Redactle - THE HINTS THREAD

Given how difficult it is to offer hints for redactle, without giving it away/being too obvious, this is a specific thread for hints.

Doesn't mean that they should give the game away, but it just stops other players seeing the hint every time they access the main thread.

So from now on, just keep your stats and general comments on the main thread and come here for any hints!

Think about the different colours that they can be, and how that affects what they're called.

I know it's animal related and i have some colours, and that it's to do with creating that, but still baffled. Seems v American.

Lots of words for parts and colours but no type / species etc (again, don't want to give too many hints through my question if anyone not as far on as me!)

This has got me thinking though ...

No have not figured out the animal!

Think of which animals have distinctive things you wear in the cold and also think about colours/colors.

What clinched it for me was a weirdly capitalised fraction after a place

You really need the specific animal. It's a really common animal that everyone knows.

Just listened to some of that album again :)

I agree, once I'd got the animal and realised it was something to do with colours, I was ok. Still had to google to get the right word, my brain couldn't come up with many options!

Speaking of albums, the redactle tonight has made me think of..

Thanks! My problem was that I missed up hints for two days, doh. I actually got the word from the day before yesterday fairly quickly.

I got the second word in the title and admit to googling to get the first word. In our circle the jury is out as to whether that's cheating.................

I googled - the only 14 letter word I could think of was wrong!

Google is a legitimate tool!

I treat Redactle and Pedantle like thorny little puzzles and use every tool at my disposal to solve them. I find it boring and not intellectually stimulating just bashing in words. I like to use logic and research to find the answer.
