Definitely U2 - lucky enough to see them twice & it was epic!

Afghan Whigs.

I'd believe that, would love to see them live!!

Loved the Prodigy and Arctic Monkeys, they and Placebo really just love performing together and it's clear.

To me Frightened Rabbit stick out in my mind, I was pregnant with DC1 and just really found it a bonding moment for the 2 of us- had legged it across the festival by myself because they were clashing with someone else, got there just on time for "Get Out". Beautiful.

Sigur Ros are always stunning too, preferably outside at dusk...

Lottsbiffandsmudge · 22/06/2022 18:11

Queen
Yup that's it really. Queen. Quite simply the best ever.

(Oh and I quite enjoyed Aeromsith, the Levellers, Bellowhead, and Elton John who came on, sat at the piano and played/ sang for 3 hours straight)

Still Queen tho....

dropthevipers · 22/06/2022 18:14

Not exactly a band, but Laurie Anderson. Just mesmeric. I would pay good money to hear her read the telephone directory.

I saw Elton John at a variety show (a fundraiser for Stonewall, in the days when they were worth giving money to) and was unimpressed, not least because he'd dressed his backing dancers as Sexy Boy Scouts, which was remarkably crass. It was mostly the women in the audience (and to be fair some men too) who sat on their hands when it came to applause time.

caringcarer · 23/06/2022 15:19

Dexy's Midnight Runners.

Cocolapew · 23/06/2022 15:30

Prince
Blondie
Neil Diamond
The Specials
The Revolution

katscamel · 23/06/2022 15:50

Going back a while now.....Saxon, Ian Gillan, Rattlesnake Kiss. More recent....Def Leppard and Lionel Richie. Lionel was a freebie ... a radio competition which was one reason but the guy was an absolute star and had such fun with the audience.

June2008 · 23/06/2022 17:57

Two very different artists but.....

Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band
and
Gerry Cinnamon.

Honestly, both amazing, so much energy. And slightly outing but very excited to have tickets to see Bruce again in Paris next year!

hennaoj · 23/06/2022 18:24

Def Leppard
Offspring
James
Del Amitri

(couldn't stick to one, sorry)

hennaoj · 23/06/2022 18:24

Foreigner are really really good still too.

Ringmaster27 · 23/06/2022 18:27

Without a doubt, Fleetwood Mac. It was stunning. I cried. 🙈😂
Also seeing both Slipknot and Metallica at download festival made my life complete 🙌🏻

KarmelitaSpats · 23/06/2022 18:32

Alabama 3 somewhere in their local area

A-ha at the Shepherds Bush Empire maybe 10yrs ago. Brilliant

And Robbie Williams, who I wasn't a fan of particularly, but I couldn't take my eyes off him. Great performer

You literally don’t get any better than a live Rammstein show

Oddly, Kraftwerk in the early 80s. More fun and humour than anyone expected and the sound was brilliant.

Otherwise, Ultravox (this niche taste may see a theme emerging, I suppose Grin )

clarepetal · 23/06/2022 18:50

Saw Genesis a few months ago, was emosh for me as big fan. U2 were great, played loads of old stuff. Seen lots more, The Levellers are one band that I have seen countless times and will always see, they have such great energy and are amazing live.

yetanotherformerteacher · 23/06/2022 18:53

Funny this thread. My first thought was also Muse. Like them, not my favourite band but my ex loved them and took me to see them in 2000 in a pretty small venue. They were spectacular!

Rodneytrotterslovechild · 23/06/2022 18:57

I’ve never been to a concert but many years ago my dad got a chance to go see Roy Orbison (he was taking the place of someone who had broken his ankle the day before and couldn’t go)

he wasn’t fussed but said yes as he was at a loose end

anyway they got there and some old bloke shuffled onto the stage,at which point my dad was ready to go home-give the night up as a bad job

then Roy started to sing-and took the roof off-penny arcade was the last song to be played and I’ve heard that song so many times in my childhood

dad said it was the best concert he’d very been to

IBelieveInAThingCalledScience · 23/06/2022 18:58

Rolling Stones.

Best concert was in Lisbon.
Line up was:
Soundgarden
Faith No More
Guns n Roses

The Darkness

Iron maiden, but the darkness were probably a close second.

The Saw Doctors - every one of the hundred or so times I've seen them. At one Irish festival in Cardiff years ago, Van Morrison was the headline act but he knew he couldn't top the Saw Doctors and went on before them so they could close the show. Magical band.

My first ever gig was to see them. Manchester Apollo circa 1997 I was 18/19. Didn't know anything about them, my colleague was a huge fan so I went with her. Have seen them many times since but not in the last 15 years. Id love to take OH, he'd love them.

I got my mum tickets to see Robbie at Milton Keynes bowl late 90s. She couldn't go so I reluctantly went, never been a Take That fan and didn't think much of his solo stuff.

Somehow we were front and centre of the stage, he was absolutely fantastic. I was shocked how good.

I still don't particularly like his music, but he was quite something live.

Seeing them on Sunday, literally cannot wait! It's been ten years since I saw them last, they're always excellent.

Annabelle69 · 23/06/2022 19:10
