DAE find this house weirdly unappealing?

I'm not buying any house ever, let alone a five million-pound one 😔, but just browsing what I would buy if I won the lottery I came across this one.

I love modern houses normally but I don't know what it is but it just doesn't seem that great to me. The way the front door opens into the sitting room? Or how it somehow looks cluttered even though it's pretty huge? I suppose I won't be putting in an offer. 😄

I much prefer the first house to the second one. But if I had to live in the second house to be able to be back living in Poole, then I would put up with it - after changing quite a few things!

TheDogsMother · 21/06/2022 15:35

I don't like the furnishings but I do love the clean lines of it. With the right things in I think it would be a fabulous house. We live in a very old place and what I'd give to have a light, non-spidery home..

AclowncalledAlice · 21/06/2022 15:39

I don't like it. All that open plan living *shudder.

motogirl · 21/06/2022 15:41

How much??? I don't live a million miles from there and I wouldn't pay more than half a million either. Crazy. What's a chef's kitchen then another kitchen? Who needs 2?

motogirl · 21/06/2022 15:44

Don't like the other one either - if I had that kind of money I would buy on the marina here, they are "only" £1 million for the 5 beds

CounsellorTroi · 21/06/2022 15:49

Looks like a hotel. The bedrooms look like hotel bedrooms. And I’d want more than four bedrooms for that money. And more bathrooms than bedrooms!

Plantstrees · 21/06/2022 15:51

I don't like either of those and for that money I would buy something with much more character and better facilities.

ThatPosterIsSoRight · 21/06/2022 16:12

I like the second one more, but the trees would scare me, I prefer a more open outlook. Preferably sea view for that money! And what’s with the no floor plan?

You in the euromillions tonight OP? Want to do a deal with me?

ImplementingTheDennisSystem · 21/06/2022 16:18

It's giving me 'car showroom' vibes.
My acid test for homes is - I'm home alone on a miserable, grey October evening. Can I imagine snuggling on the sofa with a blanket to watch TV, feeling cosy, warm and safe?
In a vast, open plan, glassy house like this? No.

watcherintherye · 21/06/2022 14:42

The only thing about it I really don’t like is that at night the living space would be lit up like Blackpool illuminations and from inside you wouldn’t be able to see the murderer lurking in the garden, like they inevitably do in TV dramas which use similar houses! Otherwise, fine Smile

OMG
Are you me.
When watching "house" programmes on tv, the homes very often don't have blinds, curtains or any window covering for evening time - I think those home owners are nuts. Who knows who is lurking in the garden 😂

tulips27 · 21/06/2022 16:44

Maybe it's me lurking in the garden, wishing I lived there! 😅

Rather 'cold' isn't it? And yet again, when I see houses like this, the owners have millions of quid but don't want to use any of it to buy something meaningful like art? So many of these multi-million quid houses just have a few generic, mass-produced canvases - I own more valuable artworks than in that house and I'm no one that special wealth wise!

Ticksallboxes · 21/06/2022 16:53

I couldn't live in either of those houses - I actually think they both look very cheaply made and will probably start to look shabby very quickly.

tulips27 · 21/06/2022 16:59

@motogirl I think the chef's kitchen is because the other one is so open plan, you can cook in the chef's kitchen without filling the house with cooking smells.

@TheLadyofShalott1 I know what you mean about "Christmas houses". These would be the opposite, I think. Houses for the summer, bright and airy.

Big Portakabin decorated by Mrs Hinch: I'll pass.

Spot on!!

MintJulia · 21/06/2022 17:04

This

Sapphirensteel · 21/06/2022 17:45

Not the best floor plan for the space and that weird atrium that you can’t do anything in. I’d need to know how those trees are planted ( roots) and how do you water them.
There are nice houses.

DirtyteaCup · 21/06/2022 17:54

cheap build- single story- low spec

SaskiaRembrandt · 21/06/2022 18:05

It looks like something you'd build in the Sims.

riotlady · 21/06/2022 19:56

I quite like the weird tree corridor! Otherwise it reminds me a bit of a lot of the houses on Grand Designs- they always look like the architect really wanted to build a fancy office or a library but had to do a house instead

Clevs · 21/06/2022 20:12

Parts of it look like a hotel to me!

SpeedofaSloth · 21/06/2022 20:14

It is perfect. If you don't want it, I'll have it.

LadyCampanulaTottington · 21/06/2022 20:18

It looks like a private hospital. Or a hotel.

Zero character or charm. Plus all the murderers can see your every move from the garden.

teezletangler · 21/06/2022 21:00

Love the house (it's got mad MCM vibes) but hate the decor. It could be made much warmer, cozier and more livable with a total interior overhaul.

Firesidefox · 21/06/2022 21:05

Not weirdly unappealing, just unappealing. But in that area people have more money than taste, so I'm not surprised people are happy to spend four and a half million quid to live in what looks like an out of town retail park.
