Are birkenstocks worth the money?

Have seen a pair of birkenstocks that I love . Never had a pair but they are quite expensive for a sandal.

Are they worth the money?

They are very well made passion killers. Get Crocs instead.

I find crocs really ugly clumpy shoes. Not my style at all.

Thanks everyone for the feedback. Food for thought.

Depends how masochistic you are. To me, they're like standing on lego.

Appleblum · 28/06/2022 05:49

Yes. Good quality and very comfortable.

Definitely worth the money, imitation ones are no where near as comfortable

GreyCarpet · 28/06/2022 06:42

I also think they're worth it.

I have a pair that I wear almost constantly from April to September too. This is their 5th year and still going strong.

megletthesecond · 28/06/2022 06:44

I'm not sure.
My 8yr old pair of Madrids were great. But I've had a new pair for a year and still get blisters, I can't even walk to the corner shop in them. They look the same but maybe the fabric has changed.

FootontheHeartbreak · 28/06/2022 06:49

I wear them all the time in the Summer. Nothing else compares.

ExtremelyDedicated · 28/06/2022 06:51

I think they are worth every penny, I've had about 5 pairs now and live in them in summer. I don't find new pairs need much if any breaking in now and they are true to size for me (I have wide feet so buy the regular width ones). I've had a couple of lookalike pairs which haven't been a patch on the originals.

ExtremelyDedicated · 28/06/2022 06:52

I tend to buy mine in the end of season sale for the following year.

Littlebelina · 28/06/2022 06:55

Yes, shop around and you can often get them cheaper but love them

Cashewwws · 28/06/2022 07:02

yes! And to anyone saying they are ugly, you can definitely make them look more feminine if that’s what you want.

I have a pair of gold double strap ones - wear mine with long linen white dresses, gold chunky jewellery and a big floppy hat on holiday.

They are also so comfortable - I walked all day in them yesterday and my feet were fine. I’ve had them 3 years and they’re still in fab condition!

Cervinia · 28/06/2022 07:02

I don’t think so. I’ve two pairs both are hideously uncomfortable and ones leaves my foot arch blistered everyone I wear them I don’t get the hype or understand what I can do to make them more comfortable.

UsernameIsCopied · 28/06/2022 07:04

Yes!! I had a pair that I wore daily for 6 months a year, they lasted me 4 years! I love them.

CoralieMorally · 28/06/2022 07:06

I have a pair and they really hurt my feet as they are so rough and hard. Bought fit flops instead (wedge ones) and they are the most comfy shoes ever!

Cakeandcardio · 28/06/2022 07:16

Office do similar and are a bit cheaper and comfier (I've bought both Office and Birkenstock in the past)

AverageJoan · 28/06/2022 07:27

Definitely. I have two pairs and I love them, just convinced DP to get some too and he wears them all the time now

Snoken · 28/06/2022 07:27

i buy a new pair every spring and then wear them out throughout summer. I waer them all the time though, and I spend at least 3h a day walking my dogs in them. I also have a pair at my parents house that I have had for over 5 years now and they still look as good as new since I don't spend as much time there wearing them.

RagzRebooted · 28/06/2022 07:42

Definitely, I've never been able to wear flip-flops but the toe post birkenstocks are so comfortable I can walk all day in them. I can't find mine and I'm devastated as I can't afford to replace them this year. I like the gizeh style, not the single or double strap ones, if anyone can recommend a good dupe!

Whitehorsegirl · 28/06/2022 07:48

Nope.

Ugliest shoes you can possibly buy and they make people's feet look twice the size...

Pandorapitstop · 28/06/2022 08:26

I recently bought a pair and have been breaking them in , wearing for short periods.
They are becoming much more comfortable now. At first, the footbeds felt hard.
DSis told me they look very “ worthy”.

Beamur · 28/06/2022 08:30

Yes. I love mine. I've had pain in my feet previously from injuries and tendon issues and find them ideal. They can be a bit brutal at first but amazing once your feet are used to them.
You can usually pick up cheaper ones from outlet shops. My old knackered ones I just wear instead of slippers.

Timeandtune · 28/06/2022 08:31

Definitely. I have a pair that are 10 years old and still going strong. Comfortable and robust.

TabithaTittlemouse · 28/06/2022 08:39

I have a few different pairs and they’ve saved my feet. I’ve got plantar fasciitis and love that I can walk pain free.

happyharpy78 · 28/06/2022 08:43

I've just bought a pair from Vinted and I love them! I've tried the imitation ones before (Next I think) and couldn't get on with them, found that I 'clawed' my feet to keep them on. This real pair are great, so comfortable . But then again my feet are also flat wide and buniony so I think @Barrawarra could have a point !

luckylavender · 28/06/2022 08:46

DeusInAbsentia · 27/06/2022 23:07

Not for me they weren’t. I bought into the hype a few years ago and they languish at the back of the wardrobe with the honour of being the most uncomfortable shoes I’ve ever owned.

Sell them. Always desirable.
