Redactle - THE HINTS THREAD

Given how difficult it is to offer hints for redactle, without giving it away/being too obvious, this is a specific thread for hints.

Doesn't mean that they should give the game away, but it just stops other players seeing the hint every time they access the main thread.

So from now on, just keep your stats and general comments on the main thread and come here for any hints!

I had most of the first paragraph before I got there.

I spent way too much time with bees.

This one got my highest number of guesses yet. I got to the right area eventually, but even then virtually every single word I could think of within that general area got big fat zeroes, or at most only a couple of hits. It was getting intensely frustrating but I just didn't want to give up. But I didn't really feel much less frustrated about it when I eventually found the right word.

I also got distracted by the fact that I got fairly quickly on use of words such as "term" and thought it was some sort of topic to do with semantics, so that wasted far too many guesses.

Which reminds me - is there any way you can work out how many letters there are in a word using an Apple Mac laptop? Or indeed an iPhone?

@Novum I can't show you on the page because I've unredacted it, but it's like this on an iPhone:

Long press on the word and it selects it as pictured on the screenshot, like you want to copy paste it. Then drag the box slowly across the word and count how many units the box has (it only jumps in letter units, not smoothly IYSWIM)

Any clues for today? Im somewhat stumped !

Going for a walk might help, keeping track of what you do.

It's one of the mooted "benefits" of Brexit.

It might help if you take a very measured approach to working it out.

There's an error in today's article, a repetition of the word "the".
I got a screenshot before I put any words in:

If you look at the full Wikipedia page, there's actually a bit missing from between those 'the's.

@ErrolTheDragon I just looked, there's no reason why that bit should be missing, that's really odd. I thought it would be because of links or weird symbols or scripts or something, but there are just missing normal words.

If you look at the source in the wiki page, there's some markup around that little bit, that's probably what's doing it.

Any hints for today please?

I have the second word, but still struggling! I am even Googling lots, but everything I am coming up with is drawing a blank.
