Apologies that the prior thread filled up before I could create this one. Hopefully everyone will find it. Lurkers are of course welcome to unlurk.

The Lido looks lovely Silkie.

Been up to Blackpool with DS and DH as I have family here. Can’t say it’s my most favourite place in the world. Got stuck in traffic too we did 10 miles in 2 hours on motorway.

Can’t say I’m a pear fan MissC.

Silkierabbit · 15/08/2022 20:24

Thanks Iwandered I hope the front room renovation goes well and does not take too long.

Thanks Prok That maths course looks good.

Thanks MissC Sounds lovely at the farm. I much prefer swimming to walking. Love pears but they have to be ripe, often when you buy them here they are rock hard.

A sail sounds nice Helena

Thanks Lemons Hope you still managed to enjoy Blackpool. Sorry about the traffic jam.

Hot here today at 31C but rain has started and about to break a bit at least, may get thunder storms this week.

DH is collecting a new mattress and bedding at IKEA and getting a McDonalds on the way back. Wish he had bought some IKEA food instead but very happy we will have the mattress and bedding. I have ordered a special collection to take old one. DD has been out with friends all day.

Floof has done some sunbathing.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 16/08/2022 15:47

In cat news: I am happy to say that NDN's cat and kitten have accepted each other. They play, cuddle and even allow the other to share food bowls and litter tray. So all good.

GP has talked my trough my blood results, I seem to have a pancreas problem and am now waiting for the mail with my sono appointment.

MissConductUS · 16/08/2022 16:46

Silkie, our dear girl cat is solar powered. The tiny lion prefers the shade. Our cats are currently 10 and 11 years old, so they should be with us for a while. While I would love a kitten, I'm not sure it would be fair to them. I also wonder if by the time they pass if we will be too old to make a 20 year commitment to another cat. Perhaps we can adopt an older one when that time comes.

Prok, was it an amylase test or the lipase test the came up abnormal?

Not much new here. I am eating a lot of apples. The variety we picked I had never heard of before. They're called William's Pride and they're quite good. They have a sweet and slightly spicy flavor.

Sorry to hear you have a pancreas problem Prok

Yes its hard to know which animals will bond in advance MissC Floof and rabbit mostly get along fine and sometimes both lie on the rug stretched out together but other times Floof is a bit too clumsy/lively for rabbit.

Changed the mattress and bedding last night and middle of night I was woken by a Floof looking right down at my head, think he was mattress testing. Its nice not to have a sagging mattress but mattress is harder than previous one. But was good value.

We have to put the mattress and 6 bags of rubbish out for collection.

My call with radio has been moved to tomorrow at 10am which would be great only I have another call then for DS, a cahms assessment and has taken 4 years to get that far. But no problems with radio, just need to make sure on the list for reconstruction surgery and make sure can get hormone tablets.

Should be going to France for a while though DH has to collect his ID card first.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 16/08/2022 17:42

Miss Lipase is to high plus an inflammation marker. Everything else is fine. I am stressed about it.

MissConductUS · 16/08/2022 18:44

Prok, don't overstress about it. I'm assuming the inflammation marker was CRP (C reactive protein). The high lipase can just mean that your pancreas is a bit inflamed, which can have many different causes. Many of those potential causes are quite minor, like a stomach virus. The sonography will tell them a lot about what is going on.

Thank you Miss. I was told not to google and I've made life style changes since the bloods were taken (moving more, eating food from the approved list at sensible intervals and drinking 0,5 l of warm unsweetend camomile tea between meals).

Silkie The course covers all the basic contents everybody is supposed to know at Abitur level, you can't drop it. So if you suddenly decide to study engineering instead of wine making, you can give it a go. Grin

halfpasteleven · 16/08/2022 23:10

Good luck with the phone calls Silkie, it's typical they are both calling together!

My DS is 10 today and his dad (my ExH) came to see him at a match and didn't even bring a card.. poor DS was disappointed.. I wasn't..

halfpasteleven · 16/08/2022 23:11

Hit post too soon...

I wasn't disappointed as in I wasn't surprised really, but felt bad for DS..

I hope your sono goes well Prok and that you get an appointment soon.

Silkierabbit · 16/08/2022 23:40

Happy 10th Birthday to your DS Half So sorry his Dad let him down. Good job he has such a lovely Mum.

HelenaJustina · 17/08/2022 18:01

Hope DS had an otherwise great day celebrating halfpast

Hope the lifestyle changes help Prok you are usually so sanguine about things, stress won’t help at all.

I’m catching up on the Archers omnibus whilst cleaning the bathrooms. DH has taken a couple of DC to help collect our apple juice. We take the fruit from our tree to a nearby farm to be pressed, bottled and gently pasteurised. We have 48 bottles to collect which is good for a year which should have been ‘fallow’.

MissConductUS · 17/08/2022 20:30

Halfpast, that's awful that your son didn't get anything from his dad. Things like that really matter to kids.

Helena, your apples come in early. We've just started picking them here, and some won't be ready until October.

I saw a duck on the reservoir today but she flew off before I could get a picture. I must have spooked her.

They are an early type Miss but are even earlier this year, we think it is the heat (or climate change!) the juice is sweeter this year too.

Thank you Helena. Your apple juice sounds delicious.

halfpasteleven · 17/08/2022 22:38

Thanks Miss, it is awful, he has hit a new low, but I will be there for my DS and he had a happy birthday despite his Dads horribleness.

mathanxiety · 18/08/2022 01:30

Belated birthday wishes to your DS, Half.
I hope the day brightened up a lot from the match on.

The apple juice sounds lovely, Helena. Does it get pasteurised?

Prok that mathematics course looks fantastic. Such clear definitions! I was taught 'little tricks' for getting the right answer all through school, never the principles behind any of it, and while I did ok with the tricks, I never felt confident. I'm seriously thinking of embarking on that course. Many thanks.

The weather forecast here has started to feature temps in the 70s at last. The slide into autumn has begun. Something has made me sneeze all day.

I found blue Pears soap at the Dollar Store and bought two bars. Now I'm regretting not buying every bar they had in stock because they last had the blue stuff in stock six years ago.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 18/08/2022 07:22

Math And mathmatics is so fantastic!
It is great to see that DS is actually actively engaging in something.
Yesterday his "Imma" arrived (Immatrikulationsbescheinigung), from the 01.10.2022 he is a full time university student (an "Ersti") Grin

Temps are supposed to go up to 35° with a fair chance of thunderstorms.

Helena Well, things seem to get better. They signed me off sick until next week to "de-stress", which I attempt to do.

Half Your DS has you and a loving home.

HelenaJustina · 18/08/2022 15:04

Hope you do use the time to relax Prok and start feeling much better soon.

It does get gently pasteurised math which makes it last longer.

My youngest sibling got their A-level results, they got what they needed to go where they want and do what they want… it’s great news, and after 34 years my parents no longer have any DC going through primary or secondary school!

halfpasteleven · 18/08/2022 16:04

Thank you Prok.
I must look at that maths course- it wasn't my strongest subject in school so I'd welcome any tips and tricks for understanding it better!
Hope you are feeling well today and that the time off helps you.

Your parents must be feeling proud and happy today Helena- the end of an era!

I'm meeting my cousin later- haven't seen her since before Covid- we were and still are so close - really looking forward to it.

Silkierabbit · 18/08/2022 23:32

Well done to your DS Prok and hope you get time to rest.

Well done to your sister Helena

Hope you had a lovely time with your cousin Half

Floof had an exhausting day of eating, sleeping on top of wardrobe, chasing a fly and playing football with opal fruits wrappers.

I had a call from NAS for DS which was helpful.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 19/08/2022 06:44

They found an unexploded bomb at Ostkreuz station. 12.000 people were evacuated until after midnight.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 19/08/2022 07:36

" have been evacuated" (?)

In calmer news we had massive rain storms all through the night and temperatures are down to 26°C.

My sono / MRT appointment is on Monday at about 10:00 am.
