What do you reckon?

Suspending reality and assuming it happened, can you imagine a visit by President Markle /President Mountbatten-Windsor to the UK? In the past, the President has meet with the Royal Family (Obamas and Trump both did).

I think you'll find that 13 out of the last 14 presidents have met her Majesty.

Ylvamoon · 01/07/2022 14:16

Sadly in America anything is possible!

kimberly489 · 01/07/2022 14:16

It would be iconic

What kind of third rate conspiracy theory Daily Fail shit is this? What, are you going to next say she actually isn't the mother of her two kids and she used a surrogate like all the other nutters?

oh dear, for goodness sake, where is your sense of humour eh?

Couldn't care less, tbh.

No, I'm no journo - just a bit mischievous this morning!

It looks like you are trying to start yet another Meghan bashing thread and nothing more.

TheScenicWay · 01/07/2022 14:25

I don't think she'd be very good but then neither is the current one or the one before, so, crack on.

notangelinajolie · 01/07/2022 14:27

😂I can't see the Americans letting a member of the Royal family run the Whitehouse.

Didn't they get rid of them?

US presidents are treated like any other head of state. They don't just say they are coming and expect to be greeted by HMQ. If she wants to meet them, they are sent an invitation.

😂

CPL593H · 01/07/2022 14:30

There is part of me that is extremely tickled by the thought of a royal Prince, direct descendant of George III, living in the White House as First Gentleman. Of all the unlikely outcomes of history, this is high up there.

What's that song from Hamilton? Grin

This is what all the online MM trolls say when they're caught stirring shit. "It's just fun and games!" Bullshit. It's just another ploy to bash the woman who's minding her own business.

Stranger things have happened. I never thought they'd let a psychopath run the White House.

WayWot · 01/07/2022 14:34

I actually say yay to that.

I don't like how MM has behaved toward the royal family, especially that ill advised Oprah interview.

But I think she would make a fine POTUS, she is clearly power driven, can win people over and has sharp elbows. From what I know about her, she alright in terms of politics (I wonder if she is a bit gender critical), I'd say POTUS is the perfect job for her, much better than princess. Harry might have to give up any remming official strings with the RF though and that could be the making of them.

I say, Meghan for president!

GetThatHelmetOn · 01/07/2022 14:35

Oh well, if Arnie, Reagan and even Trump managed there is always hope, even Kim Kardashian considered it. Ol’America, such land of dreams… narcissistic dreams sometimes and with plenty of idiots to join the bandwagon but unlike Trump she is not white, a man or a bigot so she may struggle a bit to attract a big crowd.

Cameleongirl · 01/07/2022 14:35

It’s not impossible if she can win some political office in California and gain some executive/legislative experience. It would take a good few years though, probably 10+.

And she’d definitely need to the ditch the title.

DomPerignon12 · 01/07/2022 14:37

Why would anybody vote for her over Kamala Harris, who not only ticks all the diversity boxes but is also a qualified lawyer and has actual experience

GetThatHelmetOn · 01/07/2022 14:37

gingersplodgecat · 01/07/2022 14:32

Indeed, and that they are still very proactive in getting him back to power.

lunar1 · 01/07/2022 14:38

I told my husband not to be so stupid when he said trump was running, I remember it clear as day.

So as much as she is completely unqualified for the job, it wouldn't be the first time!

Auntpodder · 01/07/2022 14:40

Yep - though everyone thought he was a joke, Reagan had paid some dues by being governor. MM would have to do the same (or become a senator) if she wanted to be taken seriously by the Democrat party (she wouldn't touch the GOP) and the US system isn't set up for Independents, regardless of whether she has the money or not.

DomPerignon12 · 01/07/2022 14:40

Also despite the well-justified hatred for Trump he has experience in the wheelings and dealings of businessmen. Greasing palms. That sort of thing.

Anyone who’s owned their own business.. say Victoria Beckham would have some relevant experience

Meghan has done none of that, signing random TV etc deals doesn’t equate to building a brand and running an actual company

kewgirl · 01/07/2022 14:42

"Stop believing the shite that Dan Wootton and the Daily Fail make up."
Trust the guardian instead??
LOL

BlodynGwyn · 01/07/2022 14:49

Americans, on both sides of the aisle, do not want an heir to the British throne, a Prince living in the White House. A Great War was fought to get ride of Royalty.

stayingpositiveifpossible · 01/07/2022 14:55

I'm not a
'troll' and neither am I Megan bashing.

I actually think she would make an excellent President. Just wondered whether I was alone in that view.

I liked her statements on the Roe versus Wade fiasco. I like the fact she is a feminist. I like the fact that she is a mother too.

She has a lot of transferable skills. Why shouldn't we be talking about it?
Or is it another one of those 'no discussion possible' mumsnet things we are not allowed to discuss? Oh dear.

OP posts:
balalake · 01/07/2022 14:58

I don't think that the Duchess of Sussex has enough money or could raise enough to become the Democratic candidate.

Fluffymule · 01/07/2022 14:59

Wasn't this decided in 1783?

I can't see the Americans accepting political leadership from any titled member of the British Royal family, 'working' or 'not'.
