Redactle - THE HINTS THREAD

BIWI · 29/06/2022 09:32

Given how difficult it is to offer hints for redactle, without giving it away/being too obvious, this is a specific thread for hints.

Doesn't mean that they should give the game away, but it just stops other players seeing the hint every time they access the main thread.

So from now on, just keep your stats and general comments on the main thread and come here for any hints!

@MrsLargeEmbodied @InMySpareTime @ItsDinah

Thank you! I think I know what it is now, but am currently at work, so will put it in when I get home!

I got it too!

TheHideAndSeekingHill · 21/07/2022 19:38

Anyone started today’s? I’m on over 200 and have a rough idea but can’t pin anything down.

I had to Google once I had the area. How much have you got?

InMySpareTime · 21/07/2022 19:50

I got it early but tried a lot of wrong types of the thing before getting to one I could Google from.
You'll only get it without Google if your knowledge is very niche. It's harder to spell than yesterday's, and that caught a lot of people.

TheHideAndSeekingHill · 21/07/2022 20:03

Oh I hadn’t thought of that sort of thing. Very slow of me.

ApolloandDaphne · 25/07/2022 08:38

Can anyone help me with the current Pedantle? Thanks.

InMySpareTime · 25/07/2022 08:42

Thanks for asking here, I like to keep hints off the main thread as people don't like spoilers.

It's an archaic way of knowing how much you have.

First word is also a mint

Second word is also cupboards, perhaps in a kitchen.

PuttingDownRoots · 25/07/2022 08:43

Boris wants it back

TheHideAndSeekingHill · 25/07/2022 17:10

today's is scaring me already!

TheHideAndSeekingHill · 25/07/2022 17:13

ahhhahaha ok not so scary

I got it by putting in a word which appeared in the bullet list with a weird accent on it which kind of gave the game away.
I was tackling it while sorting dinner out, which was more helpful than usual today.

MsMarvellous · 25/07/2022 17:59

I think I got that same word @InMySpareTime

alterego2 · 25/07/2022 18:19

I don't know about weird accents @InMySpareTime - but dinner helped a lot. Thank you!

beccahamlet · 29/07/2022 22:22

can anyone give me a hint for today's ?

beccahamlet · 30/07/2022 04:59

Got it! Thanks.

MrsElm · 02/08/2022 18:34

Please can I have a hint? I have the B word, but everything I Google with relation to it draws a blank!

InMySpareTime · 02/08/2022 18:38

@MrsElm

The words in the title are all pretty normal words.

It's ironic that Google doesn't help you as it's already what you're looking for.

The bracketed word is the subject of the thing you're using right now.

MrsElm · 02/08/2022 19:09

@InMySpareTime any chance of a more specific clue?

InMySpareTime · 02/08/2022 19:32

You are totally going to kick yourself when you finally do get it.

The first word is a kind of simple quest

The second word is a piece of a car

The third word is the industry the Manchester Baby began

Together it's an ironic thing to Google.

@InMySpareTime

You are correct, I am kicking myself 🤣

BriceNobeslovesMurielHeslop · 03/08/2022 17:37

how is everybody doing today? I’m stumped so far

TheHideAndSeekingHill · 03/08/2022 17:47

I did a spot of googling after getting most of the words in one of the bulletpoints and realising I would never be able to get it by guessing

Let me know if I can help!

I solved today's Redactle (#119) in 14 guesses with an accuracy of 50.00%. Played at www.redactle.com/

BriceNobeslovesMurielHeslop · 03/08/2022 17:49

Oh any help gratefully received. So far I think it’s something to do with computers, maaaybe??
I wish we got more arts and crafty ones, they’re the only ones I get with a respectable score 😂

InMySpareTime · 03/08/2022 18:01

Just got this one, I hate disambiguation pages.
The computer bullet point won't help unless you're a nerd, it's a bit niche.
It's something you put in a situation or other thing, the first and last letters are the same.
