it looks good.
Have you already got another property, is that why it's chain free?
I really dislike grey, but it's not too bad as you've got pale blue and cream as well. It wouldn't put me off, as it has with other houses and the ubiquitous Grey Of Doom.
Good luck!.

CliffsofMohair · 05/07/2022 16:34

Wow that is one lovely house OP.

FlappyCats · 05/07/2022 16:40

I think the soft F and B greys are absolutely lovely in changing light - especially in reality and not in pictures. I know what you mean though, they're old hat now. We painted it maybe six years ago and it still looks surprisingly clean!

I'm glad you think it looks nice. Thank you! We have got a crash pad in the area we are moving to, so we will stay there till the house sells and then look around for a permanent place.

Thank you. It has never looked that tidy in the 8 years we've been there! 😀

Your house is beautiful!! Would you accept the contents of my bank account, £121.32???
Someone very lucky is going to snap it up.

ShirleyPhallus · 05/07/2022 16:44

Wow that is a seriously nice house OP! Really lovely bones and neutral decor, but enough that you could make your own stamp on it too.

Why are you leaving again?!

BruceAndNosh · 05/07/2022 16:48

It looks lovely OP.

I do find it sad when people make the effort to spruce up the house when it's time to sell, and I think how much more they would have enjoyed living there if they'd made those changes for THEMSELVES

Roystonv · 05/07/2022 16:48

I know this is off topic and a bit mean but just meant to help as it is such a lovely house why so many outside photos and why before the house photos? No photos of other bedrooms, poor of kitchen etc. Just looks a bit odd as though house is secondary to outside. I used to be an estate agent and it needs tweaking.

EveryFlightBeginsWithAFall · 05/07/2022 16:49

That is such a lovely house

WhereDoesThisToiletGo · 05/07/2022 16:53

Very nice house OP.
I was about to schedule a viewing then I noticed a dowel sticking out of bed frame and that was a deal breaker. 😁

Stunning house !

Maireas · 05/07/2022 16:57

I still think the cat would have been a good solution!

FlappyCats · 05/07/2022 17:03

We have both said the same that it's a huge shame we couldn't have got it to that point and enjoyed it a bit longer. I think a lot of very sad things happened in our families in quick succession and so we struggled a lot emotionally/ with mental health. Then lockdown came.

We are moving to be closer to my brother now and closer to DS's new school. It's been a lovely house to watch DS grow up in, but time for the next family now.

It's a good point and I basically have trusted that the EA knows what he's doing. Don't give me something else to worry about lol 😛

Gorgeous house!!

I've a question - where do the stairs next to the pool go? They say up but they aren't on the upstairs floorplan

chiffchaffchiff · 05/07/2022 18:31

It all looks very classic, clean and well maintained. You've done a brilliant job getting it ready for sale. Now if only I had an extra few hundred grand and a job in Weston-super-mare 😭

Clymene · 05/07/2022 18:40

It looks absolutely gorgeous. If I wanted to move to Weston, I'd buy it like a shot.

You've done an amazing job of making it look ready to move into (except for that dowel obvs) WinkGrinGrin
