I'm not buying any house ever, let alone a five million-pound one 😔, but just browsing what I would buy if I won the lottery I came across this one.

I love modern houses normally but I don't know what it is but it just doesn't seem that great to me. The way the front door opens into the sitting room? Or how it somehow looks cluttered even though it's pretty huge? I suppose I won't be putting in an offer. 😄

I wonder why there are so many murders of people who live in those big houses in the telly

Rubyroseyposey · 23/06/2022 22:04

I like it but the trees are a bit odd

Wisteriaroundthedoor · 23/06/2022 22:23

I’m not really a fan but the first house for me is better than the second. I’d need to remove the plants from the hallway though. It’s all a little too clinical and office vibe right now.

AnnaKar · 23/06/2022 22:32

Love how light it is with the big windows.

WhoWants2Know · 23/06/2022 22:38

It's very boxy and I hate all of the lawn

newnamethanks · 23/06/2022 22:38

I like Poole and that's a nice area but no, it's not for me. And those ground floor surfaces look slippery.

Tillsforthrills · 23/06/2022 22:40

It looks like an utterly soulless ‘home’.

Tigertigertigertiger · 23/06/2022 22:40

Horrible . More like an office than a home.

FindingMeno · 23/06/2022 22:44

I like it but the decor isn't my taste.

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 23/06/2022 22:53

I find the emergence of a chef's kitchen as a trend to be really interesting. Kitchens used to be completely separate, guests generally didn't even see the kitchen unless they were family or friends that you were very relaxed with. Then the kitchen became the 'heart of the home' and cooking for guests became much more performance-based. Then, after three or four decades of that, people realised that the kitchen that everyone sees has to be kept to a much higher tidiness standard and it would be easier to have another kitchen where you don't have to keep putting away all of your frequently-used equipment.

Anyway, in that first house I would make the reception hall into the dining room, which would involve taking out that horrible carpet and putting in wood flooring. And I would make the dining room into a family room.

Cleanbedlinen12 · 23/06/2022 23:04

Hurrah! I don’t like it! That’s 4.5 million saved😀

perenniallymessy · 24/06/2022 11:28

I love modern houses but that just feels too corporate. The atrium area with the trees doesn't scream 'family home'. Plus with giant patio doors on each bedroom I'd think my DSs might sneak out at night (or, more likely constantly leave them unlocked so we get burgled).

That second one though is completely my cup of tea. I'll have that one please Grin

MinorWomensWhiplash1 · 24/06/2022 11:53

I wouldn’t buy either of them, they’re horrible. No homeliness or coziness to either of them, it would be like living in a shopping centre in Dubai. I hate all the huge glass windows everywhere, like living in a fish bowl and cold in winter and too hot in summer.

tulips27 · 24/06/2022 13:24

@BlackAmericanoNoSugar I think you're right, there is something off about the layout that probably could be improved on and it would be much better.

@MinorWomensWhiplash1 I think it's the large windows and light (of the second one) that appeal to me, I live in a dark house currently and it's really depressing.

@perenniallymessy Also, the bedrooms seem to have glass facing the atrium instead of walls, I don't think that's ideal in a busy home. 😬

I'm glad someone else loves the second one, I could totally see myself working at the nice, light table with a view of the woods. 😍

It’s soulless, but unlike everyone else I love the tree corridor.

We’re house hunting at the moment and the one thing I find really off-putting is when all the floors are pale grey or white slabs or tiles. They’re so cold-looking. I’ve got no problem with hard floors, but I’d choose nice warm natural wood or slate. Or even polished concrete, which is much nicer than it sounds.

sadeyedladyofthelowlandsea · 24/06/2022 20:36

It's not a house for introverts. Where would you hide?
