I'm looking for a sick day from work.

What's a good excuse/made up illness for a sickie?

Thanks

Actually @Jalisco I fully support the strikes 🤷🏻‍♀️

But not everyone is able to strike. And it's not easy to change job or force a change in working conditions either.

So until workplaces start actually giving a shit by supporting their staff and encouraging a good work/life balance, I can't get worked up by people pulling sickies because they're stuck working in shitty, toxic environments in order to pay the bills.

My work doesn't know that I was faking a sick day. Fuck them anyways. I had a great day off.

That other post of yours, about how you hate your job and wish you could do something better, this post here of yours explains why you won’t.

MN baffles me.
Last week a woman found money in her house and the whole thread was full of honesty is the best policy you can’t keep the money.
Today is advice on how to steal a day’s pay without getting caught.
Truly bizarre.

Agree!! 🤨

My colleague regularly wakes up with a headache so bad he can't open his eyes. Complete useless waste of space.

To be honest, as a manager I never cared whether someone lied about absence. I was never deceived by obvious lies, and the atmosphere at my workplace was such that I could well understand a need to get away from it.

It was the fact that I myself had pulled sickies for the same employer, and had numerous extended migraines due to stress that I understood what needed to change.

So I changed it all. And boom, no more liars, no more sickies, and a happy workforce who were super productive.

It's a bit like super strict parents raising good liars. Dogshit employers create bad behaviour in staff.

Amazing. It is all down to the manager.

He's a waste of space because he gets headaches?!
Headaches can be debilitating, even a small one can turn much worse quickly and sufferers can often feel them coming, maybe don't be such a judgemental arse.

I think Catz444 was implying that her colleague's "headaches" might not be genuine.

Who is she to judge whether they are genuine or not? Has she seen her colleagues medical and consultant notes?

I experience migraines and ironically my trigger is work and when I am scheduled to go into work and work overnights and I to the next day and I am lucky if I am allowed a 3 to 4 hour sleep in a 24 hour period. Overworked and lack of sleep is when I suffer. I have migraine medication but I have to keep on going no matter what.
